Do I Request It Here Omg But This Prompt

“Oh darling, you look superb!” Your great aunt was walking towards you with her arms wide open. She looked overly dressed, as usual, for a family holiday.

“Thank you, Auntie,” you mumbled as she crushed you against her large chest. She was always overly touchy-feely and you hated it, to say the least. Thankfully, she let go of you after giving your bum a slight pat and moved on to talk to your parents.

Every year, your whole family -your mother and father’s side, collectively- picked out a resort and went on a big holiday for about a week. Words weren't enough to describe how much you hated these reunions. Rather preferring to spend some time alone in your room.

“Y/N! How are you? And how is uni going?Any lucky guy that we get to meet?” Your uncle was always far too nosy for your liking, you dropped your towel on a nearby sunbed by the pool.

“I'm fine, uni’s going great and no, no ‘lucky’ guys for you to meet,” you said, not even sparing a glance his way. The pool side was starting to fill with your relatives and all you could hope for was to stick your nose in a book. Maybe that would help you avoid them.

“Too bad, I really was looking forward to another family wedding,” your uncled continued and you wanted to gag. It baffled you how he could go from asking about your well being to planning weddings. You replied to all his questions politely, knowing that your mother had a close eye on you. Manners, she would always say, urging you to always be polite to others, no matter what.

A few hours or so had passed and finally the conversation was steering away from you as everyone was losing interest in your mundane social life. You didn't care, as long as it got them off your back.

“I need to use the bathroom,” you called out to your mum as you dropped your book aside. She nodded and continued to chat with her sister about the curtains she had recently purchased.

There was a bathroom by the pool but you decided to go to the lobby, and use the one that you had earlier spotted there. It seemed like a safer call. Just as you entered the lobby, you spotted your step-grandfather. He hadn't showed up at the pool that morning, and you were grateful because he was a prejudiced bigot, insufferable to say the least. All your other relatives seemed like the sweetest people on earth in contrast to him. Even they tried to avoid him.

So you did the first thing that came to mind, you slipped into the nearby storage room so as to not collide with him.

The room was dimly lit and you didn't look around carefully until the door had shut behind you. You rested your back to it and waited for your eyes to adjust to the light as you scanned the small space. Various cleaning products were stacked neatly on shelves, rolls of toilet paper, a mop and bucket and a young man. Wait what?

“Hi.” The stranger feebly waved and you hoped he wasn't a member of staff, being sure that he would say the area was strictly for personnel and that you should leave.

“Umm..hi?” You replied, not quite sure what was going to happen next. Hoping you wouldn't be pushed out back into the lobby and have to explain to your grandfather why you were in a storage room.

“So, why are you here?” He asked and you could have sworn he had a playful tone to his voice.

“I needed a place to hide from my family, I'm awfully sorry, I'll leave.” You made a move towards the door and he stopped you by placing a hand on your upper arm, “No, don't get me wrong. I was just curious. You see I'm also hiding. Needed a breath of fresh air.”

Well, the room wasn't exactly filled with fresh air, with no windows to be seen but it did smell nice due to all the cleaning products stacked in there. You felt relieved, now knowing that he wasn't going to throw you out. He pulled his hand back. You weren't sure how long you would be in the room, so you decided you may as well strike up a conversation. Manners, you heard your mom's voice in your head.

“So, family issues too?”

He smirked and sat down, crossing his legs and taking a comfortable position seeing that you weren't in a hurry to leave. Joining him with a shrug, you picked a spot away from the door so no one would slam into you if they tried to open it. You were now seated beside him, he spoke into the emptiness of the room, “We could say that, I'm here with my grandparents and they love to play bingo. You see, they enjoy the Mug-” he stopped mid sentence and pinched his nose, “I mean, they enjoy playing games, and I don't really see the appeal of waiting in a room full of seniors. Told them I was off to the loo.”

“Same here,” you chuckled. “Trying to escape my wedding planning, you see.”

He perked up, “Oh, so you've got a lucky someone who's waiting for you out there somewhere?” You loved how his tone implied that you were in a battlefield of some sort.

“No, no one out there for me,” you shrugged and heard him laugh.

“That's how dire the situation is then? Now I understand why you had your knickers in such a twist.”

“I did not!” You scoffed but couldn't help the corners of your mouth twitching. He turned to look at you, so you mirrored his movement. He had quite a pretty face up close, you noted.

“Whatever you say,” he said and you noticed his eyes scanning you, wondering what he was thinking about. That's when it struck you, “What's your name?”

The young man chuckled and shaked his head, training his eyes on a nearby bottle of disinfectant, “I was wondering when you'd ask that. James Potter, and yours is…?” His voice trailed off expectantly.

“Y/N Y/L/N.”

“Well, Y/N, I'm happy to have stumbled into you like this. Definitely going to make the rest of my stay more interesting if I'll keep running into you in storage spaces like this. It gets kind of lonely on your own,” he was smirking and you saw his eyes glimmer when he turned to look at you once again. You felt a large smile starting to creep up on your face and for the first time that morning, you actually felt safe.

“Hey.”

You tapped Sirius’s shoulder, taking a spot next to him at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall. He said nothing in return, only taking a sip of his water, and offering you a sad smile.

He was sweaty, and just looked to be regaining his breath.

His behavior was completely justified.

You were leading a small study group of first years this morning and lost track of time, missing his game entirely. By the time you realized, students were already filing back into the school for dinner.

“Can we talk later?”

“Yep,” Sirius nodded his head, returning back to his plate of food.

You learned through Lily that they won, which would’ve usually delighted you, yet you felt even worse.

You followed your friends back to the Gryffindor common room for the obligatory party that always seemed to happen whenever the house had won.

You stepped through the portrait, immediately being tugged towards the stairwell by Sirius.

“What—”

He led you to his dorm and shut the door behind him, waiting for you to speak. “Sirius, I- I lost track of time completely,” you grabbed his hands, speaking sincerely. “Next time I’ll have my study group earlier— no, I’ll make sure to reschedule it for another day, so there’s no chance of me missing another match in the future,” you rambled on.

His eyes softened at your genuineness. “I- I’m bummed that you weren’t there, but I needed a little time at dinner to myself.”

Sirius paused. “I accept apologies in kisses and hugs.”

You wasted no time in wrapping your arms around him, squeezing him tight. “P-please let me breathe,” he laughed.

You grabbed his cheeks, ready to pull him in for a kiss, but he took hold of your wrists, moving them to your sides. “Mhm, yeah. Kiss me now,” he teased, puckering his lips and looking to the ceiling.

“Oh c’mon nobody of any height could kiss you when you’re looking up.”

You over exaggerated your struggle of trying to get out from his grasp and once you did, you hesitated, waiting for him to look at you.

“Can I kiss you?”

“Yes, hurry up.”

You smiled into the kiss, running your fingers through his curls, pulling them back away from his face.

Your short moment was ruined when James burst in the door, nearly tripping over a mess of clothes on the floor. “Sorry to um, make such an entrance. I just want to shower really quick.”

Sirius looked ready to protest but James shut the bathroom door before he could speak. “I was going to shower,” he explained.

“Yeah, you really smell.”

“You’re an ass!”

“You love me,” you laughed, opening the door, leading him through the already booming party.

He noticed the way you were taking him: to the prefect bathroom that Remus gave you the password for. “You really want me to shower, huh?”

“Desperately.”

“Do I really smell that bad?”

“You smell horribly. Now get in there,” you said, pushing him through the door.

He stopped his walk over to the showers, turning around to look at you, a playful smile spread across his face.

“You're not going to join me?”

James Potter one shot, harry Potter, James Potter fluff

Petrichor. The earthy smell filled your heightened senses as you felt him coming near you. As much as it intimidated you, it was bliss, somehow it relaxed you. But maybe even in that bliss you were aware how he affected you. Your back still towards him you started walking away from him, everyone was congratulating him on quidditch pitch after his marvellous performance against Slytherin, and here you were walking away from him.

