I think a lot of people are forgetting one very crucial thing about All Might passing on One For All to Deku.

At the time All Might passed One For All to Deku, he "defeated" All For One, not knowing he's still alive. He only found out some time AFTER the USJ Incident, when Deku already has it.

If he knew All For One was still out there, there's a chance he wouldn't pass on OFA to Deku.

This is even proven by the fact he didn't tell David about OFA out of fear that he will get involved with AFO if he does, yet he lets Tsukauchi know, which happens to be AFTER the his first fight with AFO, at least shown in Vigilantes.

So he chose Deku not because of nolstalgia. If that were the case, he wouldn't have turned down Deku's question about being a hero without a quirk when they first met.

He chose Deku because of his heart and actions that forced All Might to act when he was hesitating. And All Might didn't worry too much about Deku being too weak or lacking experience because it didn't matter that much. All For One at the time was thought to be defeated at the time, so all he needed was someone who is good-hearted. Someone who can do the right thing.

And through the ten months of training with Deku pretty much everyday, there's no doubt that All Might would've ended up having some attachment to him.

I agree that the Overhaul arc is poorly done, but I'm curious - what are your thoughts on Nighteye? He's one of my favorite characters, mostly because he clearly cares so deeply about so much yet he's rewarded with pretty much nothing but suffering for it. I felt like his fate was handled...absolutely terribly by Horikoshi, with it being glossed over almost immediately after it happened rather than having the profound effect on Deku, Mirio, and All Might that it should have. I feel like part of the reason the Overhaul arc feels so hollow is because it seems like a means to an end in introducing some new characters - Mirio, Tamaki, Nejire, and Eri, primarily - but the arc ITSELF has very little effect on anyone or anything in it once the story moves on. There’s no lasting impact; it barely even gets referenced again. And again, Nighteye’s care and dedication go largely unrecognized and unrewarded. There’s almost nothing to feel good about in the arc. (2/3 lied again)

The longest time I spent away from staying current on the manga - when I couldn’t muster the will or desire to read - was during the Overhaul arc. I think it was poorly executed all around, that the most sympathetic characters in it were unilaterally punished for their best qualities, and that what should have been important was given the same post-arc treatment as filler fluff. What are your thoughts on the problems with the arc? And what do you think of Nighteye as a character, and his fate?

I have several problems with the arc, but the biggest one is that for such a long, Midoriya-centric arc, I feel like I’ve hardly learnt anything new about him, and that he hasn’t changed much.

Got this from my japanese dictionary app in my phone.

Izuku's name might be a pun to the word above meaning 'Where; what place', 'How much (long, far)' and 'To what extent'.

From what it said though, it's stated to be outdated kana, so this might be coincidental. (Who knows?)

'Izukunzo' refers to 'How or why', which may be a reference to how Deku in the future is telling us his origins as to how or why he became the Greatest Hero.

I could probably add more later.

Hero Aca Names

I never really saw a post that bashes in the glorious names of the characters in BNHA. And believe me they are golden!

It’s going to be quite lenghty I guess.

Midoriya Izuku -  緑谷出久 

Well, first of  緑 (midori) means green, so yeah, green hair, Deku’s costume all explained.  We all know, how Deku got his name, an other reading of the character  出 is “de”. What Ochako tells him that it reminded her of the word “dekiru” which means to be able to. Fun fact: the meanings of the kanjis in Izuku are “to come out” and “long time”, like how his quirk took a long time to “come out” maybe? 

Other fun fact: Ku is how you’d pronounce nine as well (although different kanji) and guess who’s the ninth holder of One for All? And guess what: Yagi Toshinori  八木俊典  has the charachter  八 for eight in his name, and Shimura Nana  志村菜奈 again, like Izuku, has the reading shared for seven (Nana) in her name.

Bakugou Katsuki -  爆豪勝己

Well, simply enough,  爆 kanji means to brust. It’s commonly used in expressions such as bakuhatsu meaning explosion or bakudan meaning bomb. 豪 means something along the lines of extraordinarily strong. So yep he is an explosion master. And katsu  勝 means victory, while己 means self. And there you have his will to always win, and to win over himself, to progress.  

Todoroki Shouto -  轟焦凍

Icy-hot boy here has  焦  to burn, singe, scorch and 凍 to freeze, frozen. Also worth to note that  轟 as inherited from Endeavor means “to roar” “rumbling” or a bit metaphorically “to be famous”. While Shouto does not show these traits much, it certainly is fitting for his dad.

Asui Tsuyu -  蛙吹梅雨 

蛙 means frog and  梅雨  means rainy season, or dewdrop.

Hagakure Tooru -  葉隠透 

透 means transparent.

Ashido Mina -  芦戸三奈 

This one is a hiding in plain sight: the japanese way to pronounce acid is “ashido”

Sero Hanta -  瀬呂範太

Again, a word play on the loan word for cellophane tape “serohanteepu”

Kaminari Denki -  上鳴電気

上鳴 = Thunder 電気 = Electricity. Wow, what quirk this boy might have, am I right?

Jirou Kyouka -  耳郎響香

She has the kanji for ear  耳  and for echo/ backsound   響

Tokoyami Fumikage - 常闇踏陰 

常闇  means eternal darnkess (nice name ngl) and  陰 is shadow.

Satou Rikido -  砂藤力道 

Satou means sugar and also  力 (riki or chikara) means power.

 Ojiro Mashirao - 尾白猿夫 

Again,  尾= tail  白 = white  猿 = monkey  夫 = man

Yaoyorozu Momo -  八百万百  

 Altough the kanjis for Yaoyorozu litereally mean 8 million, it’s an idiomatic expression meaning countless- i guess this slightly references her quirk.

Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu -  鉄哲徹鐵 

Tetsu means iron, with the meaning of two of the kanji also being iron: 鉄 and 鐵 and yet this guy can turn himself to steel? Hirokoshi sensei give me a break.

Hey guys! I decided to make a different, seperate blog for BNHA posts. I might start sticking with that blog for BNHA, so if you're following me for BNHA, I suggest to start following me with the other blog I've set up.

The new blog I've made is @myheroblogs. I've already reblogged one of my posts there.

I'll probably start making more posts BNHA-related posts on the new blog, and this one will remain as my main blog for other stuff. Though, there's a chance not much will probably go on here anymore. I'll try to go back to the other stuff this blog was originally used for.
