Umbrella Academy, Hamilton, Part 4
Umbrella Academy, Hamilton, Part 4
On to Episode 8, Interior, Bar scene.
I immediately pick up on the iconic Hamilton Escarpment right outside the window, and after pointing that out to Garwik, he flatly announces it to be the Corktown Tavern, having lived nearby in his youth.
Which you can actually see written on the window through the blinds.
Popular Irish Pub and band venue, between downtown and the escarpment, built in 1931.

I remember reading the comics years back, so I was intrigued to hear it being adapted into a series.
Moreso when I heard it was being filmed locally - Toronto and Hamilton.
But I was not expecting 3:15 into the first episode to notice "Wait, one way street sign, escarpment in the background, and there's the GO train on the overpass? That's Main East and John Street South? OH SHIT THEY LIVE IN THE GAY BAR?!"
Welcome to The Embassy Nightclub, now closed up. And. Used for exteriors in Netflix series, it seems. Good times. But I can't stop giggling every time they're outside.
The person who came up with “Righty tighty, lefty loosy” has had quite the influence on the world as we know it.
-Screaming "Simple and Clean" inside my motorcycle helmet while I wait for the red light to change. These past two weeks, phew. KH3 was good, lookin' forward to more.
Never had coworkers who played videogames when Kingdom Hearts all first started, Garwik was the one who was interested in it, I was sort of noncommital. I'd discovered Studio Ghibli in 1997 and was increasingly unimpressed with how cliche and uninspired Disney films seemed comparatively. I'd played a few Square games, but meh? Running around in the stupid derivative media Mouse worlds? For some reason I started playing it anyway, and Riku caught my attention as a character. Yah, yah, the tortured hero schtick.
And it's, what, 17 years later?
It's fun with the internet and social media now; to see everyone talking and sharing and making art and coming up with plot theories. You're all awesome.
I got a Riku hoodie for Xmas, maybe I'll wear it to work next week and see if anyone comments. A couple years back I had a Tevinter Imperium sweatshirt from Dragon Age 3 and one of the actors was like !!! and we both ignored work for five minutes talking about who we romanced, as you do. (DORIAN).
some of you haven’t been playing kh since 2002 and it shows

Out for a birthday ride. Grabbing TWEWY at the EBGames.
This sky.
Swung over to Taco Bell. Down on his luck looking guy staggers over and asks why I'm wearing a helmet. 'I ride a bike,' I answer.
"A bicycle?" he returns, confused.
'A motorcycle," I correct.
"Oh like a scooter!" he declares.
'No, like an NC750, a Honda Adventure Bike,' I clarify.
"In this weather?!"
'Yes.'
"I used to ride. I rode Harleys."
'Ah, I prefer Hondas.'
"Yah, but I was a BIKER."
'That's cool... But... I prefer bikes that work.'
Holy shit his face. One of the most intense glares I have ever seen. Think I touches a nerve.
Sorry Mr. "BIKER". Time for me to ride my motorcycle home under this amazing sky.
