post MAG 200 thought- Anyone that was in a hellscape has no recollection of anything after the world changes back. Jon and Martin *didn't* die but they were so terribly traumatized by it that they couldn't stand being together. Everytime they looked at eachother all they saw was "The Archivist" and "The man that killed The Archivist" (Archivist being treated like a separate being from Jon here). So they just like. drift apart. because they're living breathing reminders to one another of a time so horrific everyone else forgot.
