The way I view my childhood is weird because on the one hand, I strongly disagree with how I was raised. But on the other hand, everything was so much simpler before I started questioning. Ignorance really is bliss.
Its very interesting to me that archaeologists are finding tons of evidence that in prehistoric times disabled people were accomodated and cared for because when I was a child my dad told me the opposite.
The example he used, as I remember it, was this: "Imagine we lived in prehistoric times as hunter gatherers. Let's say you broke your leg. Taking care of you would be a liability for all of us, so we'd have to leave you behind to die :)"
At the time I was bewildered and hurt, but I accepted his answer. Now I just think my dad is a terrible person.

Only they are allowed to parent me
For real! I wanna see self harm stims in media! I wanna see autistic having meltdowns on days that are supposed to be happy, like holidays and birthdays!
I wish there was more representation of autistics who struggle to regulate their emotions. I don't see this alot. Personally, I have alot of struggle with regulating my own emotions as an autistic person. It feels like I'm feeling all my emotions ten times stringer than they are meant to be, and it's so difficult to process that. I want to see the ugly side of autism more in pieces of media that show representations of autistic people. I don't care if the way it's shown makes the character seem like "bad people."" Autism isn't all cute/quirky stimming and special interests. Show me an autistic character having a meltdown because they got a question or two wrong on the test because of a silly mistake, beating themselves up over it, then crumbling it up and throwing the test away (true story). Show me autistic characters having an identity crisis because they subconsciously mask so much that they don't know what parts of them are real and what's just them masking.
I want to see complex autistic characters!
