I haven't reached this point in my rewatch so forgive me if I leave out salient points, but:

Hug. Yes.

Arthur throws down his sword to hug Merlin. (See this lovely post to see that and more of the scene in general)

Arthur hugs Merlin without an ounce of care that Merlin is covered in mud.

Arthur is so enthusiastic that he aggressively pulls Merlin to him (look at poor Merlin's head snap back).

Arthur not only turns his face toward Merlin (again, despite the mud), but he basically just shoves his face into Merlin's neck/face and holds himself there.

Fortunately, I actually like myself and I can be alone.

Has anyone else ever thought about Arthur giving merlin a purple shirt and not telling merlin that it's a sign of the kings favor? Then just letting him walk around and the murmured rumors start. Until finally someone, probably Gwen tells him what the color means...... I think about this all the time.
