i'll go first, the fungal steppe/shadow forest, the unfortunate nature of how i run my blog is that i don't really get to revisit areas and organisms, the fungal steppe and shadow forest is one of my favourite parts of ngiu◗, being like a land based deep sea environment and an entirely biotic ecosystem filled with small little creatures, maybe when i reach the final planet for all these descriptions i'll revisit all the environments i've done and just infodump about them as if they themselves are organisms

speculative biology tumblr, reblog with one part of your work/project/whatever you're really proud of but never get to talk about?

Pachyderes, More Commonly Called A Neckless Filterfeeder, Are Medium Sized Ichthyongiu, They Are The

pachyderes, more commonly called a neckless filterfeeder, are medium sized ichthyongiu, they are the only remaining genus of an entire family and one of only two remaining of an order, with flatheaded stalkers being the other remaining genus, the fossil record this order has once been widespread and diverse, its believed that similar to adactyls, the shadow forests isolation lets it act as a refugium for them, letting them be the last survivors, they have various traits not seen anymore in other extant ichthyongiu, like a stiffened rod of cartilage in their tail flukes, as well as a large fan like tail thats not very flexible, these traits are no longer seen in ngiu◗'s aquatic organisms, this has also given ◗ta scholars, with other fossil and genetic evidence a potential approximation for when the shadow forest grew enough to be classified as a forest and not an abnormal hill of moss ontop of mycoform haudarbor, instead being an isolated forest with waterways, which is around 400-120 million years ago, this organism is around 101cm and filterfeeds ostoexoapo larvae, ichthyongiu fry, eggs, spores, and other particulates out of the water column, if you have any questions regarding this seelenlos please dont be afraid to ask i am more than happy to answer

Cheirikopi, More Commonly Called A Claw Antennae, Are Large Apex Predatory Thalasentomo, They Use Their

cheirikopi, more commonly called a claw antennae, are large apex predatory thalasentomo, they use their antennae to echolocate, by clicking them together and feeling any returning sounds, they use their limbs which arent fins to cling to their prey and begin to feed on it, they have been known to hit each other with their foreforelimbs during mating selection, their eyes are large to sense any spore berries, which they lurk around just far enough away in order to attack their prey which approaches it, they lay their eggs buried just a small bit near fungal coral, they are then circled by the oviparent to guarantee that they arent killed, these eggs have a more waterproof shell which lets them survive the year long gestation, which lasts through the drought season, and once the drought ends the oviparent hunts down and kills an organism and sets it near the eggs, if you have any questions about this organism please dont be afraid to ask i am more than happy to answer

for [very far] future reference, which seems more likely for a beak like structure in an aquatic hypercarnivore, this v^v, or this ^v^
