Fuck Me Goodnight - Adam Stanheight / Reader

Fuck Me Goodnight - Adam Stanheight / Reader

18+ This one’s definitely an 18+... A/N Idk what this is. It was something my mind came up with like right now on the spot in a couple of words. I don’t usually write about this subject so… I’m sorry it’s short, I couldn’t think, really… just lmk ig, i'm def nervous...

18+

“I love you,” you mumbled, scared of the outcome.

“Now that was evident.” A chuckle.

“You don’t understand,” you tried to further explain.

“Sure I do. You’d give up everything for me. That’s sweet, because I’ve done nothing to deserve it. Now lay down on the bed. Let me show you what you mean to me. More than ‘I love you’.”

Your body stretched out over the bed vulnerably. “I don’t know what you’re gonna do to me.” Your voice broke anxiously, expressing your feelings.

“Perfect…” whispered like the soft crackling of the fire. “It’s better if I have the element of surprise. Now close your eyes, dearest, don’t let me frighten you.”

Cool chills going up soft skin, almost like bones clattering to the floor of the abandoned temple; so lonely and secretive. “I’m sorry…”

Brown eyes slid up the body in front of him. “For what?” Voice was low, almost threatening, making the other being shiver. “For having a life?”

“I didn’t want to leave you alone on the anniversary of… Never mind…But I got caught up with taking my cat/dog to the vet. It was a long day for both of us.”

Shoulders were pushed straight back into the mattress. It felt squishy and rough. Closer, you wanted closer. “I don’t…” Silence.

“Adam?”

“It’s okay. I understand your reasons. I do wish you had been there though.”

“That’s why I’m sorry.”

“Why? Your pet didn’t realize yesterday was important.”

Adam leaned way over you in the darkness. The only things that told you he was there was his body heat and the pressure of his body on yours. You gave way under him, rolling your head back into the pillows and relaxing entirely. You grunted desperately.

Adam’s hands traveled your entire body, making sure not to leave any place untouched. His lips were practically like a soothing message for your mouth. You closed your eyes, and enjoyed it.

Adam straddled you promptly, gazing down at you through the darkness. “Besides, I could have come to your place, but I didn’t… So… stupid on my part. I thought I told you to relax?”

There was a fight of relaxation and stiffness that occurred between the muscles and the brain. “I just want you to fuck me… That’s all I want right now…”

An amused laugh echoed around the pitch black room. “I wondered…” sarcasm. “You want me, definitely. That much was obvious. But I don’t think I want to give you that just yet. You could use some ripening up.”

“Sure… You’re the boss.”

“Good. I’m glad we’re in agreement.”

More messaging of the lips.

More hand-exploration of the body.

More tingles and good feelings.

“Shit, Adam…”

“Did I say you could speak?”

Alarmed, but still aware you choked out, “W-Well no but…” Hesitance. “But I love you…”

Adam caressed your cheeks, and fingered your bottom lip. “Say it louder.” He lifted your chin up.

“I love you…” You whimpered slightly louder than that of the first time.

“Pathetic, really.”

You thrashed under him. “I said I love you!”

“Better. But next time let it be the first time.”

“Right.”

Adam started to pound you into the mattress. “Let’s just make this quick, huh? It’s late and you have things to do tomorrow, yeah?”

“I can cancel them…”

Adam scoffed. “I thought the whole point was that you weren’t supposed to do that.”

“I’m not…”

A whole bunch of feelings mixed together, making it hard to breathe. All you could do was lay there and let Adam have his way with you. But his teasing had been a hellofa ride, and now you didn’t have a chance at lasting very long, and unfortunately the ‘rising action’ was over, now it was time for the ‘climax’. You screamed.

“Oh what’s the matter?” Adam pretended not to understand. You loved that. He laughed. “Too much?”

There was only silence in response. Gasping and heaving were mixed in with Adam’s quiet moans. An effort was put into staying awake, which was all for naught. Sleep won the battle anyway, and Adam was left to finish himself. You would be paying for THAT in the morning. You knew that well enough, or at least you WOULD have known, if you were still awake.

