Note: This is the second book of Arcane. The happenings in this story is a prequel to the first installment which you can check in my Masterlist. Since the lore is highly dependent on the first book, I highly suggest you check it out first—otherwise, new readers might have a hard time understanding what is happening here. [A year ago]

The crunch of the gravel and the soft mechanical hum of the engine pierced the warm summer air as a black sedan wove through the driveway. It was mid-afternoon so the sun was no longer at its highest point in the sky, but it was bright enough still to make the Victorian-style complex sparkle in its full glory under the clear blue skies. A pair of eyes hidden behind dark glasses observed it now from the comforts of her car, her gaze going through the most intricate of details in the manor’s architecture. From a normal bystander, the building would look nothing more than an average, quiet boarding school, but of course she knew better than be fooled by its innocent charm. After giving it one last run through, she finally unlocked her door and stepped out into the light outside.

extended summary  ▸ Kity Kim was probably the best, and the worst person existing on campus. With an eccentric, weird yet endearing personality, she was the warmth presence of the angel on your right shoulder, and the mischievous whispers of the demon on your left. She was know for looking like a earth fairy accompanied by the crooked smile of a pretty seductive witch ready to eat you alive. People know to be wary of her, and adore her in the same time. Big doll eyes and tongue sharp, loud enchanting laughter and fangs out, it was impossible to hate the social butterfly as much as it was impossible to fully trust her.

Well know for being the campus’s cupid, she was the one who knew everything in everyone’s hearts ; their dirty secrets to their most adorable crushes. And if she didn’t cared that much about the dirt they hides under their shoes, she was very curious about what ──or more like who── made students dreams at night.(After all, if people were more focused on hiding their secrets and their fears from her; they will never find her own, right?). It was a fun thing to do, playing with love and heart shaped arrows. That feeling, as deep and complicated it could be, always be so sure. 

Love was life, and people lived out and for love and the pain it caused. Watching people smile, saccharine sweet and disgustingly syrupy kisses to the hateful words and the diamonds tears on the cheeks always been something Kity found interest in. Play with it instead of being played by. Wasn’t it so fun?

But God’s not fool, neither is the goddess Aphrodite. And playing with something you can’t control always end up in tragedy ── ask Roméo, ask Achilles, ask Apollo, ask Jaemin and Jeno. 

Love make people go crazy, changes people, make them become the worst reflections in their mirror. Love control hearts and its carmin strings, and Love cannot be controlled ── too bad that Kity Kim neither can be.

And as much as Kity hated people she couldn’t perceive, if the Gods wanted to punish her into sending her way two more than complicated boys, she wasn’t gonna back off the challenge. (She was a coward. She screamed more than she could count on her fingers when something not even scary happened in the corner of her room, or running the other way around when problems a little big enough make appearance in her life. She was a coward, but not when it was about her games).

a/n : trying to describe the position these fuckers were is was the absolute bane of my existence. anyways , im a haechan sympathist until the end .

Free days with you were few and far in between. Almost always fleeting or cut short much too soon by surprise dance practices and pressing interviews. Donghyuck knew this wasn’t any fault of his own, his job kept his schedule booked and busy. But he still felt guilty and neglectful as a boyfriend at times.

You always assured him this wasn’t the case. Claiming the nightly phone calls and quick coffee dates were more than enough. Still, he missed you.

So when his phone lights up with a cancelation message from his manager, he nearly jumps from his seat at breakfast. Mark reads the text aloud from his phone, “… a severe storm is set to roll in within the hour. Road travel has been deemed unsafe, all schedules for the day are postponed.”

Donghyuck is smiling and typing away at his phone before Mark can get through the rescheduled dates. Texting you the news and urging you to get over as fast as possible ahead of the storm.

“Haechan, are you listening?”