You told Remus that you rather snuggle in your blankets and relax before the full moon but he was stubborn, just like you, and dragged you to quidditch pitch. It was even alright till you had to sit in the rain and watch the match but it all blew up when he saw you sitting in the stands, still on his broom he caught your eye and winked at you, causing a rush a shiver to run down your spine and feel the gross butterflies (it's not like you were looking for him all around the pitch). Alright maybe you were. But that doesn't mean it meant something.

Actually it meant everything. He was gorgeous, more than beautiful. He was breathtaking.

You almost were out of the pitch when a hand wrapped around your scarred one and you internally groaned. Turning around and coming face to face with your worst fear.

He looked at you with those freaking ocean blue eyes. Inhaling deep breath, you stared back at him, directly in his eyes.

You didn't know if he was intimidated by your glare or just trying not to laugh at your cowardice, when his throat bobbed when he gulped.

He released a airy laugh and said,

"Won't you congratulate me for my amazing performance?" He tilted his head, acting innocent. And honestly, he was looking adorable.

Shut up.

'All I want to say is that you are gorgeous.'

"Your ego is big enough without me inflating it." Your words betraying your thoughts. It did nothing to him but made him smirk a little more.

You rolled your eyes and turned around and started walking away.

"At least come to the party!" His voice bounced and reached you.

Merlin, why he is so gorgeous.

Gorgeous

You internally groaned as you felt Lily shaking your shoulders.

"Female Lupin, if you don't get up right now, I am going to get male Lupin and make you have a good conversation with him."

"But Lils!" You whined. You had no intention in going to that ruddy party, where James bloody Potter would be.

She sighed and sat down next to a lying figure on the bed. She started running her hands in your hair, humming softly.

You looked at her. Actually looked at her. What was there not to like? She was perfect in studies, had the most magical eyes, the softest hair and kindest heart. On the other hand you were nothing like her.

You were a monster.

Each full moon, you hunted for lives, each full moon, you became a monster.

But no one knew that, except a handful of people. And unluckily, he too knew that. What phased you more was that he was ready to take a risk upon his life by being with you and your brother in those dark nights where you both lose yourselves to your inner monsters.

You always felt comfort in thinking that it was all for Remus, you just got to be a part of it due to you having no other place than the Shack. Who knows that if it hadn't been because of your condition, he would have noticed that you existed?

You were shaken out of your thoughts when you heard a loud bang on the door. Lily looked at you in confusion but gave you a look when found you doing the same to her. She got up and opened the door and found Marlene smiling giddily at both of you.

"What are you two doing here?" She exclaimed.

"The party has started!" She exclaimed and now did you notice that her words were slurred.

At least there is alcohol.

"Marlene...the party just started and you are drunk." Lily said with sigh, disappointment evident on her face.

Marlene just grinned, flipped her hair and started descending the stairs whilst saying something along the line,

"It's just the starter."

Lily turned towards you and opened her mouth to say something but we're stopped by the sudden thumping sound that came from the stairs. You got up quickly from your bed and looked downwards with Lily on your side.

On the stairs, Marlene was laying face on the top most stairs, her hair sprawled on the floor just outside your dormitory.

A gasp left Lily's lips and she crouched down to look at your friend, while you were trying your best to stop the laugh that was about to leave your lips. You too crouched down to her level but before you could say anything Marlene suddenly jumped and sat with her legs crossed, facing you both.

Lily gasped and your eyes went wide with shock but when you both looked at Marlene, she was just giving you both a cheeky smile.

"Merlin, women! Thought you were possessed for a moment!" You exclaimed with a hand on your chest.

You got no reaction from her, instead she just stood up and pulled you both too in a standing position.

"I forgot that I was bribed to drag both of your arses downstairs."

You squint your eyes and raising a brow you said,

"Who bribed you?"

Her face light up and smiling widely, she threw her hands in the air and exclaimed,

"Pames Jotter!"

Lily smacked her hand on her forehead, you winced just thinking how painful it would have been, assuming by the sound.

You heard Marlene's giggles and turned towards her.

"Get it? Pames Jotter is James Potter!" She giggled harder and smiled widely.

You visibly shivered at the name. You eyed the blonde in front of you and started thinking of all the things that you could use to convince her and let you go.

You slowly approached the opportunity,

"Marlene..."

Marlene who had broken into a dance, swaying Lily with her stopped abruptly and looked at you. All humor was wiped away from her face.

You sighed then looked at her,

"You are not drunk, are you?"

She turned towards you and smiled sheepishly,

"I don't know what you are talking about."

"You are forgetting that I am the twin of Remus Lupin. We notice small things."

Marlene sighed and looked to be contemplating something before breaking the facade.

"Yeah, alright, I was acting." Lily hit her arm as soon as the words left her mouth and Marlene grumbled about how she was kind of pissed off by the Lupin siblings in a not so respectful way.

"Why?" You whined to Marlene.

She rolled her eyes and said,

"Because I know that you were not going to come unless practically dragged down.

"So?"

"So? So? Just because you have a crush on the school's golden boy doesn't mean that you should rot in the dorm when everyone else is having a swing."

You felt flustered about how obvious were your feelings for him, you opened your mouth to retort but you couldn't find a better reason. Afterall, it was the reason you refused to be down at the party. You sighed and tried to ignore your friends' pitying faces.

"Okay, let's do this, we go to the party, have the time of your life, whilst we find something that you don't have to interact with him."

"And how we do this?" You raised an eyebrow, seriously questioning your friend's mind,

"I mean, how are we going to do this? He was the one who organised the party."

Marlene let a smirk form on her face and said,

"Technically, the party was organised because of him, not by him."

"Yeah, and that helps a lot." Lily rolled her eyes.

"You don't get it Lils! We are going to be so drunk and stay as far as possible from him."

You clapped your hands and said,

"Yes! We will get drunk and stay in our dorms! Go Marls, bring some drinks!"

Marlene rolled her eyes and took a threatening step towards you.

"Okay, enough, now you are going to get ready or I am dragging you just like this."

You opened your mouth to say something but,

"Nope! No, no more whining!" She cut you off.

She then clapped her hands and said,

"Alright, both of you get ready, I'll see you downstairs!"

She smiled and kissed your cheek before descending down the stairs.

You looked at Lily and sighed. When you saw her smirking you gave her a dry look and finally accepted your faith.

Gorgeous

"Alright, girl, slow down." Remus said from your side, where he had been standing and rubbing your back for the past fifteen minutes.

After you came to the party, you were convinced that Lily and Marlene were not going to leave your side. But who were you kidding? They left you ten minutes in the party, saying that you need to live up and actually let James have his way with you.

You almost scoffed at the thought. James wanted nothing but to tease you by just assuming you fancied him. Only if he knew how true that was.

You were about to take a sip from your cup when it was snatched away from your hand,

"Hey!" You hit Remus on his arm for it but he did nothing other than shrug.

"You almost had enough to last you a lifetime."

When he saw your sour expression he sighed,

"Listen, I don't have any problem with how much you drink. If I am being honest, I love it when you get drunk, you spill all your secrets but I don't want you to grumble when you have the baddest hangover."

You gave him an odd look with your arms folded over your chest, you said,

"I don't tell any secrets when I'm drunk."

"Oh you so do."

"Do not."

"Do too."

"Tell me about one."

"You got the biggest crush on James."

You opened your mouth to counter his remark but your words died in your throat. Swallowing hard you whispered,

"I didn't…"

A smirk formed on his lips,

"You did."

You held your head in your hands and propped your elbows on the drink table near. You wanted to have the time of your life and here you were, finding out that you told your brother about your crush on his friend.

"You don't have any problem with it?" You mumbled with your head still in your hands.

Remus saw your sour expression and pulled your arm lightly and said,

"Hey, don't be sad now."

"Yeah, my brother found out that I have a crush on one of his best mates is not concerning."

"If it makes you feel better, I think he likes you too."

You gave him a dry look and took one more cup and gulped it in a single sip. The liquid burned your throat but atleast it was good enough to lighten the pressure on your head.

