Lady Sekhmet, Lord Maahes, I Pray To You To End This Slaughter Of Palestine's Children, To Let Them Safely

Lady Sekhmet, Lord Maahes, I pray to you to end this slaughter of Palestine's children, to let them safely pass into Egypt

Lord Zeus, Lord Tyr, I pray to you to bring justice to those killed and who's homes were stripped from them

Lord Ares, Lord Thor, I pray to you to give strength to those protesting bravely against this corrupt government funding this genocide

Lord Njordr, Lady Hathor, Lady Aphrodite, Lady Demeter, I pray to you to bring abundance and love and comfort to Palestine's children, for mercy upon the land that has been destroyed, for life to be salvaged and to flourish

I pray to all the gods for this genocide to end and for the corrupt system that feeds this genocide gets the justice they deserve.

hi! i'm not that familiar with norse mythology deeply, but is there any mention of sigyn's actual parents(even if its just descriptions) based on the mythology? i did some digging on the internet before, and some considered that she is odin's daughter.

So, there is no official source giving us the names of Sigyn's parents. We only have theories.

In all the research I've done those past few years, I've only seen 3 theories about her parents.

The first one is the Odin one, as one of his kennings is "Father of Victory", and as Sigyn's name meaning "Friend of Victory" (plus she has a warrior's hairdo on the only Viking depiction we have of her on the Gosforth cross), many believe she's the Goddess of Victory.

(That would also mean Odin KILLED HIS OWN GRANDSONS ^^')

The two other theories are quite interesting, because they have the same structure: a beautiful, radiant goddess and a deity of the forge.

The first one has Freya and Iwaldi as her parents. The second has Sol and Volundr. It's interesting to note that if Iwaldi is a Dwarf, I have found sources listing Volundr as a Prince of the Dark Elves (which are often associated/merged with the Dwarves in Norse mythology).

I tend to agree with the Freya/Iwaldi more, as it seems to work very well with the other stories and characters we know. It also fits with the Odin as "Father of Victory", because even if he's not her birthfather, he still married her mother, Freya... which would make him her stepfather ^^'

The Freya as Sigyn's mother is one of my favourite theories, I admit XD It's based on an article I read on Academia a year or two ago, in which the scholar was stating that we were not sure Gersemi and Hnoss truly existed, as they were only named once, in kennings, as their names mean "jewel" and "treasure", and Freya, their mother, being the "Mother of treasures". The scholar was also saying that maybe there was only one girl, or maybe none, and that it was probably a translation mistake. They gave the example of another occurance of the "Freya as mother of treasures" kenning, where the treasure in question was a sword, not a daughter.

What has Sigyn to do with that, are you going to ask me? Well, Freya, through her kenning, is known as the Mother of Treasures. What is one of Sigyn's kennings? Loki's Treasure.

We've got also the story of Loki stealing a JEWEL/treasure from Freya. Yes, it's about her necklace... But we know Loki well enough to know that he can very well steal TWO jewels/treasures XD That won't stop him XDXD

About Iwaldi, the story where Loki goes to his sons to commission new treasures for the gods always made me wonder, because if Loki is pretty terrible to Brokk and Eitri (and pays the price later), but he does nothing to Iwaldi's sons... ^^'

There is also the fact that during the Lokasenna, while Loki accuses Idunn (who is Iwaldi's daughter ^^') of flirting with everyone, he does not seem to include himself in the lot, and sounds rather angry at her for having a fling with her brother's murderer... Why would you be so concerned about that? Well, if this is your in-laws, of course, and your beloved wife was close to her (half?-)brothers, it all becomes much more complicated and personal ^^'

Anyway, those are only theories, as Sigyn's true origins have been lost to time (and those damn monks), but it's always fun to play around and try guessing :p
