i have this idea that nolan, in his typically quiet ways, would show his affection physically but in subtle ways. more importantly, he always keeps you close to his chest. he’s a tall guy and pretty thick so he towers over you. he’ll pull you against his chest at parties or in public spaces with crowds. if he can tell your uncomfortable or tired or nervous about anything, he’ll stand behind you and pull you back into his chest as a way of protecting you and letting you know he’s there to keep you safe and calm. and at home it’s no different, you’ll be cooking dinner when he comes home and he’ll hold your hips and stand flush against you. or you guys will be cuddled on the couch and he’ll notice you nodding off so he’ll instantly switch so that your resting against his chest. and we all know that this doesn’t just benefit you, nolan loves when you touch his chest. he loves when you walk up to him and place your hands on his chest before sliding them up around his necks or down to wrap around his middle. he knows you find him attractive and having you touch his chest makes me feel 10x more confident than he normally does. he may not be a man of many words, but he finds a way to make sure his girl knows she’s cared for

I don’t really know where this came from, only that it came into my head and I couldn’t get it out for days. I don’t love it, I’m not gonna lie; it might get deleted later. Also, by the time I finished this I had a migraine so bad I was nauseous, and I would’ve done anything for someone to play with my hair. 

You watched as Nolan jammed a Flyers hat over his hair before he left for practice. You knew it was dirty, and you didn’t know the last time he had washed it. Really, you could never understand what he had against washing his hair.

You were fussing around in the kitchen making lunch when Nolan got home a couple hours later. He came up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and shoving his face against your neck. You leaned back into the hug; Nolan smelled clean and like the shitty soap he tended to use after practices. He lingered in silence for a moment before he mumbled something into your skin. 

“Speak up, Pat,” you laughed.

“Hair smells good,” he said, pulling away just enough to talk before burying his face again.