Take My Breath Away - Adam Stanheight / Reader

Magic, it was like magic. Like water rolling down the fall, splashing elegantly into the pond. Like stars spinning round and round the solar system. It was crazy, so crazy; super duper awe-inspiring, eye opening, enchanting. You crept up the stairs at twelve AM. You’d gotten inside with the spare key. You maneuvered around some creaky floorboards. Adrenaline spikes were a common occurrence for this endeavor, but the end result was always worth it. You gripped the stair railing tightly, trying not to reveal yourself. You’d be dead, if your friends found you’d been going back. But as previously stated, it was worth it.

You climbed the stairs carefully, not making a peep. One year of doing this had gotten you good at knowing where all the broken floorboards were, and where to put your feet. It was easy at this point!

Moonlight fell onto the floor above the stairs, keeping you motivated to continue. You loved the white moon. It was like a bright, circle light against the dark, night sky. It was beautiful, so beautiful; light through a diamond, or petals from a rose. Magnificent.

Gracefully, smoothly, feet ascended onto the patch of moonlight, cold and bare against the wooden floor. Eyes gazed out into the darkness, wide and searching, barely even blinking, scared to lose the sight ahead. Hesitantly, you leaned out of your protective circle, torso leading then feet following. Straightening your back, you proceeded down the short way, treading lightly over the brittle, splintery, wood.

At the door, you reached for the doorknob. You grazed it with your knuckles first, just to make sure it was the right one. You felt the cold, rigid, handle bump up and down your knuckles with every indent. The familiar scratches made you feel welcome. You smiled and turned it slowly, feeling it click and slide beneath your fingers. And then you pulled the door open.

The darkness was scared away suddenly, as the golden lights sprang into action on its wooden home and territory. You stood there gasping breathily, all hung up in the moment, capturing the beauty of the light as it forced the darkness away from you, and illuminated the entire room. You could feel the magic this time, physically flowing around you. You spread your arms out and embraced it, like you would with any art, or creativity. Finally, you were home, nowhere else felt as good as being here.

Slowly, savoringly, you stepped inside, saving as much time as possible. This moment right here was just so… sweet. Refreshing. You loved it because it was only the beginning. You had all the night to stay here, and worry about nothing. All the night before you had to return. That was what you loved.

By now the light was not so hard on your eyes. You could see the couch and the coffee table, the kitchen sink and the kitchen table. You allowed yourself inside, among the clutter. You brought the door to a close as you went, locking the lights back in their cage and putting a stop to its torment outside. You were confronted with the musky smell of dust and cigarette smoke, and the raw smell of Photographic Fixer. You were glad to be inside now, it was thundering outside and raining hard. Sometimes the sky would light up with lightning.

You relaxed on the living room couch, making yourself right at home without any question, concern, second thoughts, or even going to look for the resident first. You plunked yourself down right away, leaned back, closed your eyes, and let the rain soothe you. You didn’t fall asleep of course.

You weren’t exhausted, just a little strung out. Running from there to here always stressed you out a little bit. You didn’t want your roommates to find out what you’d been doing. But once you got into the apartment, you were safe and sound. No one could hurt you, or scream at you, or get at you. Nothing. All there was, was peace and quiet. You let out a heavy sigh, and enjoyed how the sour second-hand smoke stung the back of your throat. It was silent for a long, long time; just what you needed.

And then the resident came out to greet you; he was very excited to see you. “Y/N!” He exclaimed, sitting down beside, a wide smile on his face and his camera hanging around his neck. He smelled strongly of cigarettes and chemicals. You felt delighted to see him at last! “How are you? I’m so sorry I kept you waiting, you snuck right in, didn’t you?”

You giggled and leaned into him, blushing a little bit. “Mmmhmmm,” you admitted. “I needed some ‘me’ time, honestly. I enjoyed the solitude for a while.”

“Well, anyway. How ARE you, really? Everything going alright back at home?”

“Yes, Adam,” you shoved him gently. “They don’t suspect a thing. But I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to keep this under wraps. You know, I’ll be starting the night shift soon.”

“Really!?” Adam pounced on you. “That’s great news!”

“Yeah…” You glanced at the floor.

“Isn’t that what you wanted?”

“I mean… I guess, yes. But then I won’t be able to spend these nights with you anymore. You do realize that, don’t you? I already can’t see you in the daytime. How will I ever see you now?”

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. You don’t have to worry about working the night shift right now, so let’s not.”

