Sometimes I wish Pokémon wasn't a kid's series.

Don't get me wrong here, it's wonderful that so many people grew up with it, and I will acknowledge that the series has had its darker moments (Don't worry, I'm not taking about making Pokémon some sort of grimdark series), but I feel like the world of Pokémon would be interesting viewed through a more grown-up (or at least realistic) lense.

I want people who don't have a pokedex trying desperately to identify whatever the fuck they just ran into on their walk home on social media. I want a group of poke-vegans who say that 'mons are friends not food, and argue about the ethics of shit like combee honey. I want gym leaders getting into petty celebrity drama. I want cultural controversy like the shit we have going on with Sweden rn. I want political talk about how it seems that the world is always being saved by ten-year-olds and not the people supposed to handle these kinds of crises. I want Kalosians getting dunked on for no other reason than being Kalosian. I want meme-worthy movies that impacted a generation (some shit like ratatatouille). I want elaboration on however the fuck ghost Pokémon come to be, the ones that don't come from eggs that is- speaking of, I highly doubt that all 'mons come from eggs, I bet that's just a mechanic for convenience, but that's a post for another time. I want people to be allowed to say fuck. I want that "smash or pass" meme, and all the controversy that entails. I want stories of people actually being controlled or taken by a Pokémon like the dex implies in some cases. I want Dynamax horror stories like we almost had in the post-game of Sword and Sheild.

Sometimes I just wish this weren't a kid's series, because I would play the FUCK out of a T-rated or M-rated Pokémon game.
