“Come on. You’re up, Hunter.”
Young Wolf: You wanna talk about your emotions, Zavala?
Zavala: No.
Crow: I do.
YW: I know, Crow
Crow: I'm sad.

hey guys, this is my design for the #BUNGIEDAYCONTEST.

Unspoken
nothing explicit, but kissing and (implied?) sex
It hadn't started out serious. Or, rather, she hadn't thought it had.
When they'd walk through a garden-anywhere, really, together, she'd quip at him, playfully, suggestively. Never anything too over the top, just enough for him to react.
And he always reacted in the funniest ways, going quiet or fumbling with his words, or completely serious, stern.
She didn't know that it'd lead to them laying together under the stars, her head lying idly on his armored chest. His silence saying the words she knew he couldn't.
"We aren't meant for that life," he'd said, his eyes searching hers, but for what, she didn't know. "No matter how much we might want it."
They'd had an unspoken agreement, almost. Never acknowledge...whatever this was.
Every chaste kiss, every moment where his rough, callused, gentle hands caressed her cheek, every stolen, rare night alone, spent by candlelight.
They'd continued the dance, the will-they, won't-they-until now.
The Last City's walls were being raised, and she'd decided to leave. Become a vagabond, a rogue, anything.
That's how they'd ended up here, Saladin catching her right before she'd left.
"You're leaving," he'd bit out, his posture stiff, stiffer than she'd ever seen it.
"Saladin..."
"You swore a vow," he continued," a vow to protect-"
"And I am," she interrupted. "Just...not here. There are enemies outside of the City, Saladin-"
"The Iron Lords are supposed to be protecting the City," Saladin interrupted, his posture only getting stiffer, "humanity. And you're leaving?"
"I will be protecting humanity," she'd responded, staring into his eyes, unflinchingly, "from outside of these walls. I've no doubt there will be others. We can't all be holed up here."
She smiled slightly. "And, you know, city life's never agreed with me."
Saladin's eyes softened, but his face remained stony, his posture hard as ever.
"I..."
His eyes searched hers, that same unfathomable expression, tender yet hard, almost vulnerable. He'd searched her eyes like this too many times, gazed at her with an intensity that was hard to describe.
Saladin swallowed.
Unspoken.
She stared back at him, trying to match him. It was almost as if they were stuck there, trying to will the other into...saying something, anything.
Anything that would let them stay together.
"Be careful."
The way he'd said those words, with such tender care, longing-
She wanted to stay. Light, how she wanted to stay here, with him. But they both knew she couldn't. To do so would be to admit whatever this was between them, and they were both far too stubborn, too duty oriented to do that.
So why hadn't she moved yet?
The most blunt, straightforward, stubborn Iron Lord she'd ever known almost looked...nervous.
He slowly opened his hand, revealing a wolf pendant. His wolf pendant.
"Here," he said, pressing it to her hands. She tried to ignore their familiar warmth, the warmth she'd grown so fond of.
She thought about refusing it-then saw the determined look on his face, and decided not to.
"Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "And," her breath almost hitched, "take care of yourself, Saladin."
They'd kissed then, their mouths colliding in an almost desperate kind of urgency, and the Iron Lady hoped she'd been able to convey what she couldn't through words.
When they finally separated, she clutched Saladin's pendant to her chest, tears in her eyes, the unspoken words stuck in her throat.
They'd meet again-someday. Maybe she'd work up the courage to finally say them.
