Have you written anywhere about how your telepathic hanky panky trope became your favourite? When was the first fandom you wrote it?
Heh, I don't think I have! Honestly, I've been doing it so long that I don't know how or when it started. I've always been fascinated by characters with telepathy, telekinesis and other mind-powers. Less so psychic/mystical ones. That part goes right back to my obsessions with the original Star Wars trilogy, Doctor Who, Blake's 7, The Tomorrow People and other 1980s fandoms. I grabbed on pretty hard to that aspect of Spock and the vulcans in Star Trek, too.
I do know that Jean Lorrah's Sarek/Amanda fanzine fics were an early influence on my own fanfic writing. Those had an element of telepathic hanky-panky to them.

The fanfic I wrote about the short-lived Fox show VR.5 covered a lot of the same ground, although the mechanism of mind-to-mind contact was somewhat different there. More like a shared dreamscape thing. I suspect I first really developed my little niche writing in that fandom. So mid-1990s, just as fandom was starting to get online.

My fanfic wasn't always so smut-focused or even very 'shippy. At one time I actually wrote gen plots, and tended to focus on sibling or parent-child relationships, or on conflict within the team for ensemble canons. (I was always about the hurt/comfort and whump though!)

I cant express how much I love the exchange between Dean and Cas in the kitchen in 4x02
The dark deep shadows on Cas, the bright white light on Dean, the extreme closeups adding to the intimacy, everyone else is alseep - this is a private! moment! the prolonged intense eye contact, the way Dean snaps at him and looks shocked at his own attitude while Cas simply cannot look more intrigued and enthralled by Dean already
"Three days ago you thought there was no such thing as me"

Guys get a room
Special mention to when Cas says "read the bible" all sassy and moody and Dean's eyebrows shoot up like he's having a sexual awakening

Kind of scary to think about the fact that both brothers could (and have) taken advantage of each other's weaknesses because they are each other's weaknesses.
Sam, being the little brother, only needs to look at Dean a certain way to get what he wants, and Dean knows that. He's the big brother. He's the protector. He's supposed to protect Sam from everything bad in the world, and the fact that Sam might be upset because of something he's done or said is worse than the world ending. The man chose to risk letting the world die because Sam thought he didn't believe in them.
Then you've got Dean's influence over Sam, as the big brother. Dean is Sam's role model, and it stays that way, even when they're well into their thirties. Dean can use the "because I'm older" card on him or make him sit out "because I said so" and there's plenty of times where that actually works. Same as Dean - the thought of his big brother being disappointed in him is worse than anything, which is part of why he allows the door to Hell to remain open. Because Dean has begged him to, because Dean says it'll be okay, and when it truly matters, he trusts his brother more than he trusts himself.
Do you still do your OUAT nail polishes?
Sadly not! I miss that colourful geekery. The one lingering side-effect from my mastectomy surgery is that I can no longer grow my nails to a decent length. It's got a bit better this past year, so I may be able to go back someday to representing characters with little blobs of overpriced colour. :)
