I Love The Discworld Books For A Lot Of Reasons: The Characters, The Humour, And Most Of All The Words.

I love the Discworld books for a lot of reasons: the characters, the humour, and most of all the words. I’m keeping it simple on this glorious 25th of May and designing a scarf that is almost entirely Pterry’s words, with just a little bit of pattern thrown in.
If/when I knit it, I’ll use the double knitting technique with 3.25mm needles and dk weight yarn. However, I have other favourite words to design layouts for first, so I can pick my favourite!

It is the right and privilege of every mother to embarrass the fuck out of their kid every so often, so I'm going to tell you my favorite story about @mistresskabooms.
Well, one of them. I have a lot of favorite stories.
When MK was 7, she had the flu pretty badly. She got so sick that we ended up taking her to the ER because she couldn't keep water down for over 12h. (I promise, it's a cute story by the end.)
I was home with her and @dadhoc had gone into work, so I called them to tell them we were at the ER. They asked to talk to MK and said, "listen, buddy, I need you to do me a big favor. The nurses will be coming in soon, and they're going to need to put a needle in your arm. That will help you feel better, so they need to do that. Can you please not fight the nurses so they can help you feel better? If you can promise me that, I'll bring you home some surprises, okay? Thanks, little buddy. Now I won't worry about you."
MK promised not to fight the nurses, and she kept to that promise, even when it took multiple tries to get her IV started. She cried, but she was super brave and held still.
Like most kids in that situation, she perked right up once they got some fluids in her and we sat in the ER cubicle, watching cartoons. At one point about an hour after they started MK's IV, we heard a toddler a cubicle or two away, wailing their lungs out. Just... having a terrible day.
MK sat up on the gurney, leaned forward, and yelled towards the hall, loud and clear:
"It's okay, little buddy! The nurses are your friends! Don't fight the nurses, buddy! They'll make you feel better! It'll be okay, little buddy!"
(The surprises were a bunch of Sleeping Beauty toys from the Disney Store clearance section, including two Swords of Truth and Shields of Virtue, which the two of them used for sword fights for years.)
Recorded myself singing part of the extremely catchy theme from High Noon to experiment with the bottom of my range. No matter how deep my voice gets I wish I could make it deeper lmao.
"There seems to have been a murder."
