Okay so, when they first met, six years pre Atsushi, Ranpo saw Poe and (being the great deducting detective he is) went "Yeah, we're in love."

Because they definitely fell for eachother at first sight, the difference is that Poe was in denial and Ranpo just accepted it.

Ranpo was even flirting with Poe during the investigation and poe just thought he was belittling him LMFAO

So after the investigation which lasted like 2 minutes because RANPO, they went their separate ways and never spoke for six years and Ranpo thought that was ?????normal?????

So Ranpo whole heartedly believes Poes his boyfriend despite them not ever speaking and he tells Yosano and people who ask him that he's taken and no one knows this guy he's talking about

Yosano is even more confused because she's never seen this "Edgar Allan Poe" guy in all her time at the ADA, she's starting to wonder if he's just a figment of Ranpos imagination.

AND THEN SIX FUCKING YEARS LATER.

Whole thing we all know the story, gonna skip that, but as Ranpo and Yosano are leaving Ranpo is like "Yeah that's my boyfriend." And Yosano is like ????wtf??????

Anyways fall of the guild yada yada Ranpo and poe hanging out and Ranpo literally just invades Poes place whenever he feels like it, and is able to track down Poe whenever or wherever he is so sometimes he'll just APPEAR behind Poe if he's out somewhere.

OKAY OKAY

So the two are out in public together and their holding hands because Ranpo thinks it's all good because their dating, who cares, and Poe is confused but goes along with it anyways.

Anyways, someone stops them and says 'You two are such a cute couple, how long have you been together?"

And before Poe can ever think about saying 'Oh no we're not dating we're r i v a l s', Ranpo just casually says "Six years"

Blah blah conversation Poe short circuiting hehehheehheehheheheejejeje Poe then thinks about his life and yadayadq

They argue about the date they got together because ein Ranpos mind it was the first time they met, 6 years prior, and in Poes mind it's a few months after the fall of the guild.