You smiled halfheartedly, and then looked up at him. You  were laying on the couch in such a way that your body and legs were stretched out behind you, and your head was resting on Adam’s chest. You were on your stomach looking up at him, completely and utterly lovesick. Adam, as usual, was wearing his white tee, his flannel was actually tied around his waist, and he was gazing back down at you with affection.

“I missed you,” you sighed.

“Yeah?” Adam asked you softly.

You nodded. “Yeah… I was thinking about you  all day.”

“You saw me last night,” Adam pointed out casually.

“So?” You shrugged. “I still missed you.”

Adam chuckled. “Don’t worry, honey, it would have been stupid of me to pretend that I didn’t miss you either.”

You snuggled closer. Adam wrapped his arms around your back. You were happy, and your chest felt like it was about to explode from happiness. Your mind was all fuzzy and foggy as you pressed against him. Your deep, slow, breaths weren’t enough to discourage the dizziness; you felt breathless.

“Adam…” You whispered.

“Y/N…” Adam whispered back.

“I love you,” you told him. You could hear his heartbeat through his chest.

“I love you, too, baby.” Adam’s voice was soothing and affectionate. It made you woozy.

“I don’t know what I’d do without you. You’re so important.”

“I’d better be.” Adam smoothed out your hair with a hand. He lifted up your head with his other hand, and examined your rosey cheeks. You could feel your stomach stirr with unease, but something about it was consuming. It was silent in the room, each of you simply taking in the other’s presence. Both of you were fixated on what was in front of you.

Adam cast a glance down, towards your trembling and tempting lips. Your cheeks flushed brighter, becoming one with the outside atmosphere; warm and intense. His eyes traveled past your lips and towards your neck and chest, checking out all the perfect places to fondle you. And then, he brought his gaze back to your lips, leaving you with an utmost feeling of lust. It was then that he finally kissed you, bringing you to what you wanted, to what you had come for. It was breathtaking.

In a panicked rush of chaos, thoughts started to run through your mind, confusing you but most importantly discouraging you. Adam’s way with romance was too overpowering, and sometimes you didn’t know how to keep up. His fast moving lips, and the firm pressure of his mouth made your head swim. You feared that you’d mess up the moment.

But quickly, Adam progressed. He added in a stronger flavor, tearing into your mouth aggressively. You had gotten used to the smokey taste of cigarettes, in fact it was so unique you needed it, in order for it to be normal.

This feeling, it was like stars burning all over your skin, grabbing you, shaking you, introducing you to things you’d never met before. Oh, it was grandiose! And you clung onto it like there was no tomorrow. Like you’d die if you didn’t continue! Confidence was a rare thing to you, but it always came out when you hung around Adam. You felt special.

You felt a slight zing on your sensitive lips as Faulkner initiated the ending protocol, gently backing away from your overly-delicate kisser. You maneuvered so as to allow him to sit up. He did very carefully, and then watched you peacefully. You and him looked longingly into each other’s eyes passionately, loving every moment. Your breath was completely gone, wisped away into the approaching sunrise, waiting for a new arrival, waiting for its turn on earth once again but still a long way from returning. You inhaled slowly.

“I don’t know how to tell my friends that we got back together,” you said somberly.

Adam rubbed your back reassuringly. “Don’t worry about that. We’ll tell them when the time is right. They don’t have to know everything about you.”

You put your forehead on his chest, and once again felt the air leave your body.

Damn it! Adam knows exactly how to make me feel better! I can’t believe I almost lost him to Jigsaw! My friends don’t understand what good he is.

Adam pushed down on your tense shoulders. “Shh, relax. Tell me what you’re thinking about.”

Adam’s words warmed you up inside, but you couldn’t bring yourself to explain. Adam was still recovering, and your friends were worried he would lash out, but you knew better than they did. He wouldn’t DO that. And especially not to you. You didn’t want to offend Stanheight by telling him the truth, so you didn’t say anything at all.

But Adam wasn’t easily deceived. “Y/N,” he murmured directly into your ear. “Is it about your roommates?”

Hit right on the nail. You flinched and nodded.

Adam sighed empathetically. “Listen, they care about you. They just want what’s best for their friend. I understand they don’t trust me yet, but I couldn’t have made it this far without you. You’re the best thing that happened to me.” He kissed you on the top of the head.