"Have you heard the way he talks?" You asked Remus who raised an eyebrow, clearly finding amusement in your condition. You gave him an annoyed look and continued,

"He talks like he knows all about everything. 'At Least come to the party', bloody buffoon. He–he knew that I would react this way and still! His voice is like the clawing of nails on iron. It gives me headache!" You looked at Remus who still had an annoying smile on his face,

"Why are you smiling?" You asked him annoyed.

"Why don't you say this to his face? Maybe he will go away" He suggested and you thought about this, maybe he was right. You found him looking behind you, you followed his eyesight and you frown deepened. Another glass down.

In front of you was James Potter goofing around with his best mate Sirius Black when other people were gawking at their sights.

"Doesn't he feel scared about how much people are attracted to him?" You mumbled to yourself but Remus heard you anyway and chuckled. You turned and glared at him.

"Honestly, why don't you just say all this to him? You know, it would be better." He said.

"You wait Remus Lupin till I find out about the person you like, then we will see." You turned towards the table again only to find the person you were not so subtly judging only to find him gone from there. Frowning, you raise your cup back to your lips and empty its contents in your throat. A shiver ran down your spine as the liquid burned your insides. You were starting to feel the outputs of the alcohol inside your system, your head started feeling dizzy and it felt really light. You turned around to find Remus surrounded by the Marauders this time and one of them was looking at you, he was looking at you.

Sirius draped his arm around your shoulder, breaking you out of the trance. You stumbled a bit as the alcohol in your system started taking a toll on you.

"Where's your boyfriend Y/N?" He asked you in mock concern.

You rolled your eyes but it did nothing other than increase the slowly growing headache you had.

A chuckle passed James's lips making you look at him, and unfortunately (or fortunately) he looked at you at the same time. You quickly diverted your eyes and shoved Sirius's arm from around you.

"Very funny, Black."

He grinned at you whereas you were slowly getting more and more dizzy.

"He still looks so scared whenever he looks at James."

You tried to hide your smile but it slipped anyway. Maybe you didn't know but your smile made James grin.

"Wait, why is he scared of James?" Remus asked suddenly. Your eyes widened at his words.

Oh shoot he didn't know.

It seemed like they too realised their mistake. They started stumbling over their words and you knew it was all on you.

"Where is Peter?" You asked, trying your best to change the topic.

Remus gave you a curious look but didn't question further.

"Er—Remus, come dance with me, won't you?" Sirius offered his arm to Remus, his nervous expression fading into a wide smirk. His words caused a blush to tint on Remus' cheeks and a small smile to form on his lips.

"Sure." And with that, they both left your drunk self with a very sober looking James Potter.

"Um–I think Marlene was calling me, I am going." You were about to walk away before he caught you by arm and pulled you back. You stumbled a bit, clearly due to intoxicating alcohol, or was it because of him.

"You never spend time with me." He pouted looking at you with those ocean blue eyes.

You were in such a daze that you didn't even react to his words. One reason was that now you were completely intoxicated and the other was that it was him.

"Well...you should take it as a compliment that I talk to everyone but you."

He was about to reply when suddenly darkness spread across the room. Shouts and protests rang out in the room, all increasing your headache.

Your hands frantically searched for something to hold on, when a bigger hand enveloped yours in it. It took time but your eyes adjusted in the darkness and you could lightly make out the face of the person holding your hand. Suddenly all the voices seemed to dim, suddenly the darkness was enough for you, suddenly you felt calm. Your stomach was churning but you were damn sure it wasn't the firewhisky.

You should think about the consequence of you touching my hand in the darkened room.

He pulled you closer to him by his grip on your hand. He wrapped his other arm around your shoulder and instinctively your head leaned on his shoulder.

You felt his breath hitch but you chose not to say anything.

"Someone was informed that McGonagall was on round, the candles will be lit again soon." He almost whispered to you. And just then the candles were lit again.

James expected you to draw away from him as soon as the candles were lit again but you didn't move from your position. Still wrapped around his side.

And he was definitely not complaining.

"James...dance with me?" You asked, lifting your head from his shoulder. You looked so innocent and adorable that he couldn't deny your face.

Or because of the fact that he was never in a lifetime going to lose this opportunity.

"Okay."

And just like that you both started to sway along the rhythm, so lost in your world that no one else existed for you two.

"You know what, you always scared me." He admitted, making you giggle.

"Why?" You asked, your head on his chest as he guided you both in a swaying way.

"First, you are Remus's sister, second, you are damn good with your tongue." It took him a while to understand what he said but till you were in a giggling fit. You were laughing so hard that you had to hold him so you wouldn't fall.

"Wait—wait, I didn't mean it like that!" He exclaimed, his hand wrapped around yours which was holding his shoulder. But you couldn't stop laughing, and that resulted in you missing the smile on his face.

When you finally stopped, you looked up to find him waving to someone. Following his gaze, you found a beautiful brunette from Ravenclaw giggling and waving at him.

Something inside you bubbled, whether it was the alcohol in your system or you were actually being brave that time, you nudged his arm and made him look at you.

"Is she your girlfriend?"

His eyes widened at your words, he whipped his head between you and that girl before shaking it violently.

"Merlin, no! She's actually the daughter of one of Mum's friends."

"Oh."

James looked at you and the way your shoulders visibly relaxed at words and your head went between his shoulder and neck, resting there.

"If it makes you feel better, I'm single."

You again, moved your head from his shoulder and this time he found an adorable pout on your lips.

"It doesn't." You said. He raised an eyebrow and said,

"It doesn't?" And you shook your head.

"It's worse actually, because you are so gorgeous that it hurts."

Your eyes fixed at his face, and even intoxicated, you were able to appreciate his beauty. He was gorgeous in every way, he was a good person, he had an aura around him that made everyone around him happy, one of the reasons you hated him, he was beautiful. He was gorgeous. And his eyes, his eyes were enough to make you feel like, sinking, drowning, dying.

"Don't I make you feel happy?"

"You make me feel so happy that it turns back to sadness," your bottom lip jutting out.

"There's nothing I hate more than what I can't have, and you why? Because all my life, I lost so many things that I don't want to hope for what I can't have. And I'm so furious at you for making me feel like this."

James moved his hand and rested it on your cheek, making you look at him, he chuckled.

"It's not funny." You said, removing his hand from your cheek. Again resting on your head on his shoulder.

James kept swaying you both, still processing everything that had happened in such a less amount of time. He was slowly feeling you relax around him, the whole night taking a toll on you.

"Hey, honey, you can't sleep like that." He said lowly to you. When you didn't budge, he nudged your head from his shoulder,

"Don't sleep like that." He said, making a frown take over your lips.

"I'm not asleep, my mind is alive." You grumbled in a sleepy voice. You felt his shoulder shake from the soft laugh escaping his lips, making you look up at him.

James could see the exhaustion and sleep in your eyes and decided that it was about time, you both called it a night.

"Alright, I think it's time you leave."

A frown formed on your lips, removing any traces of the sleepy face that you had. A dramatic sigh left your lips, you said,

"Guess, I have to stumble home to my cats. Alone."

"Y/N, you don't have any cat, and you just need to go to your dorm." James said, too used to these kinds of antics, all because of a certain Gryffindor.

You pouted, moving yourself to hug him and resting your head again on his shoulder.

"But, Remus always takes me with him, whenever I'm drunk."

"Yeah, but I'm not Remus, and he might actually murder me for doing so."

You looked up at him, trying your best to do puppy-dog eyes. Your idea seemed to work as he sighed in defeat.

"Alright, but if Remus kills me in the morning, it will be your fault."

It took time but you both finally reached the Marauders dorm, and there was only one person there. Peter, and he too was sleeping.

James took you and made you sit on one of the beds in the corner. He was still standing over you, looking quite flustered. You ran a hand on the messy bed sheet and looked up at him again to find him filling a glass with water.

"Is this Remus's bed?" You asked.

"Yeah." He said before handing you the glass of water, which you quickly downed and handed him the glass back.

James crouched in front of you and started removing your footwears. You ran a hand through his dark curls and giggled when they got messier than before.

