funniest thing about the “reddit migration” is that I haven’t seen a single post shitting on anyone coming from Reddit. when twitter started bleeding users everyone was firing rent-lowering posts but with redditors skittering about we’ve left the doors open and put out food bowls

Now I don't think that I'm the one to write about this, but all the fics I've seen of Hobie meeting Miles' parents always feel so... light. It's either "Hobie calls Jefferson a pig to his face and Miles gets grounded" or "Hobie is surprisingly respectful and polite and Miles' parents love him"

Even when the former is done, none of the underlying issue is really addressed. It feels just like silly banter and classic "oooh, the parents don't like the new boyfriend" stuff. Guess what? There are reasons people don't like cops.

I can't stop thinking about Hobie who is polite to Miles' parents, but in an obviously stilted and forced way. Hobie who usually slinks all around a room, but lingers extra close to Miles when his dad is around. Who keeps an arm around him in a way that usually reads as affectionate, but between all the side glances he tosses Jeff it's hard not to see as protective. Who makes a point for Miles to know he's always welcome back in Hobie's dimension. Who doesn't say anything too confrontational, not while the cop in question is in a direct position of authority over someone he loves, but has one hand tensed and ready to shoot webs at a moments notice. Because Hobie is unapologetically loud about his beliefs, but knows how to stand back and be more subtle support when the consequences would spread to others (like when he was prodding Miles about the spider society)

And Jefferson wants to be pissed, he does, but more than that he wishes he didn't look at this young man and get it. That he doesn't look at the anger and protectiveness and see the fear underneath. But they'll never actually get along, because Jeff wants to help things from the inside and Hobie believes there are no good cogs in a broken system.

I've just been feeling a kind of way, seeing some cop shit happening at pride. This situation is too racially charged for me to properly in depth explore it myself, but it's something on my mind each time I read Hobie meeting the parents.

Something something, Punkflower Antis who take a quote about Hobie's age out of context and accuse Punkflower shippers of being pro shippers comes from a root of anti blackness and the adultification of black male teens who are considered adults as soon as the hit a growth spurt and happen to be tall and the fact that this shit only happens when the ship contains two black male characters.

Like hes probably 17 at the most and y'all are over here claiming he's like 25-26, y'all are sick.

And the fact that no one batted an eye when it was implied that he and gwen might have had a thing or Miles' mom being suspicious of Gwen's age because of the "she looks old enough to vote" comment proving my point that if Hobie was white and voiced by idk Benedict Cumberbatch y'all would not give a fuck

Streets saying that they were talking about Prowler Hobie in the interview and was taken out of context by Punkflower haters, I fucking win.

ok so i've been debating making this post but the new spiderverse fandom needs to relax about shipping.

it's ok to ship characters that are already married or in relationships. it's ok to ship characters with unconfirmed ages. it's ok to ship characters together that have never interacted. your headcanons don't have to be accurate or plausible in canon.

What I find extremely hilarious right now is how Sweden can’t accept that people aren’t focusing on them. How Finland isn’t just crying in the shadow of Sweden. How Finland is celebrating Käärijä even if he didn’t bring the trophy home. They don’t want to accept why we are celebrating. Swedish media is trashing Finland right now harshly and so does Swedes in media. Hell, even Swedish ice hockey coach made some stupid comments to Finnish ice hockey team. 

But why are Finns celebrating like we won?

We are celebrating because for the first time in ages THE WHOLE WORLD sees us as our own and not the shadow of Sweden. Käärijä made the world acknowledge us! Point us on the map! And that’s something that rarely happens. 

Sweden is acting like the bitter big brother who doesn’t accept that someone is paying attention to little brother Finland instead of them.

And that’s beautiful.
