Also, because I had to put it in a separate post:

Stephen giving up the Time Stone was probably the thing that really sold me on this ship. Everything else- them saving each other, helping each other, standing close to one another- that would have made me ship them, anyway. 

But sacrificing the Stone? That really did take this ship to the top for me.

And not even because I think that Stephen did it emotionally, because I’m not trying to say that he did it because he loved Tony. (Though, how much he now knows about Tony and what emotions he feels for him because of that is still largely a mystery. We don’t know for sure what he saw or experienced when he went to the multiple futures.)

But because it implies a degree of trust and faith that blows me away. Say what you will about this choice, but it implies that the future needs Tony Stark in it to make things right. That Tony will be instrumental in defeating Thanos.

And Stephen trusted that. He trusted him. He trusted that Tony, unguided and unknowing of the things Stephen does, would still make the choices necessary to save the Universe. That Tony would make things right again.

He trusted in Tony enough to give up the Stone that he pledged his life to protect. 

And I don’t know about you, but to me that says a hell of a lot.
