Sid/Geno Recs - Hidden Gems

I’m glad I had time/motivation to get this second list finished by the end of July for @pensmonthly ‘s “Rec Lists” theme this month​.  I picked an arbitrary and sliding kudos cut-off and collected some of my favorite fics that won’t show up on the first 10 pages when you sort by kudos on ao3. I particularly tried to focus on older fic and ones not in recent exchanges because those are most likely to be missed! 

My categories (Very AU, Slightly AU, Get Together, Sex, Quiet/Domestic) have a decreasing level of priority - no matter the topic if one doesn’t play hockey it is under “very” au, if there are biology changes but its totally sex focused, it still qualifies as “slightly” au, etc etc.

Everything was different. The world he knew was gone. It’d been a long time since he’d started thinking he was probably one of the last humans on earth, that out there the only sentient beings were those that would devour him whole. He wasn’t sure why he continued with the radio broadcasts, continued to talk into nothingness. The only explanation was that there was a spark of hope in him yet that he wasn’t alone. The lonely safety Stiles has built around an old radio tower in the middle of nowhere is about to be broken. Stiles isn’t sure if Derek is a harbinger of chaos or hope at the end of the world.

They talk and talk, and when they depart, they leave with the heartfelt promise to stay in touch!

Deputy Derek Hale is sent to the preserve to shoo away some kids, but instead finds a seductive, crooked jawed boy, a white wolf, the remains of a burned out mansion, and more questions than he started the day with.

“Not you. Not you. I don’t want you.” came the pained whine.

“You’ve got it wrong! It’s me who doesn’t want you! So keep it quiet or else!” The alpha let go of the call button remote, wrinkling his nose. There was another flood of fear and anxiety like waves, wide eyes watched fearfully at the still raised arm, Stilinski tried to scoot farther away from the alpha teen. Did he think Derek was going to hit him?Derek almost phased tasting the flood of emotion saturating the air. The omega was hurt and the alpha wanted to protect, now that was damn confusing.

“Please don’t.” A hoarse plea, another whimper. “Just leave me alone.” Breathless now.

Derek felt his wolf whimper and snap as if gnawing at an invisible muzzle, his paws clawing to get out just below the surface. An eerie feeling of rejection pushed at Derek and both he and his wolf didn’t like it. The human part of Derek was surprised but the wolf was angry.

And oh, was he charming. Especially the way he leaned in, and cupped Stiles’ cheek, and kissed him.

It wasn’t so charming when he never called, and the next thing Stiles heard was Derek engaged, traipsing about the Mediterranean.

season 1, episode 3: steve meets grace for the first time and it’s adorable!

season 1, episode 6: “you know, when i say “book’em danno” it’s a term of endearment.” / “okay. do it everyday, i like it.”

season 1, episode 8: one of my favorite mcdanno moments!!

season 4, episode 19: steve and danny are trapped under a collapsed building, their moments are incredible, and we also have their first real “i love you”!!

season 4, episode 21: “i can’t believe you flew all this way.” / “i had to make sure you were okay.”

season 5, episode 7: mcdanno reunion that always makes me cry when the team finally saves steve, who also experiences some hallucinations with an incredible mcdanno story!!

season 5, episode 17: stakeout and domestic mcdanno!!

season 6, episode 11: our boys “accidentally” go on very cute vacation to work on their relationship, couples therapy!!

season 6, episode 13: just a very nice mcdanno episode, where “you’re an idiot” actually means i love you!

season 6, episode 25: bamf danny, who saves steve and gives him his liver!!

season 7, episode 8: i love this episode so much it hurts!! the “pick a base” line is there, and they really look like a family with grace!!!

season 7, episode 13: hearteyes!!!!

season 7, episode 16: valentine’s day!!

season 7, episode 23: steve driving through a fucking wall to save danny, and being absolutely adorable with charlie (ALSO mcdanno decorating charlie’s room together)!!

season 7, episode 25: the gift from steve, the worried danny, badass steve that does things that shouldn’t be possible?? all there, amazing episode and the ending just breaks my heart!

season 8, episode 1: “i believe in you, i believe in us, and that’s all that matters.”

season 8, episode 3: the incredible mcdanno t-shirt, the cooking, the bickering and all the love!!

season 8, episode 10: steve saves danny’s life, and danny experiences some hallucinations with an amazing future for everyone!!!
