Mother’s day

Liam arose early in the morning and began making breakfast. His daughter Faith sat on the floor drawing. He smiles “How’s that Mother’s Day present going sweetie?”

“It’s going good daddy will mommy really love it?”

“I’m glad and yes she will”

Faith continued to draw then looked up “Daddy?”

“Yes my little princess”

“Why do we have Mother’s day?”

“Well it’s a nice story would you like to hear it?”

“Yay story yes daddy”

“Ok this lady her name was Anna Jarvis she had a wonderful mother that she loved”

“Just like I love mommy!”

Liam smiled “Yes like that sweetie after her mother went to heaven she wanted to honor her mother so she had a ceremony for her and for all the mothers out there”

“A ceremony for her mommy?” Faith jumps up and down “Are we doing that for mommy? I wanna do that”

Liam chuckles “We have ceremonies all the time for mommy daddy and you. Anna began to push for the day of the ceremony to be a day to celebrate mothers but there was a problem”

“What happened daddy?”

“Anna wanted the day to be about saying thank you to your mother but people decided that they can use the day to make money and she didn’t like that”

“How did they make money daddy?”

“Oh you know Mother’s day flowers, cards, teddy bears jewelry”

“But gifts make people happy daddy”

“Very true but a gift doesn’t have to come from the store you always make things for mommy and doesn’t she love it?”

“Yes she does daddy she hangs all my drawings in her room”

“See gifts is always from the heart not from the store”

“Did she stop it daddy?

Liam shakes his head “Unfortunately no she fought her hardest used all the money she had to stop it got put in jail and even tried to get Mother’s Day shut down”

“She can’t shut it down! That’s not nice”

Liam held her closer “I know but she didn’t like what the day have become her message was it to be a day to about loving your mom and people were making money off it”

“That’s sad daddy”

“It is she even said she should have never made the holiday after all that”

Faith looked at her picture “We’re still doing things to say I love you mommy right daddy?”

Liam smiled and kissed her forehead “Yes we are sweetie that’s what Mother’s Day is all about”

Faith grins “Yay are we gonna surprise mommy now?”

“Yes everything is all ready is your picture done?”

“Yup all done daddy where’s your gift daddy?”

Liam heads over to the table and pulls out a big bouquet of flowers and a box.

“Daddy did you buy those? If you did that Anna lady wouldn’t like it”

Liam smiles “No sweetie These flowers are from the garden and I’ll tell both you and mommy about the box”

“Ok daddy”

“Now let’s go surprise mommy”

They picked a tray and headed to the bedroom slowly opening the door where MC slept soundly in bed. Faith ran over and jumped on the bed “Wake up mommy!”

MC smiles as she opens her eyes “Good morning”

“Morning mommy”

Liam sets the tray on her lap “Good morning my love” He kisses her softly “Now what else do you say to mommy”

“Happy Mother’s day mommy!”

MC smiles as she sits up “Thank you this is really nice I love it”

“I got present for you mommy” She hands her the drawing

“Thank you sweetie I love it”

Liam smiles and hands her the bouquet “100 flowers for the most beautiful lady in the world”

MC giggles as she blushes “Oh thank you Liam”

Liam hands her the box and MC opens it her eyes go wide at the silver bracelet “Liam…”

“It was my mom’s she gave it to me and said “Give it to the girl you love”

MC smiles as she puts it on “Thank you it’s beautiful”

“So pretty mommy!”

MC hugs her “You’re prettier thank you both this is the best Mother’s day ever”

“No need to thank us this is what Mother’s day is about showing you how much we love you but we already show you that every day”

“Yes you do and I love you both too”
