can we discuss Will Byers’ underappreciated, tragic storyline for a second?
like he was tortured/missing in the upside down for season 1 and had a monster inside of him for season 2 and now he’s not emotionally/mentally properly because of PTSD and lost time
he didn’t get to grow up with the boys properly
he didn’t get to move on from the past because he was still being tortured for two seasons
and now his friends who’ve had more time and capability to mature (shown through going from D&D to arcade games to theaters and girlfriends) and he’s still trying to get back the childhood that he missed out on, wanting his friends to play D&D with him like before this all happened, keeping the same style of clothes and haircut and hiding in his castle, while all his friends have already gotten past the old stuff
but eventually he realizes towards the end he needs to move on and accept that he can’t get the past back
yet this story was so underrated
