So: Grimm first adopts Ghost, then he adopts the Hollow Knight (It just went like- You are my child now, come with me and your Sibling *takes Hollow Knight by the hand and takes him away to the tents in Dirtmouth*) And then Hornet tries to get the Hollow Knight out of there and just ends up also being adopted and finds herself at Tea time with the Grimm Child, Ghost and the Hollow Knight
