I think there is a MAAAJOR difference between holding your favs accountable in light of something that has happened and completely condemning someone based off of information given from heresay.

What is being said and labeling them as is so incredibly serious. That is not a label that should be given lightly and not one that goes away either when proven innocent.

We need to continue to get whatever facts are available and decide. It is ok to distance yourself. For a lot of people I would recommend it. However do not throw around information and labels without fully knowing what you’re doing.

I don’t even say this as a kpop fan, fuck that, I say this as a human being. I know how you’re feeling, I promise I do but atleast take my words into consideration. You don’t have to lean so far to one side with out knowing everything.

I really really need y‘all to use some critical thinking right now.

Like it or not, but „Made in Abyss“ is extremely successful and critically acclaimed. It’s not some Dark Web niche child torture porn. Most anime fans have checked it out at some point or another.

The story isn’t centered around child molestation. Children are the main characters and it’s a dark twisted story so dark twisted things are happening to them. Is it my cup of tea? No. I dropped it after a few episodes, though I can’t remember why.

However, a plot like this isn’t unique to this story either. Though dark in a different way, „Promised Neverland“ also had child orphans as lead characters and terrible shit was happening to them as well. I really loved that one. Does that mean I enjoy watching children suffer? Fuck no. I enjoy the plot and watching these kids overcome the darkness and the same seems to be true for most MiA fans. Now let me make it clear: I’m in no way saying PN is as problematic (it seems like the MiA author actually caters to the messed up subsection of the fanbase on bonus pages that don’t get published and translated), but simply pointing out that there’s been other popular horror series with child protagonists.

Is the author of „Made in Abyss“ problematic as fuck? It sure seems like it, but that shouldn’t reflect on his readers. I sure as hell don’t research the authors of every piece of media I consume and I’m pretty sure that goes for most people.

I‘m also not defending the p*dos in the fandom, but y’all, even My Little Pony has a huge chunk of those in the fandom but they’re clearly not a reflection of the entire fanbase.

TLDR: Don’t base your entire opinion on Twitter threads. Research the content you’re criticizing. Use critical thinking. Someone using big words doesn’t mean they’re right.

so what ive gotten from this soobin situation is that people are overreacting. sakura from lsfm also mentioned that she watched it although she didnt enjoy it. the fancall where mingi said it was false translation and it was caused by a saesang. we literally dont know if taeyong has all the other volumes, let alone if that 11th volume is even his. woozi claimed that he literally didnt even finish MIA so theres not much to that.

but all i see on twt is that people are still mad about this situation, and some are actually using critical thinking to know what people watch ≠ what people do in their freetime. here are some twt links that speak about the situation, and looking through the replies can really help you understand it more.

the replies under this tweet are literally just talkinh about how everyone who watches it is a pedophile, this n that, blah blah blah, which literally is not true.

most people have watched this anime for the plot and the plot alone. yall have got to realize that just because people watch something dark like this in their free time does not mean they're gonna go out and repeat these same actions. theres literally no reason for any of yall to accuse these idols of being pedophiles when NONE of us know them personally.