When he was done, he looked up at you, still sitting in the same position, he asked,

"You can sleep here now, Remus will manage, or at least Sirius would be happy to share his bed."

You pouted again at his words, making him frown a bit.

"What happened now?"

"You won't kiss me?" Your question took him by surprise. He didn't expect you to say that.

"What do you mean?"

You tilted your head at side and said,

"You don't like me?" Your voice was small, making him feel bad.

"Is it because of my scars?" Your eyes were slowly filling with tears making James panic. He jumped up and sat beside you, and quickly took your face between his hands. You were slowly sniffing till then, making his heart hurt.

"No darling, why would you think that?"

"My previous boyfriend left me because of that, didn't he?"

James pursued his lips at the thought of your previous boyfriend, remembering how heartbroken you looked that day.

"It's not because of that, love. It's because you are drunk." You scrunched your nose at his words and said,

"Did you just quote those stupid clichè books?"

He raised an eyebrow and said,

"I do remember you loving those cliche books."

"But, I want you to kiss me now." You said while your lower lip jutting out.

"How about, I kiss you in the morning?" He said with a hopeful look on his face.

You whined at his words,

"But James, I am sober enough to remember this."

He sighed in defeat knowing how bad it can get. After a while he said,

"Okay, so I will give you a peck on your forehead right now, then in the morning, I will actually kiss you?" That seemed to work and you quickly agreed. So that night James kissed your forehead and made you fall asleep. And still in your sleepy form, you actually told him how you felt for him,

"You are so gorgeous James."

Gorgeous

Bonus:-

When you woke up the next day, you found yourself reliving all those things you did the night before and it certainly didn't help with your headache. You got up from the bed, trying your best to escape before things could get more awkward.

You almost reached the door when someone said your name,

"Y/N?"

You cringed, totally aware of the person to whom the voice belonged.

You turned around and came face to face with your worst fear. You opened your mouth to say something but he cut you off,

"Don't worry, everyone is downstairs. You were sleeping, so I thought it would be better to leave you. I didn't want you to commit an arson as soon as you woke, I have seen the way Moony gets if you wake him up early."

Suddenly there was an awkward silence settled between you two as there was nothing else to say. You clutched your head to stop the throbbing pain in your head.

James noticed this and made you sit on his bed. When you did, he took the spot beside you and handed you a vial. You looked at him confused, the he explained,

"Hangover potion, er—we kind of need it really often." He rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed. You tried to stop the smile forming on your face and drank the potion.

"Y/N?" He asked, his voice soft, full of warmth. You hummed, your heart beating wildly in your chest.

"Did you mean everything you said last night?"

You turned to face him, only then realising how close you two were. You started feeling lost again in his eyes, so you just hummed.

"Even about the kiss?" He whispered.

"Even about the kiss." And just like that his lips were on yours, moving gently and slowly, afraid that this moment might get lost if used in heat.

Your lips parted after what felt like an eternity, but even that didn't seem enough. He rested his forehead on yours then he said,

"You are so gorgeous, my love."

Five Times James Wanted To Kiss You + The One Time He Did

one

september 1st, 1976

the first of september had rolled around once more, the now changing weather and darkening leaves bringing along the first day of sixth year. excitement was thick in the air, coddling every being it came into contact with in it’s warm embrace. the air was practically buzzing with a mixture of excitement and nerves.

platform nine and three quarters was as busy as ever, flooded with people; apprehensive parents of first years wiping their tears as they waved their goodbyes, friends catching up with one another’s summer adventures, and seventh years desperately trying to break free of their clingy parents’ arms.

you felt lucky that you were relatively quick in getting onto the hogwarts express. it was known that if you were one of the last passengers, finding a good seat was a near impossible feat.

having rid yourself of your luggage, you bundled further into your scarf emblazoned with your house colours as the search for a carriage began. you bit back a smile. whilst you weren’t overly ecstatic thinking about the mound of work this year would bring, the joy of seeing your friends again strongly overpowered any thoughts of homework and essays.

lost in a daydream, you jumped when you were met with a familiar face merely inches away from yours. a grin spread across their lips as they pushed a lock of hair from their face, pulling you into their carriage without a word.

“looking for us, y/l/n?” sirius teased, releasing your wrist and flopping down next to remus who scowled as the boy narrowly avoided falling into his lap.

“trying to avoid you more like.” you joked, positioning yourself between james and peter who shuffled around to grant you some comfort. you unwound the scarf from your neck, deciding to bundle it up and place it in your lap for now, no longer a victim to the cold autumn breeze.

“awh, you don’t mean that.” james hummed, lifting the end of your scarf to tickle your face. “you’d miss our beautiful faces soon enough.”

knitting your eyebrows together, you feigned a thoughtful expression for a few moments.

“hm, i guess you’re right. i’d definitely miss remus too much.”

gasps came from three of the four boys in the carriage, the latter pumping his fist in the air with a cheer, riling the others up more.

“i thought we had something!” sirius pouted, hand clutching his heart like a maiden in one of the many period dramas you’d forced them to watch.

this remark caused the entire carriage to dissolve into hysterics, sirius unable to keep up the heartbroken act for long as he joined in with you.

through his chuckles, james looked at you, your head thrown back as you lost yourself in laughter, and he smiled. he’d always thought you were attractive, sure, but in a sight as pure as this you appeared almost divine.

without thinking, his eyes darted to the curve of your neck, to how soft your lips looked, to how happy and blissful you were in this moment, and he wished more than ever he could pause time to take in this glorious vision even for an extra second. once more his eyes returned to your lips.

he wished he could press his to yours in a quick peck, just to convey all of the thoughts he couldn’t fathom putting into words for you. it would say everything he needed to and more, but that ran the risk of ruining your friendship. even thinking of that word, friendship, was like an icicle to the heart, cold and cruel in its assault, and he knew he needed to change his train of thought instantly. before you could notice him, he tore his gaze from you and laughed along with the rest of you once more.

a warning glance was shot at remus in response to his raised brow, challenging him to even think about saying something. luckily, remus took the hint and mimed his lips being sealed with a smirk.

cheeky git, james thought. he wasn’t even being that obvious.

to say that the gryffindor common room was packed would be an understatement.

the quidditch match against slytherin earlier in the day had proved a large success which, of course, called for an elaborate celebration, in true teenage fashion.

the loud bass of the music reverberated around your head in harmony with the pounding of your heartbeat. you adjusted your outfit, silently cursing yourself for not wearing something that would be a little more forgiving in the heat of the party. the shots of firewhisky marlene had talked you and lily into doing not too long ago weren’t exactly helping the situation either.

you maneuvered your way through the crowd, a cup of an unknown drink with an incredibly pungent scent clasped in your left hand as you shouted apologies and ‘excuse me’s every now and again. your eyes scanned the room in search for a certain head of unruly, dark curls.

it didn’t take long to find him, in the heart of the party as you’d suspected. if anyone enjoyed these events, it was james.

his eyes widened upon noticing your presence, lifting the arm that wasn’t nursing a drink to pull you into a side hug. it wasn’t hard to notice that he was tipsy, emphasised by the way the embrace lasted just a little longer than it usually would.

james angled his chin downwards to look at you, a lazy smile playing on his lips.

“you alright?” he shouted, leaning closer to your ear so you could hear him. his breath tickled the shell of your ear and you shuddered.

“fine! just a bit warm, ‘s all.”

a large palm was pressed to your forehead, james’s face focused as he closed his eyes briefly. peter smirked into the lip of his cup at your perplexed expression, shaking his head in amusement at the scene before him.

