FLASHBACK:90'S MANNEQUIN

BEFORE I BEGIN TO POST MY NEW SET OF SPRING 2011 ILLUSTRATIONS I WANTED TO FIRST POST ONE LAST FLASHBACK TO THE VERY BEGINNING. BACK WHEN I STARTED MY ILLUSTRATION CAREER I WAS WORKING WITH A MUCH LONGER FIGURE AND DOING MORE ERTE-INFLUENCED ILLUSTRATION.
THIS PIECE WAS A SORT OF TRANSITION IN THAT I FOUND THAT WHEN THE GIRLS WERE SUPER TALL THEY LOOK GLAMOUROUS BUT WERE LIMITING. WITH THOSE PROPORTIONS THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING! ANY OTHER POSE WAS SO AWKWARD SO THIS PICTURE WAS AN EXPERIMENT WITH NEW BODY TYPES. ITS AN ILLUSTRATION OF STORE EMPLOYEES WORKING ON DRESSING A MANNEQUIN IN A WINDOW. ENJOY
BIG APPLE EDGE FOR H&M

H&M'S YOUR ART HERE CONTEST had a NYC theme. So for my entry I wanted to re-conceptualize the "Big Apple". In my mind NYC is a glamourous, tough resilient city able to handle whatever may come. That thought led me to create this apple protected by a hard chic armor. I wanted to also incorporate a few symbolic elements: the texture of the streets, a leaf for humanity and fragility, architecture of the buildings as a framework that holds it all together. Check out the other entries at www.yourarthere.com
I love your Illustrations, how do you find the inspiration for each piece?xx
basically i work backwards..when i see the collection I get an initial idea..but often i then do a sort of a concept-association exercise to get to the least expected concept that reflects the collection perfectly
FLASHBACK:SPRING 2002 VERSACE VIXEN

ANOTHER THROWBACK FROM THE SPRING 2002 SEASON. I WANTED TO ILLUSTRATE DONATELLAS REALLY STRONG COLLECTION THAT SEASON. I CANT SEEM TO RECALL WHY I CHOSE THIS PARTICULAR SETTING BUT I THINK IT WAS SOMETHING ABOUT WANTING TO PLACE A SPRING LOOK IN A FALL SETTING AND THEN FOR THE COLOR CHOICES I THOUGHT MAKING IT TECHNICOLOR WOULD MAKE IT MORE VERSACE.

can i just say how much i love your work? i have no question. i saw your work on sea of shoes :) made christmas a little merrier.
thanks so much i really appreciate the compliment...stay tuned for more!
