Jungkook looks good enough to marry. At the very least, that is certainly how he hopes he looks because if the reverse were true, then he’s in fucking deep shit.

He has wasted the last twelve consecutive hours absolutely agonizing over this. Such self tortures include slathering acne creams and tea tree oil on top of the flaming zit that erupted like a volcano on his chin, burning the tips of his ears with scorching hair straighteners, and ironing his suit four times over just to be sure it is wrinkle-free—and that’s merely what happened this morning.

Today, he woke up at 4 o’clock in the morning with anxious butterflies flapping away in his belly. It is approaching six o'clock in the evening and they have not dwindled so much as multiplied.

The ring is a stone weighing down his pocket, sitting neat and pretty in a little black box. It has been in his possession for six months now, concealed beneath stacks of song lyrics in a locked studio drawer, and will only be making its supreme debut in the matter of a few hours. Jungkook sits on their bed as he runs his thumb over its flat edges and attempts to come to terms with the fact that this is happening, this is really happening, everything could burn and break and disappear, oh God.

The ballroom that you were standing in was huge. The white marble floor was polished to the point that you could see your reflection gazing back at you. It was gorgeous, the party that you were in, a success in the books.

However you couldn’t bring yourself to enjoy it, none of the extravagant galore around you could take your mind away from what you had heard all night. Whispers, snide comments–taunts thrown your way. They thought you couldn’t hear them, or maybe they knew. Maybe they wanted you to hear them. 

You fold further inside your shell, your shyness taking over as your insecurities rear their ugly heads. You have always been more on the quieter spectrum, oftentimes whispering your opinions because you were too afraid of making others around you mad. But you had been getting better, slowly and steadily coming out of your shell. 

But tonight, you felt like you were back to square one. You don’t fully understand why that is either, maybe because those taunts hit wounds that still hadn’t healed fully. The scabs of your insecurities are still too fresh—too raw to be prodded like that.