“you feel it.” he confirmed, as if you were previously unaware. “c’mon, let’s get you some fresh air.”

and then he was gone, weaving through the throngs of people in the direction of the balcony. you followed him out, trying to keep him in your sights.

stepping through the archway into the night, the cold air hit you instantly. instead of a harsh slap to the face, it came as more of a pleasant caress from a friend. for a moment, you allowed yourself the feel the chill of the breeze on your exposed skin, closing your eyes as you sighed in relief, taking in the moment.

satisfied, you made your way over to james, a cigarette hanging between his lips as he lit it. standing next to him with your hands against the railing, you simply admired him, watching the way his slender fingers brought the cigarette towards his lips as he inhaled. grey smoke curled into the air, dancing and twisting further into the sky. noticing your stare, he quirked an eyebrow and held it out to you in offering.

you suppressed the embarrassment of being caught staring, begging your body to act nonchalant. just as you went to pluck it from his fingers, he shook his head, seemingly deciding against himself. instead of allowing you to take it yourself, he lifted it to your parted lips for you, almost dazed in his actions. you inhaled as he had, locking eyes with the boy as you blew out the smoke. stare unwavering, james put out the cigarette, tossing it over the balcony casually.

the sky abruptly seemed darker, but you swore you could see the stars reflected in james’s eyes. maybe it was the alcohol putting things into a new perspective, but under the timid glow of the moon you noticed just how beautiful james was. it seemed he was on a similar wavelength, his eyes locked on your lips as he licked his own. like a magnetic force pushing you forward, you curled into one another, faces inching closer together.

“y/n! james!” mary’s voice cut through the quiet, instantly shattering whatever air had appeared between you and james as you jumped apart. “i thought i’d lost you both. what are you doing out here? come and dance, they’re playing abba!”

sharing a look, you shrugged apologetically and allowed yourself to be dragged back into the party, the encounter with james floating to the back of your mind as the chorus of ‘dancing queen’ began to fill your head.

mary began to twirl you around, giggling as you screamed the lyrics to one another, totally oblivious to james still standing on the balcony. you’d probably forget this entire encounter in the morning, continue on like nothing ever happened between you two.

watching your frame with fondness, he was overcome by the realisation of just how fucked he truly was.

a wavering flame of a candle provided your main source of light as you hunched over your parchment, quill in hand. time had seemed to escape you; you could have been in the library for two hours or two days and you’d be none the wiser.

the fast approaching end of winter term brought along with it mock o.w.l.s. maybe if you were still in your second year, you could afford to skate through the mock exams with little to no revision, but with the passing years, these things became more and more important and required actual concentration and effort if you were going to do well.

a thump to your right broke your focus.

james’s head had slammed against the table, glasses long discarded and moved out of his grasp as he’d surrendered to the workload, a white flag held high in his mind. you weren’t entirely sure why he’d come along; you know he had no intention to actually study right now and, against your predictions, he actually hadn’t distracted you much at all.

“had enough there?” you simpered, nudging his shoulder with yours as you placed your quill down.

a muffled groan was your only response, his head shaking slightly where it rested against his forearms.

“god, ‘m bloody exhausted. i don’t know how you’re still going, i feel like my eyes are glued shut.”

this elicited a laugh from you as you turned your full attention to the boy next to you. learning the ingredients of veritaserum could wait, you supposed.

“because some of us don’t just magically get good grades, potter.” then, after a beat. “you can just go back to your dorm y’know, i won’t blame you.”

“no.” was his reply, plain and simple. “not leaving you here to die of boredom.”

he sat up straight now, rubbing his eyes with his fists as he grabbed his glasses, placing them onto his nose haphazardly. they lay crooked against his nose bridge, but he didn’t seem to know or care. you stifled a laugh and plucked them from his face, replacing them at a straighter angle without thinking too much about it before turning back to your book.

james couldn’t have the same nonchalance.

the soft brush of your fingers made his mind buzz as he replayed it over and over, the butterflies in his stomach becoming more powerful the more he thought about it. the casual affection had caught him severely off guard. his mind wandered to a place of more casual affection; of hands intertwined, of arms around waists, of soft touches of the lips.

how he longed to be able to do all those things and more with you without thinking twice about it. maybe one day, he hoped.

walking down the staircase, your breath caught in your throat at what lay ahead.

the great hall was a flurry of colourful dresses and suits, contrasting deeply with the gleaming white decor that seemed to sparkle with every movement. snow fell gently towards the floor, kissing your peers’ hair on its descent. they’d done a good job. it truly looked like a winter wonderland. it seemed silly to call it magical, being a student at ‘hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry’, but no other word seemed to fit the scene so perfectly.

for the past month or so, the yule ball had hung in the air with a promise of a whimsical night of fun and, in the marauders case, chaos. and now the fateful night was here, in all of its glory, and the thrill was bubbling up inside of you.

“sirius spiked the punch on the left hand side, just so you know.” came a voice from behind you.

you spun on your heel and there stood james, a velvet black suit clad to his frame, curls attempted to be restrained by copious amounts of gel. a lazy smirk played on his face, one that brought a smile to your own face.

“where’s your date?”

“don’t have one.” you shrugged, shrinking in slight embarrassment. it hadn’t bothered you in the slightest, but having to say the words allowed sounded a lot worse than you expected.

however this caused james’s lips to quirk upwards slightly, eyebrows raised in the way they always did when he had an idea.

“just so happens, i don’t have a one either. but since everyone is off dancing with their dates and i’d hate for us to be left out, i propose we dance together. strictly platonically, of course.”

under the twinkling lights, you grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the dance floor. you weaved your way through the twirling couples, passing peter who was awkwardly waltzing with his date. finding a space, you let james lead you, following his steps as he expertly led you in an imitation of a ballroom dance.

“since when could you dance like this?”

“padfoot taught me.”

“sirius black knows how to ballroom dance?” you guffawed.

james’s jaw went slack and he slapped a hand against his forehead.

“shit, don’t tell him i told you. he’ll kill me.”

your laughter was cut off by the beginning of a faster song. the surrounding couples began to separate, forming groups of friends who jumped around, pulling out any move they could think of. somehow, remus, peter and sirius had found you both, and pulled you further into the crowd.

remus’s arm was slung around your shoulder as you all shouted the lyrics to the four seasons, crashing into each other recklessly with every step. everyone had shed their insecurities, bodies fuelled only by the exhilaration that was thick in the air. it was almost electric, the way that your body had a mind of its own.

you directed your attention to james, singing the lyrics to him as you pulled him closer to you, your hands moving his arms around in an uncoordinated fashion. he allowed himself to be controlled, smiling stupidly.

it was impossible to not match your energy, what when you were looking at him like that, all smiles and laughter. it was the freest he’d seen you for weeks, hair messy and cheeks flushed with exertion, and he wished more than anything he could take a picture of this moment and look at it forever.

james had seen some extraordinary things in his time at hogwarts, but nothing could compare to the way you looked right now. it took all of his strength not to give in to cupid’s tricks, to ask you to be his and kiss you until the end of time.

but then the song had come to an end, and you were following sirius to one of the tables. he was still standing dumbfounded until you turned around, beckoning him with a finger.

“come on! we’re getting punch!”

“now, please remember to be careful of the venomous tentaculas, they’re teething.” professor sprout’s voice echoed around the herbology greenhouse as you all warily eyed the plants on the tables in front of you. “i want an essay on all of its properties by next thursday.”

herbology was always an interesting time, due to the fact that you were seated with the four marauders, who rarely took a great deal of notice of sprout’s warnings when it came to the more dangerous plants. you’d just spent the last half an hour listening to your professor drone one about the properties of the plant, and how a majority of them operated for their self defense. the severe lack of interest was proved by sirius, who made to poke at the plant with his wand, stopped only by remus swatting his hand down, almost unphased in his reaction.

“d’you reckon i could beat it in a fight?” sirius questioned, sizing up its green vines as though he were genuinely considering it.

“i know for a fact that it would absolutely thrash you mate.” james scoffed. “against me, however, it wouldn’t stand a chance.”

“mhm, whatever helps you sleep at night.” you murmured, only half paying attention to their conversation as you observed the venomous tentacula in order to make note of at least some of the properties before the lesson’s end. free time was becoming sparse as the second half of the year approached, and you were determined to have as little homework as possible. amidst your scrutiny of the plant, one of the longer vines lashed out at you, causing you to jump back in your seat in shock.

james’s hand landed on top of yours as he chuckled slightly, patting it gently in an attempt to comfort you.

