Destiel Meta - an outsider’s perspective

I’ve been reading meta for about a year, but now I wanted to add my own post regarding it.

I don’t really see things when I first watch episodes, I don’t get mirrors or parallels or pay attention to background details like wallpaper or neon signs or anything like that. I’m not good at analyzing things or interpreting it, not in literature nor film, I don’t do something in this area professionally or studied it. 

However, there are some things that jumped out so much that even I thought “Hey, that’s something!”.

How many times do we have to say it.

Dean was TEXTUALLY NOT PINING FOR AMARA.

He literally said so in 11x13.

“Standing here right now? Every bone in my body wants to run her through. Send her back to that hole she crawled out of. But when I’m near her… I don’t know – something happens. I can’t explain it. But to call it desire or love – it’s not that”.

He wasn’t pining for her when he was away from her.

He explicitly says so. With words. And then later proves it with actions in 11x18 onwards. He wanted her DEAD. He just couldn’t say no or focus on other things when he was near her.

Oh wait. Except when he could.

Because by that point he was more worried about Cas.

Which she noticed. So she then used Cas to get through to him for the rest of the season. Through Castiel’s heart x

Weirdly, even though her bond was apparently oh so strong she actually had to go through Cas’ heart to get to Dean. Hm.

She then after her little speech made the point to Dean that Cas, Lucifer’s vessel, wasn’t doing so well, but I’m sure that was for no reason and just filling an empty few seconds of screen time for nothing.

She also happened to get through to him only when he heard the trigger word “Angel”, as an aside, though I’m sure that was totally accidental too.

She then told Dean flat out what the deal was that she’d been exposing all season x

Amara wasn’t who Dean was pining for.

Amara couldn’t surpass Dean’s bond with Castiel and had to use him as a link and as bait to get to him, despite being God’s sister.

Fuck this ain’t rocket science and this ain’t meta writers queerbaiting themselves it’s fucking canon.

the phrase “curiosity killed the cat” is actually not the full phrase it actually is “curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back” so don’t let anyone tell you not to be a curious little baby okay go and be interested in the world uwu
