The Magic In Our Hair Is Its Versatility.
πππ
I'm blackish (mixed) and I grew up in a place where there were almost ZERO people of color. Any color. So I didn't enjoy my childhood to say the least. And I grew up hating my hair so much because it was the one thing that made me stand out among my white classmates, and later on, when I moved away, it was the thing that made me stand out among all the black folks in my neighborhood. Suddenly, I had the "good hair," but it was just another way to make us all hate ourselves. If you want to know if representation matters, I can tell you that it does. I'm from the boonies and the first time I ever saw a commercial for black hair care products (I was 16), I burst into tears, because I didn't even know they existed. I didn't know anyone had made anything for me. It changed how I viewed myself. It took me so many years to learn to love myself and my hair. To stop trying to "tame" my frizz and "control" my curls. To stop smoothing myself over until I was more European and palatable for the world at large. Fuck all the noise. Fuck the good hair bullshit. Fuck the nonsense of people who play stupid about what appropriation is. My hair is a wayward, wild creature that doesn't look the same twice. It follows no rules and cannot be grounded. It must be free and loved just as it is and when it is loved, it thrives. Just like the rest of me.
There is NO. GOOD. HAIR. There is only hair (or lack there of) and it's ALL GOOD.
The Magic In Our Hair Is Its Versatility.

Black Hair Things:
Wigs were not invented by white people. Whenever a discussion about cultural appropriation arises the first thing said is that wigs on black women are also appropriation. Unlearn that. Wigs have long existed in Africa, and some have been found in tombs alongside our black queens in Ancient Egipt. Look it up.
Black hair grows at the same rate and speed as any other race. But our hair is sensitive and needs care, so you need to enforce a haircare routine so it won't break. If they tell you black hair does not grow, don't believe them.
"Good hair" is an invention. You decide what is good or bad simply by changing your mind on what good looks like. If it is hard to see the beauty in your hair simply change the content you consume. Follow black people on social media who wear their natural hair, see more black movies, and read about black hair history and hairstyle meanings.
Most self-hate issues can be helped (not fixed) by positive representation. You will first see, second love and third copy.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeee, ya'll ain't even ready. IT'S SO FREAKIN' GOOD!
Coming September 8, 2022β¦

Season 5 got you throwing your phone at the wall every week? Hopefully this will help! First chapter of an in-villa Bobcas fic drops tomorrow!
Thanks so much to @sparxaf for the poster π
Bless you. Bless you dammit.

At long last, it's here! I felt like we needed a chaptered fic for these two, and the few fics we have for them are usually AUs. Once the idea got in my head of how their villa journey could go, it was just begging to be written, so here we are!
Bobby, meet Lucas - Chapter 1
Summary:
She beckons him over to her, and he swallows as he takes a step forward, his feet feeling like lead. "Bobby, meet Lucas.β Lucas. Today is the day Bobby learns the name of his demise.
Rating: Mature (note: there will be smut... eventually)
Credit to @sparxaf who created this lovely header, and who was instrumental in the creative process for this fic!
Tag List: @mrsbsmooth (want to be tagged on updates for this fic and/or others? let me know! you can also subscribe on AO3 if you have an account!)
No, but seriously. I'm ready for Spooky season so I can wear my damned combat boots again.

It's too hot for goths
"she's a 10 but..." with love island S2 female characters (part 2)
Lottie: she's a 10, but she thinks girl code means hating men for no reason
Hope: she's a 10, but she lets herself be manipulated by a mid librarian
Hannah: she's a 10, but she thinks her life is a romance novel
Marisol: she's a 10, but she would hit on your partner and blame you
Priya: she's a 10, but she thinks toying with people's feelings is fun
Blake: she's a 10, but she's a cheap copy of you
Chelsea: she's a 10, but she thrives on mindless drama
Elisa: she's a 10, but her whole life is manufactured for her 'gram
Jo: she's a 10, but she's "not like other girls"
Shannon: she's a 10, but she has an unhealthy obsession with murder mysteries
special mention,
MC: she's a 10, but she's a doormat
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics (if you haven't written that many, fine ππ) that you've written, then pass on to your favorite writers. Letβs spread the self-love π
Thanks, @mrsbsmooth! This is fun, but I have exactly five fics, so it wouldn't be helpful π My favorite fic I think, is the one that gets the least lovin'. Sometimes, They Win. It's a Noah/Seb horror AU. I was so proud of it. Before I started writing love stories I used to dream of being the next Stephen King, so it was a lot of fun to delve back into that. Also writing Noah and Seb getting it on was a blast.
My other fav is probably the dirtbag con artist Lucas fic, The Bad Guy. Oddly enough, both of those are not straight up romances with guaranteed happy endings.
