Drawlloween 3 - Goblin

Drawlloween 3 - Goblin
This is an even messier sketch than the first day’s because I got carried away with the design instead of the drawing itself.
These are the notes i made on the creature:
(ignore the elongated forearm; it’s not nearly so exaggerated)
the idea is that they’re scavangers that live in magic-infested areas (like, magical lakes, sentient trees, swords in stones, etc) and they feed on the bodies of those drawn to the magic or (in the case of humans) deliberately trying to come in contact with it, and get killed along the way
the lioncloth may be partially made out of people skin (they’re resourceful like that)
their feet are a bit more ape-like than ours and their hands are sorta racoony
and they’re marsupials. because.
they’re not ~evil~ (i have trouble with inherently evil species) just sorta gross and repulsive to humans
they eat carrion and generally don’t kill
they don’t get along with people because either a) people see them eating other humans and assumed they killed them or b) are mad at them for desecrating bodies
and though they do use tools, when they eat they just sorta dig in with their hands (unless they’re collecting large chunks in order to store it) which freaks people out as well
they exist all over the world, but in non-overlapping areas which leads to different subspecies in different environments
they play an important in maintaining any magical ecosystem - yay!

Drawlloween 5 - Were Wherewolf
I wanted to do this gory, creepy one, but I was tired, so you all got a bad pun instead. I’m sorry. (Only kinda.)
gosh but like we spent hundreds of years looking up at the stars and wondering “is there anybody out there” and hoping and guessing and imagining
because we as a species were so lonely and we wanted friends so bad, we wanted to meet other species and we wanted to talk to them and we wanted to learn from them and to stop being the only people in the universe
and we started realizing that things were maybe not going so good for us— we got scared that we were going to blow each other up, we got scared that we were going to break our planet permanently, we got scared that in a hundred years we were all going to be dead and gone and even if there were other people out there, we’d never get to meet them
and then
we built robots?
and we gave them names and we gave them brains made out of silicon and we pretended they were people and we told them hey you wanna go exploring, and of course they did, because we had made them in our own image
and maybe in a hundred years we won’t be around any more, maybe yeah the planet will be a mess and we’ll all be dead, and if other people come from the stars we won’t be around to meet them and say hi! how are you! we’re people, too! you’re not alone any more!, maybe we’ll be gone
but we built robots, who have beat-up hulls and metal brains, and who have names; and if the other people come and say, who were these people? what were they like?
the robots can say, when they made us, they called us discovery; they called us curiosity; they called us explorer; they called us spirit. they must have thought that was important.
and they told us to tell you hello.

Got tagged by pretentiouslimericks to do an ~aesthetic~ post (i.e. “Post 10 pictures from your phone that match your aesthetic.”).
I tag whoever wants to do it (and “@” or tag me so I can see your post, if you want)!
Heads up - I’m no insect expert, and I think I id’d those correctly, but if I’m wrong, let me know!
If you just so happen to be looking for excessive lizard-blogging today, check out my side blog unconventionally-adorable, for pictures from the NY Metro Reptile Expo. (Unless there's bad internet or I can't take decent photos.)
