I’m gonna be pedantic and say that classic danish children’s book “Palle alene i verden” (Palle alone in the world), published 1942, did the “The entire world except one character disappears” before I Am Legend did.

Maybe the trope is even older than both?

The book has wonderful illustrations by danish artist Arne Ungermann btw, which is one of the reasons I wanted to draw attention to it:

The movie in question is Fantastic Voyage (1966).
