imagine if zero day didn’t happen. cal and andre attend the university of connecticut. they share a dorm and stay as close as ever. these photos would be from a friday night. parties would be going on all over campus, but they aren’t interested. they prefer being alone together. it’s the most fun they’ve ever had. this is the sight andre has every night, and it’s heaven.

I’m going with Andre bc that man is still so possessive and worried someone will swoop Cal away if he’s not quick enough (like even after all those years.. he has a lot of self doubt. It’s not really that he thinks badly of Cal)

okay so i don’t see them having a “traditional” proposal, like one where someone gets down on one knee and gives a little speech before asking for the others hand in marriage. when they do get engaged, though, it’s personal and sweet. it’s perfect for them.

andre is the one who brings it up. they’re in bed, lying next to one another while talking about their future. andre was about to graduate from the university of connecticut with a degree in engineering, and cal had recently gotten a job (probably something related to helping troubled kids). cal was asking andre if it was too late for him to go to college, even if it was just community college, and andre said no, of course.

in that moment, with their voices quiet and the noises of the streets below their apartment, andre realized he couldn’t imagine a future that cal was not in. every time he dreamed about coming home from his job in 30 years, cal was waiting for him. if he dreamed about moving out of his apartment, cal was helping him bring in boxes. cal was always there.

andre was drawing patterns onto cal’s arms, tracing his scars, when he suddenly stopped. cal looked over to him.

“cal, would you ever leave me?”

the question stunned cal. of course he wouldn’t. does andre actually think he would? “andre, what the fuck? no, absolutely not.”

they fell into silence until andre said cal’s name again and received a curious hum in reply. andre continued talking.

“would you marry me?”

cal looked over to see a scared look on andre’s face, as if that question was the deciding factor of whether he’d live or die, and it honestly was. cal didn’t hesitate before saying yes.