“you alright there?”

“i wasn’t expecting it to do that.” you confessed, laughing at your own shock and shaking your head in slight disbelief.

“now look who doesn’t listen to the warnings.” peter teased with raised eyebrows.

“no need to worry y/n.” james grinned, holding his chin up proudly. “i’d ‘ve gladly fought it for you.”

a roll of your eyes signalled your amusement at his bold claim, but james wasn’t fully sure if he was joking at this point. he’d probably do anything, even stop the world from spinning if you asked him to, and it scared him. this on top of the copious impulses to crash his lips to yours signalled feelings a lot stronger than a mere crush. but if there was one thing james potter was good at, it was hiding his feelings for you.

he'd done it for four years, he wasn't going to spoil it now.

before you knew it, you were running, feet pounding heavily against the stone floors as breathless laughs permeated the otherwise silence of the castle.

james’s hand was in yours, grip firm and assured, pulling you along behind him to keep stride with remus and peter who were far ahead, turning back every now and again to reaffirm yours and james’s presence. sirius had split off long ago, finding an opportunity to hide behind a tapestry before filch could spot him. it was likely he’d managed to slip back to the common room by now, the lucky bastard.

maybe pulling a prank on filch without a clear line of escape mapped out wasn’t the smartest plan the five of you had ever had, but it would be a great story to tell later down the line. you could already imagine sirius, dramatic hand gestures and all, recounting the tale to the inhabitants of the common room and anyone else who’d bother to listen.

shortly, you had approached a fork in the corridor and were faced with two paths branching off in opposite directions. it was clear you had to make a decision, and fast. whilst peter and remus sprinted down one side, james dragged you down the other.

“it’ll be harder to catch us if we all split up!” he said over his shoulder, hand still gripping yours tightly. “just hope it’s not us who gets caught!”

as you were so focused on running without tripping over your own feet, you didn’t realise james was pulling you both towards a closet.

he slammed the door shut behind you, pressing a finger to his lips as you listened out for filch. darkness consumed you both, a sliver of light coming from underneath the door frame. space was not a luxury. you were incredibly close to james, chest almost flush against his as you waited. every breath allowed you to feel the rise and fall of his chest, and oh god he was still holding your hand.

fidgeting in your pockets, you managed to grasp your wand, a whispered ‘lumos’ causing the tip of your wand to weakly illuminate your surroundings in a hazy glow.

you tried to look anywhere but james. james and his soft hair, james and his sparkling eyes, james and his soft lips that he kept nibbling and licking as he pressed his ear against the door frame once more. the intensity of your admiration must have alerted james as he was quick to face you, but he didn’t seem uncomfortable by your attention.

in a sudden surge of bravery, you ignored your instincts screaming at you to look away and pretend nothing happened, keeping your eyes fixed on him. this time, it was james who scanned your face, eyes flitting from place to place until they found a home on your lips.

time seemed to slow as he leaned towards you, pressing his lips to yours in a soft kiss. in his eagerness, your noses bumped together slightly, but he was quick to lean in again. your arms sat around his neck, wand falling to the floor when you pulled him closer to you, as if he would dare try to break free from your embrace. james brought his hands to your face, one large palm cupping your cheek whilst the other found a place in your hair, pushing a lock behind your ear.

the kiss was only broken by a sudden flood of light, causing you to squint at the figure in the doorway as you jumped apart.

“oh? i’m terribly sorry, am i interrupting something here?”

“fuck off moony!” james groaned, flipping off your smug looking friend who was definitely not sorry in the slightest.

“cheers guys, wormtail owes me two sickles now.”

“you’re the worst.”

brainwashed [Fred Weasley x reader]

tags: fluff, confessions, first kiss, reader-insert

word count: 1.5k

summary: Fred thinks you like George. Technically, you told him so. Though, technically, it’s a lie.

Brainwashed. You must have been brainwashed because you were in love with Fred Weasley.

You must be crazy, or delusional, or imperiused, or perhaps poisoned. He had beguiled himself to you.

You were as opposed to your infatuation as you were opposed to many things - like murder. And torture.

And infatuated you were. Your eyes sought him out everywhere you went. He was lovely, truly, with gorgeous brown eyes and a charming face, a quirky and honest smile. On top of all this, you loved how free he looked. Incredibly free, as though nothing could ever hold him back.

You loved him. He was going to kill you.

You picked at the roast dinner on your plate. Your appetite had dissipated the moment you'd realised you were in love with him and it had yet to return. It'd been 3 weeks.

You sighed mournfully, holding your face in your hand.

"Are you finished? We're going back to the common room," one of your friends asked.

"No, I should probably finish this, you guys go ahead."

Your friends smiled and bid you goodbye. Goodness, you wished you could stomach something, anything at all, but the only thing you'd managed in days was crackers and you'd already eaten the ones your dad had sent via owl.

Oh, how you craved a sleeve of saltines.

You poked again at the roast potatoes and gravy on your plate and frowned. Maybe you'd be better off skipping it for today anyway. Surely throwing up used more energy than what would've been gained.

You looked intensely at the grain of the table. You willed yourself to shake it off, move on with your life.

But you were in love.

Your eyes flitted to him again. He was sitting a few feet away with his brother and your friend, Lee Jordan.

You'd known Lee through your shared passion for gobstones, you'd even paired together for team matches in second and third year. Since then you'd remained friendly, often playing together when no one else was willing. A dangerous game, gobstones.

To your great misfortune, George had noticed your staring. You looked away quickly, the tops of your ears warming red. This was hardly the first time you'd been caught staring at Fred this year. Hell, this week.

You stabbed the tines of your fork into an ugly looking sprout, tempted to eat it just to look as though you couldn't possibly have been spying.

"You don't have to look so sickened, it's only a sprout," he said.

You gazed up at him pleadingly.

Fred gifted you an easy smile, sliding into the seat opposite you. His robes were ragtag and scruffy, his shirt untucked. The only thing straight was his tie, though it seemed a few good shakes from falling off.

You floundered for something to say.

"Not hungry?" he asked kindly. You looked down at your plate.

"Oh - no, not really. I'm actually feeling a bit sick."

"Yes, I'd say so. You're as green as the sprouts."

You laughed. His smile curved wider.

"So, Y/N, Lee has a theory. I've come to see if he's right, and win a few galleons, of course."

"Right," you said nervously.

Fred knocked his hand on the table. His lovely, lovely hand.

"Right," he agreed, "So, the theory. Well, please don't feel disrespected by this, it's purely theoretical, though if you do, that's alright too. I'm sure Georgie will be very flattered, as you're a stunning piece of work, though he's very happily embedded into the sides of Angelina Johnson."

"Okay," you cut him off, confused. "So, the theory?"

"Well, you fancy George, don't you?"

It took you a few seconds to catch up. "Fancy - I fancy George?" you asked, or you thought you asked. It came out flat and strangled.

Fred clicked his fingers and clambered to his feet. "Damn. I owe Lee a few quid after that one! Funny thing, I thought you fancied me. Well, see you around doll."

You were up and out of the hall before you could witness what you'd created.

-

You spent that night crying. It was more of a stress cry than a sad cry, no gasping sobs or heavy breathing, though you felt a bit light-headed when it was over.

The tears started in the shower and never quite stopped. At breakfast, you were careful to bite your lip and look up at the lights whenever you felt it coming on again.

Your eyes were puffy all through classes. Your friends shot you sneaky glances through the day. One of the guys from Hufflepuff in your charms class asked you how you were and offered you a biscuit.

It was a disaster.

You kept waiting for George to come up to you. It could go one of four ways.

1. George approaches you. Tells you that's he's flattered but definitely dating someone.

2. George approaches you. Tells you he finds your attention uncomfortable, and that he hopes you can control yourself.

3. George approaches you. Tells you he loves you too. Angelina murders you in the Gryffindor common room.

4. George approaches you. You cut him off and tell him the truth. He tells his brother. You never leave your room again.

You sighed.

