This, Uh....
This, uh....
This post ventured in a direction I did not expect and now I'm pretty sure I have whiplash.
taylor swift would release a 30th special edition of the tortured poets department to block the vampire lestats spot on the billboard chart and within 24 hrs travis kelce would go missing

Various Ways to Collapse
Crumpling to the ground
Might hit their head going down
Catching themself before falling completely
On a wall
A friend
A handrail
Etc.
Leaning against something for support
Faux casual, everything’s fine, but it’s impossible to miss the way they’re shaking
Forearm against the wall, breathing raggedly
Slumping completely into support
Back to the wall
Sliding down the wall as their legs buckle
AHHHHH
Prompt- whumpee is thrown to a monster as a punishment, the whumpee’s believing it to be a death sentence, but monster caretaker with a human intelligence takes one sniff of whumpee’s rank terror flooding their smell combined with blood and infection, decide that “you’re my responsibility now” and try to nurse them back to health
Bonus points if whumpee, overwhelmed and being manhandled by a monster and fully believing a painful death awaits them, fully starts whimpering and crying like a child. They’re so tired and so scared and it has nowhere to go but out of them
content: nonhuman caretaker, restraints, left for dead
Caretaker was used to being treated like a foul beast. Their appearance wasn’t the nicest thing to look at, their claws and horns reminding the poor humans of something far worse than any animal. They were even used to sacrifices being thrown their way; it was rare, but it happened every once in a while, whenever someone had really made the rest of the village mad.
It was the same thing on that fateful night. They were out hunting for some rabbits when they saw the tied up little thing shivering under a tree. They couldn’t see Caretaker yet — they were too preoccupied with bawling their eyes out and trying to get out of their restraints.
Poor thing. Caretaker slowly approached them, silent as they could be, but their paw hit a dry branch that gave off a resounding crack. Whumpee’s eyes snapped to them and their sobbing became louder. “No! Get away! Please, please, get away! Don’t touch me!”
As human-like in intelligence as Caretaker was, the one thing they couldn’t do was mimic human speech. They could understand it, but they could never reply with any kind and reassuring words of their own.
They sighed, knowing the human was going to freak out even more if they went any closer. But there was no other way, was there? The smell of blood and infected wounds in the air was overwhelming, and Caretaker just couldn’t bring themself to leave them for dead. So they took another step forward.
“Please!” Whumpee cried. “Please! Please, I didn’t do anything wrong, I swear I didn’t, please, get away!”
Caretaker moved as slowly as possible, putting a furry paw on Whumpee’s head when they were finally close enough. They mimicked the way they’d seen humans petting each other for comfort, trying to soothe their charge. It did nothing.
“I just wanna live,” they sobbed. “Please, I just wanna live.”
Caretaker nodded and pulled their paw away, instead hooking a claw under the ropes that kept them bound. Snip. Then another rope. Snip. Whumpee was free within seconds, and they used that to try and crawl away. Caretaker watched with pity. They weren’t going to make it far with those injuries.
Sure enough, Whumpee collapsed a few steps away from Caretaker, their crying intensifying yet more. “Please… Please… Please…”
Caretaker approached them once again, this time committed to just bring Whumpee back to their nest, however panicked they were. Whumpee would understand their intentions at some point. But for now, all they could do was scoop up the ruined little human and carry them back while they cried.

PUT THIS DIRECTLY INTO MY VEINS PLEASE AND THANK YOU
whumpee collapsing into caretaker’s arms…
“it’s okay, it’s okay.”
“there you go. easy now.”
“i’ve gotcha — i’ve gotcha.”
“whoa there. you good?”
“you’re alright. come on.”
“hang on to me… i’ve got you.”
especially when caretaker then eases whumpee down onto the floor (in their arms / lap!), or into a chair or a bed.

Happy birthday, Captain Crosby (07-08-1987)