You gazed down at his lap, hearing the rhythmic thump of Adam’s beating heart. You smiled. “Alright.”

“Hmm?” Adam cupped a cheek with one hand.

You smiled shyly to yourself. “I said ‘alright’.”

“Good. That’s good. I’m glad you’re feeling better.” His thumb trailed down your cheek. “My perfect little prince/princess. I love you so much. Do you know that?”

Adam’s constant stream of sweet-nothings was getting you lightheaded. You hugged your boyfriend closer. “Yes,” you answered automatically.

“Really?” Adam asked. He was really driving the point home.

“Yeah, I do,” you assured him.

Adam ruffled your hair. “Mr./Mrs. beautiful.”

You grinned up at him, breathless. Happiness pulsed through you. You would never get used to this. THIS was everything that kept you going. ADAM.

“You’re too nice to me,” you whispered.

“No,” Adam shrugged. “Just telling the truth.”

You laughed sweetly, and then leaned over him for the TV remote. “You up for a movie?”

Adam sat back and let you switch on the TV. “Sure. We should watch a romance.”

“Why specifically romance?”

“Or comedy. Whichever.”

You clasped your hand in Adam’s hand, and then flipped through the romcoms. “Why romance?” You asked again.

“Dunno,” Adam said casually. “Guess it was just instinctual. Why? Is there something else you’d like to watch?”

“No. This is fine.”

You were tired from a long day at work, but staying up with the love of your life was totally worth it, even if it meant sacrificing sleep for him. You’d do anything for this man, anything. It was rough being away from him for so long, though. This feeling, it was only there when you were around him. The feeling of ecstasy, squeezing you so tight you had trouble breathing. This man… he took your breath away. Perhaps even quite literally.

No matter what he did, it was ever so magical.

Kiss Me - Adam Stanheight / Reader

A/N This one is extra long so buckle down! And I’m sorry, I’m posting it from my phone bc I’m too excited to wait to get back to my computer! ~ Enjoy

.

Adam Stanheight was coming home from a grocery shopping trip. The store wasn’t about two blocks away, so walking was hardly a problem. He liked the sunshine anyway. His best friend was supposed to be coming over today. Perhaps in about forty-five minutes?

The sky was clear, but dark rain clouds were approaching on the distant horizon, and the wind was rough, whistling through the trees. Otherwise, it was a beautiful day for walking. Maybe he’d get to go out again with his friend? He couldn’t wait for YOU to come over! Just the thought got his heart all fluttery.

He rounded a corner swiftly, the wind blowing into his face and the sun blinding his eyes. Ahead of him, he saw the exact person he was thinking of, head down, arms crossed, walking fast. Adam wasn’t great at reading people but for some reason he got the feeling that you were NOT happy. His heart slowed way down, and his breath was taken away, as you shoved past him. You didn’t even know Adam was there.

Adam felt conflicted. He didn’t want to leave you, but he was too nervous to chase after. Maybe, if he made it seem like he just wanted to check in on their later plans, you wouldn’t think anything of it? He turned around and started back the way he came. “Y/N!”

You looked over your shoulder when you heard your name, giving Adam a clear view of your pouty expression.

Adam reached his hand out for your shoulder. You were cold, and shivering. You were miserable! So, now what did he do? He hadn’t planned this out very well. “Y/N…” He whispered.

“Hmmm?” You asked, looking into his eyes.

“Uh…” Any words had left Adam’s head all together. He was just so preoccupied with your appearance. He was so close to you, and it hurt. “Oh, right… Um… Are you good? I mean… Are you okay?”

You smiled in amusement. “Are you?”

“Y-Yeah,” Adam stammered. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

You laughed. “Right.”

“Um…” Adam looked around, trying to think of something else to say. “Why don’t you come back to my place?” It was supposed to be thirty degrees today, so why was he so warm?

You thought about it for a second. “Sure. I guess I can come by early. I thought you were doing something?”

“Oh… I did it.” Adam raised the bag of groceries up to you, and grinned sheepishly.

“Okay,” you agreed.

You both started to walk back. “What were you doing out here?” Adam asked you.

“Just dropping off a library book,” you replied. “It was totally lame, too. The line was out the door and everything. Like… when is there a line to the library!?”

