guys I'm not hating on marylily whatsoever, bc I've read some great fanfics about them, but I think pandalily would just work better.

however, I definitely think Mary and Lily had a thing going on, like maybe a friends with benefits thing when they were trying to figure out their sexualities (safe to say they did like women). Mary would take care of Lily after and they'd fall asleep in the same bed, but in the morning they would wake up and act like nothing happened, bc it was normal to them.

but when Lily started having feelings for Pandora and she had to call things off with Mary, Mary hugged her tight and told her she would always be there for her, and Lily did the same. they were always best friends who could see each other in their most vulnerable states and still act normal, because to them it was. and that's what I love about Mary and Lily's friendship.

my favourite thing to see in the fandom is James and Remus' friendship. everyone talks about sirius and James, and sirius and remus, but James and Remus were also extremely close.

After The Prank, James helped Remus enormously and never left his side. he never stopped being friends with sirius, but he knew that Remus needed him more in those moments, and he was always there for him.

when Remus was freaking out about liking Sirius, James was the first one to know, and the first one to help him. he was Remus' wingman and was there every step of the way.

when Remus couldn't sleep, James would sneak into the kitchens with him to have a midnight snack (because most nights James wouldn't be able to sleep either, he had way too much energy), and they would walk around for hours afterwards, trying to find more secret passages for the map.

and when James fell in love with Regulus, Remus kept his secret, even though he knew if Sirius found out he'd be dead. and when Reg took the mark, Remus coaxed James out of bed when he couldn't even stand. he helped him shower, and brought him food, and never once complained about it.

then when James fell in love again, this time with Lily, Remus helped him plan dates, as he spent so much time with Lily studying that he knew loads about her.

in conclusion, they were thick as thieves, and no one can tell me otherwise.