Well, maybe you'd lived a nice life.

You were dismissed from lessons earlier than usual. You gathered your things in a rush and practically flew through the door, trying to turn as many corners as you could before the inevitable panic began.

"Y/L/N!"

Shit. You blanched, spinning on your hell.

"Heeeeeeyyy, George, how are you?

"I'm good. Yourself?"

"Oh, I'm fab, thanks."

"Right... so listen. I just wanted to say, I'm flattered that you fancy me, but I'm deeply in love with my girlfriend, and-"

"It's Fred. I fancy Fred."

George squinted at her, mouth still open mid-word. "But, you told Fred you liked me."

You wrung your hands together. "Yes, well. I was nervous, and I wasn't really expecting him to ask me, and-"

George laughed suddenly and loudly, startling you.

"This is brilliant. Ha! Oh my Godric." He reached forward and patted you on the shoulder. "You could've picked worse. He's very handsome; I'm sure you'll have lovely babies." He wiped a finger under his eye as though catching a falling tear.

Then he turned and began to sprint.

"I- George!" you yelped.

"Sorry!!" he shouted over his shoulder, "Twin code of honesty!"

"Twin code of being a tattletale," you said to yourself. "Twin code of ruining my life. Twin code of being absolute wankers.”

-

You were reading in a secluded section of the library when he finally found you.

"Weasley, I know you aren't of the habit, but please leave me to die shamefully of embarrassment unaccompanied."

Fred sat on the table next to your book, looking down at you.

"You told me you liked George."

"Technically, I didn't."

"You said, 'I like George', what is technical about that?"

You floundered. Closed the book and marked your page and tried not to look at him.

You failed. "Okay," you admitted, "I did say that. But I meant it more like... 'I like George?'. With a question mark. You know."

He didn't reply, though his gaze was intense.

"Like, 'I like George?'" You exaggerated your questioning tone this time.

He still didn't answer, lips pressed together tightly.

"Like-"

"If you tell me you fancy my brother one more time, I'm going to kiss you."

"You are?"

"Y/N."

"I like-"

Fred cut you off, covering your mouth with his hand. You looked up at him dolefully.

"It's almost like you want me to."

"I don't?" you asked against his hand.

"Well, can I?"

"Can you?

"You're impossible."

"Yes, you can kiss me."

He grinned, your face in his hand.

He leaned down. The air was warm between you and warmer when your lips met. He tasted like caramel.

You fed into it, pushing your hands up onto his neck and in his hair. He responded in turn, deepening the kiss with a familiarity you tried not to think of.

You wanted to be so close in that moment you pushed yourself up. The chair you sat on tumbled backwards, startling you both.

Fred only laughed, wiping the wetness from your lips.

He would kill you. You just knew it.

“Excuse me, claustrophobic child coming through.”

It seemed as though the endless amount of bodies crowding the Potter house living room didn’t quite care about the teenager trying to nudge her way through them so she could escape to the outside and avoid the girls from school that had been invited along with their parents. Y/N Potter was not one for friends so the girls who were here were the ones who bullied her, also the ones who her mother had said she would toss out of the party if she saw such things.

Obviously Y/N couldn’t have told her mother to not invite the girls’ parents because that would’ve been unfair on the adults relationship but that didn’t mean she wanted to be around the kids like her father had encouraged her to do before her mother had explained that they were the ones who poked fun at the less popular Potter sibling.

James seemed to be doing well in distracting the girls with his boyish charm that was solely served for Lily Evans, Y/N rolled her eyes at him as he talked to the girl’s parents with his unnatural posture and his hair actually looking…neat. It was weird to see but it seemed as though Lily’s parents were buying into it and Lily was stood nearby with a bright smile on her face as she looked in between her boyfriend and her parents.

It had taken him almost 7 years but finally, James had gotten the girl and Y/N couldn’t have been happier for him and for the sake of herself who had to hear Lily’s name on a daily basis and still did but it was less of James being a depressed bitch and more him being a lovesick puppy. He wasn’t the cause of her escape and even the girls weren’t the main cause, it was that one guy who had been chasing her around since the start of sixth-year

She had been getting drinks with Lily whilst James was changing his shirt upstairs for the tenth time that evening when he first approached, Arnie McLaggen, the boy with the biggest ego ever. And that is saying something when she has James Potter as a brother and Sirius Black as a regular nuisance. Arnie put an arm around her shoulders which she got out of by spotting her mother and walking over to her.

The second time he approached, she had been dancing with Remus Lupin, one of her brothers friends. David Bowie had started playing because James had reminded his parents to be considerate of the muggle families who would come to the party and Y/N had dragged Remus to dance because the two of them absolutely adored Moonage Daydream and never missed a chance to rock out together.

There had been a point where Y/N thought she was madly in love with Remus but it turned out being just because he was the only male who wasn’t her brother who gave her attention, they tried the dating thing and figured they were better off as friends. A year later, McLaggen’s affections had started and at first he was hesitant because to everyone else, it seemed like Remus and Y/N were dating but James had let it slip that they weren’t so McLaggen felt like he was free to pursue his affection.

He had started dancing with the two of them and had tried to worm himself in the middle of them but Y/N left them with the excuse she needed the bathroom and Remus had given the deadliest glare with a promise of I’ll get you for this when he saw her heading towards the front door instead of towards the downstairs bathroom.

And that was where she was now, squeezing her way through the last two bodies until she was at the door, opening it so the cold air hit her immediately and she started wishing she’d put on some tights with the dress her mother had forced her into or at least a cardigan.

But alas it was just her and the cold air.

“Hello, little Potter.”

And Sirius Black. Y/N turned her head towards where he sat on the stairs that lead up to the porch, she had been leaning on the porch railing, her breath coming out in puffs of cold air. A small fog floating away from her every time she spoke, the only small fogs coming from Sirius were the ones from the cigarette in his hand.

“Hello, Black.” She said indifferently, breathing out with a shiver and watching as more fog escaped from her. “Smoking on my porch, I see.”

“It’s not your porch, it’s Monty’s porch.” He pointed his cigarette at her with a raised eyebrow and she scoffed with a roll of her eyes, looking away. “And Effie said I couldn’t smoke inside so…here I am, protecting your little nostrils.”

“I’m not little.”

“Course you are.” He took another puff of his cigarette, his cloud of smoke far denser than any Y/N could ever breathe out. “Young, cute, innocent-”

“I’m not that innocent.” She defended, shaking her head as Sirius cocked his head at her and the end of his cigarette burned orange before he took it out of his mouth and blew out the smoke. “Plus, I’m only like 5 months younger than you, no need to get so big-headed.”

“Not that innocent?” Sirius narrowed his eyes at her, smirking and wiggling his eyebrows and she looked over at him with a blank face. “Did you and Moony get it on and never tell us?”

“Your enthusiasm concerns me.” She shook her head at him, turning away.

“Your apathy concerns me.” Sirius retorted, still staring at the side of her head as he took another puff of his cigarette. “You avoided the question, did you and Moony get it on?”

“No, we did not get it on, stop being so crass.” Y/N scowled at him and his large grin before turning away again with a shiver whilst a large wave of cold air settled over them.

“You’re shivering.” He noted.

“It’s cold.”

“Come here.” He patted the spot next to him on the stair and Y/N rolled her eyes before walking over to him and sitting where he had pat. There was a beer bottle and the stair below and she glanced between that and his cigarette with judgemental eyes.

“You’re cutting your lifespan about 30 years right now, you know that?” She asked him and he smirked at her, taking the cigarette out of his mouth and blowing it away from her direction which she gave him silent thanks for.

“Still got 40 left.” He smirked and she rolled her eyes again, crossing her arms over her chest to keep her warm as her teeth chattered and her knees bounced too. “You want my jacket?”

“What?” Y/N looked over at him, furrowing her eyebrows and he grinned at her, cigarette held between his fingers and not in his mouth for once.

“I said do you want my jacket?” He asked her, a tiny smug smirk on his face as he tapped his cigarette with his finger and small bits of ash fell off of the end and onto the stair below the one they were sat on. “You’re cold.”

