thinking about Luffy from the perspective of an everyday schmo in his world is hilarious. And I don’t mean “I heard he was 20 feet tall” etc., though that is still really funny. I mean think about what’s public knowledge on him.

this guy comes out of nowhere, declares war on the fucking government, blows up the centre of their justice system, breaks into the most secure prison in the world, and breaks right back out again so he can jump feet-first into the biggest war in recent memory, during which you find out oh hey he’s brothers with the pirate king’s kid, his dad’s also trying to overthrow the government, his grandpa’s a war hero who works for said government, and he has some kind of connection to one of the Four Emperors. He runs with a guy who used to hunt pirates for a living and a woman who researches ancient weapons of mass destruction, and also has a pet raccoon or something. A few weeks later he breaks into the headquarters of the world’s biggest military (which is actively hunting him btw) just so he can ring a bell. Oh, and Roger’s right hand man is there, helping him.

And then he fucking disappears for two years.

Suddenly he comes back, teams up with a Warlord of the Sea to save some country you’ve never heard of by dethroning its king, tries to assassinate one of the Emperors at her own tea party, and then runs off and takes down a completely different Emperor while his friends take out the first one. He’s got one of the villains from your comic books, a world-famous rock musician, and another Warlord (who’s also some kind of fish monster) all working for him and his other brother is the second in command of the revolutionaries. absolutely buckwild. how do you cope

The mental gymnastics involved with Harrow killing multitudes of people who will supposedly do bad things in the future, not giving them a chance to change or grow, while himself knowing his scales aren’t balanced but hoping his cult work will balance them are Olympic level. 10s across the board.

idea: batman and the robins never acknowledge that there have been different robins. like they all act that there's only been one and that they're the same person basically.