Adam watched as you wrapped your arms around yourself, shivering and trying to warm yourself up. The flannel around Adam’s arms started to get heavy. He looked away, feeling self-conscious. “Did you get the book returned?”

“Mmhmm,” you responded quietly. And then you took in a cold, deep breath. “So… did you get everything you needed from the store?”

“Yes.” Adam noticed you rubbing your hands over your uncovered skin. He bit his lip, and proceeded to take off his flannel. He came up behind you and dropped it onto your shoulders.

You looked at him in surprise, and put your arms into his flannel sleeves. You hugged it closer to your body. “Thanks…”

Adam only nodded in response, gawking at you in disbelief. His flannel was too big for you, but it looked good on you anyway. The sleeves covered your entire hand, only showing your fingertips, and the rest of it came down to your thighs. You turned around, smiling. Adam could see that you had buttoned it up all the way. You looked really cute in his flannel.

He put an arm around your neck as you walked side-by-side. You being pressed against his side made him feel really good. He got all jittery feeling you on him. He tried not to think too much about it. You put your head on his shoulder, and Adam tensed, heat rising to his cheeks. “Comfortable?” He asked jokingly.

You nodded. “Quite.”

Adam was glad when he saw his apartment. He detangled himself from your embrace and jogged towards the door, fumbling with the key, which was still in his pocket. You trailed after him, looking lost in thought. Adam decided he’d had enough anxiety for now, and he only opened the door for you.

“Thank you, kind sir,” you teased, dipping your head to him politely.

Adam laughed. You were ridiculous! Perfect for him. “Of course, dearest.” He bowed to you.

You blushed, and pulled him up again. “Oh, sheesh…”

Adam gazed into your eyes, finding a fascination in your timid face, and rosey cheeks.

Cute…

You stared back at him, your lips parted slightly, nervously, unsure of what was going to happen next. You both were so near… Adam could hear the blood rushing in his ears, and his heartbeat thundering in his chest. Your breath was light, and warm as it crossed over his nose and mouth, and into the air.

Your eyes were so dazzling, and Adam could just get lost in them. Adam felt you clasp your hands in with his. He held on to your hands tightly, almost like he was afraid to lose you. The feeling of you in his arms was so overwhelming. He had to ignore the barrage of colors pressing around him and just focus on the grey area. You were the only thing he could keep track of.

“You’re so pretty,” Adam murmured dumbly.

You flinched back abruptly. “What? No, I just put on a sweatshirt and sweatpants!”

Adam was thrown back into reality harshly, his feelings crushed into oblivion. He was humiliated for saying that out loud! Had he just fucked up his chances? “Uh… I didn’t mean-” He stopped himself. That wouldn’t sound right at all! “Well, I think you look good in that.”

You turned away. “Okay. Thanks. I appreciate it.”

Adam hopped after you happily. “You’re welcome!”

As he opened the door to his apartment, he heard a loud thud come from inside, and he knew immediately what that was.

Shit. The pile of books fell off the table! I knew that was going to happen. Oh no! I hope Y/N doesn’t mind my disaster area for a living quarters!

You stepped inside delicately, traversing through his messy apartment. Adam wished he had cleaned up before inviting anyone over, especially YOU. This was horrible. “I’m so sorry about the mess-” He began desperately.

“Oh, don’t worry about it, Adam!” You interrupted. “I’m used to it at this point.”

“Oh…” That sentence felt like a blow to the head, but Adam knew you were simply trying to reassure him, not insult. He stumbled through his own house, and then started to pick up the fallen books.

Adam didn’t notice you helping until your hands brushed one another’s. He glanced at you in horror. “You don’t have to-”

“Don’t worry,” you repeated. “I want to.” You beamed at him.

Adam felt reluctant, but he couldn’t say ‘no’ to that face. Instead he turned back to the books and started piling them up on the table again. With each passing moment, the heat seemed to increase. Your hands and his hands mixing together to clean up the mess, and occasionally knocking into one another made it difficult for Adam to concentrate.

At last, he leaned over for the last book. At that same moment, however, you swung around and came face to face with him, the book being held in your very gentle grasp. Adam Stanheight stared at you insecurely, taking notice of how smooth your skin looked. He wondered what it felt like. And he also wondered if that was a creepy thing to wonder about. Both of your noses were practically touching.