“But then you’ll be cold.” She shook her head at him before glancing down at the ash on her porch step sat right next to his beer bottle.

Sirius shrugged his shoulders before putting his cigarette back in his mouth and shedding himself of the classic leather jacket he always sported, underneath was a long-sleeved black shirt with the top few buttons undone that Y/N tried not to stare at too much. There was no doubt that he was extremely attractive, all of her brother’s friends were, but Sirius was right in front of her with a half-fancy half-casual theme of outfit which made him look…appealing.

He held the jacket out to Y/N, smiling with the cigarette in his mouth whilst he opened it up and held it behind her so all she needed to do was put an arm in the hole. Begrudgingly, she did so. Then she put her other arm in the other sleeve as Sirius retreated his hands from her and took the cigarette out of his mouth again to showcase his large grin.

“I never thought I’d live to see the day that Y/N Potter wore my leather jacket.” He said, taking another drag of his cigarette with a small laugh. Y/N rolled her eyes at the words before they fell warily onto the cigarette in between his lips. “Want to try?”

“What?” Her eyes snapped back up to his, head shaking slightly in a way of snapping her from the embarrassing trance she’d been in.

“I said, do you want to try?” He gestured his hand which had the cigarette in it and Y/N widened her eyes at the insinuation. “I just saw you eyeing it so I was wondering if you wanted a taste…”

“I-” She cut herself off, staring at his smirk and remembering his comment from earlier. Her own eyes darkened with challenge and she saw Sirius raise his eyebrows at her. “Yeah, okay.”

He held it out to her, eyes surveying her every movement like a vulture stalking its prey. Her fingers took it from his much larger ones and she nervously stared at the end that Sirius had constantly put in his mouth. They met eyes and she felt the challenge again at the glint in his eyes. On a whim she put the cigarette in her mouth and after a moment sucked before yanking it away from her mouth and falling into a fit of coughs as the smoke clouded out.

“Oh my God, that’s disgusting.” She coughed out, gagging whilst holding it out to Sirius again and he took it with an amused smile at her harsh glare. He bent down slightly and came back up with the beer bottle in his hands, holding it out to Y/N who took it gratefully and sipped it down to try and rid of the taste of smoke.

Sirius watched as a couple of drops of beer fell from her mouth and dripped down her chin as she practically downed the drink. He leant forward and took it away from her, smiling as he muttered a ‘that’s enough’ and she wiped her chin with the back of her hand, nose crinkled at the taste of smoke and beer.

She turned to glare at Sirius who took another drag of his cigarette, blew it out before drinking the last bit of the beer. He took the bottle away from his glistening lips with another smirk as he looked into her eyes that quickly glanced down to his slightly wet mouth before they went back to his storming grey eyes.

“I can taste you now.”

“You are disgusting.” She reached a hand out to slap at him, only catching him slightly as he laughed and placed the bottle down before taking the cigarette out of his mouth and stubbing it out next to the previous ash pile. He left it on the step and Y/N stared at it with a frown.

“Mad that I’ve messed up your porch?” Sirius pouted and she stared at him blankly.

“Yes, actually.” She said indignantly.

“I’m sorry.” He said as he scooted closer to her, their thighs touching at the close proximity and Y/N looked down at them, gulping slightly. “I can’t buy you a new porch so is there anything else I can do to make up for it?”

She really hated his sarcasm sometimes. But the one thing she hated more was how compelling he looked under the moonlight when she looked up to reply, their faces just a couple of inches away from one another; a small smile on his and an emotionless expression on hers.

“You could stop smoking.” She suggested quietly, feeling it would be inappropriate to talk in a normal volume when they were this close; she also didn’t want to breathe the crude smell of her breath into his face. “It’s not good for you.”

“For you, Miss Potter, I’d stop the sun from setting so your days are longer.” He said just as quietly and she smiled, shaking her head at him.

“I like the night time.”

“Then I’ll stop the moon.” He shrugged his shoulders, glancing away from her for a moment to look at the bright crescent in the sky. She stared at the side of his face as he looked away, her smile only growing at the sight. “Anything to make you happy.”

“Where did all this come from?” She laughed slightly as he turned back to face her and their eyes met so beautifully he thought he might faint.

“It’s always been here.” He said, enjoying the sight of her brown eyes glinting at him in a way he never thought they might. The blush was prominent on her cheeks like it always was and he could tell that she wanted to hide it but didn’t know how without disrupting the moment.

“10!” Came a loud shout from the house and both of their heads snapped towards it, through the window they could see everyone counting down together. Remus was still stuck with Arnie who seemed to be looking around for her, James was holding Lily close with an arm around her waist and Y/N’s parents were standing with one another too.

“Here’s to the end of 1977.” Sirius grabbed the empty beer bottle and raised it slightly before putting it back down and Y/N laughed slightly as everyone yelled the countdown.

“Your apathy concerns me.” She quoted him from earlier, looking at his emotionless expression.

“I have a feeling that 1978 will be better.” He smiled, turning back to face her and she turned back too. “Especially if this is the last day of 1977.”

“5!”

“What do you mean by that?” She asked, biting her lip to stop her grin from getting too large; he grinned just as big.

“4!”

“You’ve finally realised how handsome I am, of course.” He rolled his eyes playfully and flipped his hair. Y/N scoffed through a laugh and hit his shoulder lightly whilst he chuckled to himself before they both fell silent and stared at one another.

“3!”

“Happy New Year, Sirius.” Y/N smiled at him, staring into his grey eyes. It was unfair how beautiful they were whilst she was stuck with rubbish brown eyes, even Remus’ brown eyes were pretty but hers were just…bland.

“2!”

“Happy New Year, Y/N.” Sirius practically whispered, staring just as fixatedly into her own eyes. He looked so enchanted that she wondered if he was just admiring his own reflection.

“1!”

The house erupted with cheers and yells of people wishing each other a happy new year and Y/N went to turn her head to look at people joy through the window but her cheek was caught before she could and a pair of lips were pressed onto hers at once.

She let herself relax and her eyes flutter shut as she kissed back, smiling slightly as her lips worked against Sirius’ and his worked against hers just as softly. If you had told her even an hour before that she would be kissing Sirius Black at midnight, she would’ve laughed in your face and walked away. Now it didn’t seem to ridiculous to her.

Being out on the porch with everyone else inside the house created a lovely atmosphere that only amplified with the kiss, he tasted of cigarette smoke and beer which was what she was expecting and she supposed that she tasted the same. Y/N had seen him make out with plenty of girls in the corner of parties back at school but this was different, it wasn’t messy like the others had been.

He didn’t even try to turn it into a snog, just let the kiss take it’s course. His hand was on her cheek, thumb caressing her skin ever so often and one of her hands were on the porch, balancing herself. The other sat pathetically on her lap and she hesitantly brought it up to the back of his neck.

Sirius pulled away slowly, both of their lips tingling as they stared at each other with pupils dilated and stupid smiles on both of their faces. Y/N twirled a strand of his hair around her finger and he used his hand to brush some stray hairs out of her own face.

“I think you’re right.” She said as his fingers ghosted her forehead, the hairs being pushed away. He hummed in acknowledgment and she paused in the twirling of his hair. “1978 is gonna be way better.”

“Everything’s better when I’m with you.” He said, moving his hand from her face to her waist, letting it rest there as they sat close together. She moved her hand on the porch up to his neck to join her other hand.

She leaned forward and their foreheads rested against each other for a moment before Sirius let his head fall onto her shoulder, tugging her closer to him on the porch as he spoke into his jacket that was on her own arms.

“James is gonna kill me.”

“Yep.” Y/N decided there was no point in reassuring him, he whined into her shoulder and lifted his head back up, pouting. She leant forward quickly and pecked his lips, making him smile instead. “You should get your affairs in order.”

“I owe Remus 149 galleons.”

“What?” She laughed, shaking her head at him as he shrugged casually. “You boys and your bets.”

“You know you love us.”
