What do you mean this isn't how Luz and Hunter communicate.

Hi! For the gus fluff prompt, I want Gus and matt watching a romance movie Luz downloaded on her phone, and getting awfully invested in it, as Luz walks in to see them arguing over who was the best character. (You can just take bits of this but keep the main idea.)

A/N: Ended up going with a dating sim instead of a romance movie, but this idea? Genius.

“What do you want, kid?” The Owl Lady glared down at Mattholomule. “Because if this is about my tub’s extended warranty again—”

“What? No.” Mattholomule shifted nervously as she raised a suspicious eyebrow. “Gus’ dad said he would be over here, and I’m working on a project with him, so I wanted to ask him something.”

“Yeah, sure. He’s in the first room on the right. Close the front door behind you, don’t try to kill him or Hooty will eat you alive.” She turned around and walked down the hallway.

“I think you’d taste like acid carp,” the owl face on the door said. “Mmmmm acid carp.”

Mattholomule slammed the front door shut. Why did Gus have to hang out here? He walked down the hallway and poked his head in the first door. Gus was indeed in there, sitting back on the couch and staring at a small rectangular tablet thing.

“Gus, didn’t you say we were going to work on the graveyard today?”

Gus jolted in surprise. “Oh, hey Matt! Sorry, I just got distracted because Luz showed me this cool game on her phone! You get to be in a human highschool and do human stuff like falling in love and talking about how hard school is!”

“Wait,” Mattholomule said, “don’t we do that stuff too?”

“Yeah, but it’s in a human way! Plus, there’s drama.”

Mattholomule hesitated, but the temptation was too great. “Alright, fine. Show me the game.”

“What are you doing? Fernando just asked you to see his show and you’re leaving? What is wrong with you?”

“It started to rain! I can’t just leave Vincenzo out there without an umbrella!”

Luz poked her head through the door at the sound of an argument breaking out. “Gus? What’s going on? Oh hey, Mattholomule.”

The two boys looked back at her from where they’d been hunched over her phone.

“Gus keeps making horrible love decisions for the poor main character!” Mattholomule yelled indignantly. “He clearly should go after the cute and cheery guy, but no! He keeps chasing after this sodden sewer rat sad boy instead!”

Gus glared at him. “How dare you say that about Vincenzo! Just because he’s having a hard time doesn’t mean he’s any less worthy of love! And I’m telling you, Fernando is a very good friend right now. I wouldn’t want to mess up that friendship!”

“But both of them very clearly want it to be romantic!”

“Too bad! I have an umbrella, and I’m giving it to Vincenzo!”

Luz looked back and forth between the two. Time to draw on her infinite store of wisdom amassed from years on the internet and many, many different fandoms.

“Well, you boys look like you’re having fun so I’m going to go visit Amity don’t break my phone bye!” She slammed the door and dashed away. If there was one thing she’d learned, it was never to get involved in other people’s ship wars.
