Getaway was notoriously hard to read. Sure, you were his conjunx and, yes, you did trust him almost completely. But the almost was what scared you. He knew your past fuck ups and how you had a not-so-great reputation with relationships. You jumped into things full-force and didn’t think them through entirely, completely driven by furry emotion that would leave you exhausted and burned in the end.

It was easy to trick you.

You wanted to believe him, though.

When Getaway was holding you, stroking your helm and cooing to you, it really felt like he loved you. The soft pulsing of his spark through his spark chamber against your audial lulled you into a false sense of comfort. Getaway told you he loved you: your character, your honesty, how uninhibited you were with him. Weaved in-between his words you tried to find the reassurance you needed that he wouldn’t hurt you, leave you, or use you up. You were never good at judging character, though.

He may betray you. He may make choices he would grow to regret. But with Getaway, in the quiet, idling rumble of the Lost Light, there were no lives to save and no decisions more important than being loved by him.

You loved him, but he was always a selfish bot.
