These are unlikely to be new to anyone who's been in the Supernatural fandom for a long time, but they're ones that come to mind when contemplating this topic. Strongly recommend all three.

has anyone else ever had a fanfic that just... haunts them? like it's been months and maybe even years since you read it, but it just lingers with you and you can never truly leave behind the imprint it made on you? and maybe it's just a single line, one sentence that you can't shake off, that takes up residence in your mind and stays there, feeding into your psyche and subtly influencing your brainspace and maybe even your writing or other works?

I feel like Jared would just be so excited to talk about all his favourite bits and waiting for your reaction to them; telling you what was going on during filming particular scenes and ending on his fourth tangent 30 minutes later so you have to rewind because you've missed half of the episode. He is too precious for this world. I want.

Dean mewled, paw covering half of his face to hide himself from the world. It had only been a day since he'd been turned into a cat, and he was already desperate to be fixed. Sam had promised that he was working on it, but the fact that he'd gone out and bought a litterbox and a large bag of sensitive stomach cat food was a bad sign.

Speak of the devil, Sam came up and stroked Dean's little kitty head with his huge hand. Dean closed his eyes and let himself enjoy it. That was the only good to come of this. (And having a tail wasn't so bad, he could admit that at least.)

"God, you're so small..." Sam murmured.

Dean meowed as loud as he could, annoyed that Sam didn't have something a little more substantial to say.

"Relax, man. I called up Rowena--"

Dean pushed Sam's hand off with his tiny paw and lifted his head to look Sam in the eyes. He didn't trust Rowena, not when he was this small and defenseless.

"I know you don't like her, but she's our best bet. She knows hexes better than either of us. I promise I won't let her hurt you." And Sam looked so sad and forlorn that Dean could almost forgive him for inviting over the witch. Almost. "I just want you back. I can't think of anything else."

Dean grumbled at that, but it sounded kind of adorable coming from his little kitty mouth.

To his surprise, Sam leaned down and kissed his furry forehead oh-so-gently. "We'll fix this, I promise."

I knew Dean was an ain'ter! I've seen people say they don't like it when fic authors have him using that word because it's not how Dean talks. WRONG. Wrongity wrong wrong.

in case this is interesting (?) to anyone else. while talking to @weaksspot​ we were like, does sam ever say “ain’t”? so i researched, because apparently i miss uni.

hypotheses and theories:

DISPROVEN: as sam distances himself more and more from his college life (where he may have tried to drop the dialect to fit in with his peers), he assimilates to dean’s speech patterns over time

DISPROVEN (kind of): the episodes where sam says “ain’t” were written by the same people - 3/14 episodes each were written by Ben Edlund and Andrew Dabb respectively; but at the end of the day it all comes down to jarpad, really. i can’t imagine that the scripts decide whether actors use “aren’t” or “ain’t” (?)

UNRESOLVED: why was dean (quote) “cowboying it up” so much in s7. you could argue that if this development had happened in s8 that it were related to purgatory and his proximity to benny (who obviously uses the contraction liberally). but what was going on here

Seeing these makes me realise how few watercolour artists there seem to be in this fandom. I wonder why that is? Or am I just missing them? Either way, this artist's work is extra striking to me because of it. And their silhouette stuff is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing, OP!

Good Lord. Even with so few lines, that face is unmistakable. The demon black eyes contrasting the sweetness of the freckles... Guh. This artist's work is all incredible.
