- baby chinchillas are called kits
- they like dust baths
- their life span is longer than most small pets (10 years - 20 years)
- their fur cant get wet because it takes them too long to dry out because of the density of their fur
- they are related to guinea pigs and porcupines
- they have long muscular back legs for jumping
- their original habitat is the mountains
- over 100 chinchillas can live in one herd
- their fur is one od the softest in the world
- white teeth are healthy for them
- there litter size is usually 2 but some have been known to have 6
- they need a resting board to prevent foot problems
- they need to have high fibre diets
- they are endangered because of chinchilla coats
- they have 20000 hairs per square centimetre with 50 hairs growing from each follicle
- they can shed their fur on demand
- they are nocturnal

i think if alterbeings were more normalized there would be a lottttt more in the world
i am not saying in a trendy way but moreso like, people would be able to actually research it and discover their identity as an alterhuman/nonhuman/etc without feeling cringe or weird about it. and some may feel not fully human but never know there's actually a term and whole community for that because it's so abnormal to outsiders and therefore rarely discussed in daily life
