how do you think rachel would've reacted after seeing cal and andre's crosses burnt down to ash? i've been wondering this for a bit now and i just wanted to ask

rachel would be furious. she wouldn’t be angry. she wouldn’t be frustrated. furious. she would be shaking with anger the moment she saw footage of the crosses burning on the news.

the nights that she had spent at cal and andre’s crosses, placing roses at the base of the wooden sculptures, the conversations she had with the memories of them—all gone, all pointless.

her parents would try to comfort her, saying that those crosses weren’t their actual graves, but she would storm out of the house. her friends would say she shouldn’t feel bad, that cal was a piece of shit and that she didn’t like andre in the first place.

rachel would isolate herself, thinking no one understood her. no one knew cal like she did, other than andre, and he was gone.

she had changed her mind on andre, by the way. even though it was obvious he was a bad person, apparently cal was too. but if cal had loved andre so much to perpetrate zero day with him, she realized there must be something to love about the dark haired boy.

okay so i don’t see them having a “traditional” proposal, like one where someone gets down on one knee and gives a little speech before asking for the others hand in marriage. when they do get engaged, though, it’s personal and sweet. it’s perfect for them.

andre is the one who brings it up. they’re in bed, lying next to one another while talking about their future. andre was about to graduate from the university of connecticut with a degree in engineering, and cal had recently gotten a job (probably something related to helping troubled kids). cal was asking andre if it was too late for him to go to college, even if it was just community college, and andre said no, of course.

in that moment, with their voices quiet and the noises of the streets below their apartment, andre realized he couldn’t imagine a future that cal was not in. every time he dreamed about coming home from his job in 30 years, cal was waiting for him. if he dreamed about moving out of his apartment, cal was helping him bring in boxes. cal was always there.

andre was drawing patterns onto cal’s arms, tracing his scars, when he suddenly stopped. cal looked over to him.

“cal, would you ever leave me?”

the question stunned cal. of course he wouldn’t. does andre actually think he would? “andre, what the fuck? no, absolutely not.”

they fell into silence until andre said cal’s name again and received a curious hum in reply. andre continued talking.

“would you marry me?”

cal looked over to see a scared look on andre’s face, as if that question was the deciding factor of whether he’d live or die, and it honestly was. cal didn’t hesitate before saying yes.