“Oh…I’m… uh… sorry…” You mumbled awkwardly, keeping your eyes on the floor.

“Erm… It’s not…” Adam answered stupidly. “…I meant to say, YOU’RE not…” Adam trailed off, thinking hard. Neither of those had been what he had intended to say.

You looked at him, visible confusion on your face. “What?” You questioned bluntly.

Adam’s eyes became entranced on the floor, the wall, the ceiling, anything but your own gaze. He needed to open a window, sheesh! “N-No… Um… I just… was trying to say that it wasn’t stupid.”

“I didn’t say that.”

“I know,” Adam replied hastily. “I… I thought you did… But I know that you didn’t, but… What I mean, uh…” He took the book from your fingers. “Why don’t I get you some coffee?” He asked instead, and stood up, breaking the close proximity. He tossed the book onto the table, causing all the books to slide over and spread across the surface. Your work had been all for naught. You stood up as well, and put your hands flat on the surface of the table, watching Adam.

Adam gathered himself up, feeling like a moron. He started to brew the coffee. He was glad to be putting some distance between you and himself. It was an unusual feeling. In all honesty, he didn’t know what was up with himself. In the past he’d been able to look at you in the eyes with a shit-eating grin as you both started up some crazy bullshit. But now… Adam couldn’t even be in the same room as you; even THAT made him too uncomfy. And for what? Why did he feel so nervous around you? It wasn’t like you were his boss… So then why?

Too deep in his thoughts to hear the real world, he was thrown for a loop when warm arms wrapped around his waist, and a firm head was placed on his back. Adam flinched, and looked down at himself. You had come up behind him and hugged him. Your frame pressed up against his own body felt good. It was soothing, almost. He poured the hot water into the coffee pot, trying not to get distracted by your arms holding tightly onto his waist. For once he was glad you couldn’t see his face, a collage of bright reds and pinks. He liked it, though.

“Hmm, Adam…” You hummed out contentedly right behind his head.

Dizziness crashed over Adam. Hearing you so close to him was overwhelming. He leaned onto the counter. “Uh-huh?” It was the closest thing to a response that he could muster.

“You think it’s okay for best friends to change their relationship, right?” You asked hesitantly.

Adam’s fried brain tried to think of a logical answer. Unfortunately, it didn’t do that in the right direction. “Yeah, sure. If both parties really don’t like each other.”

Silence.

“I mean, you know. If the people decide that the other isn’t good for them,” Adam added.

“I think you misunderstand,” you told him gently. “Let me try again.”

Adam felt frazzled. Had he said something wrong? He was just trying to give an honest opinion. He did believe that it was okay for best friends to stop hanging out, if the relationship wasn’t working out. Did you think he meant that about you guys!? “Y/N! I didn’t mean that about us!”

“I know,” you replied calmly.

“What did you mean?”

“I guess I was just wondering if it was okay to have a favorite bff…” you murmured quietly. “Like, one you want to spend the most time with. One you would rather be with than the others.”

“I think that’s fine.”

“Do you have someone like that?”

Adam had to think it over. He couldn’t really think of anyone that he would rather spend more time with… Well that wasn’t true actually. He could, but he was scared to admit that. What would YOU think? “Well, sometimes I want to be with someone else more than another. What about you?”

“Oh…” you whispered nervously. “Yeah… There’s someone I’d rather be with than the rest of our friend group…”

Adam turned around to look at you, confused. “Who?”

You stared at him in disbelief, like he had just suggested breathing underwater. “Uh…” You folded your lips and looked at the ground.

Adam smiled. “What?”

You laughed nervously.

“Am I missing something?”

You backed away, shaking your head. “Oh, never mind, Adam…”

Adam, not being the greatest at reading people, detected some kind of dissatisfaction coming from his ‘bff’. It made him even more uncomfortable, seeing someone that he liked a lot feeling unhappy. “Um… Wait! Y/N!”

You looked up at him. “What is it, Adam?”

“Is there something you want me to say?” He asked you worriedly.

You let out a sound that was in between a laugh and a scoff. “What am I supposed to say to that?”

“Is there?” Adam insisted.

At Adam’s persistence, you couldn’t help but give in. You ducked your head embarrassedly. “There MIGHT be something I was hoping you would say…”

Now that he was facing you, Adam had a clear view of your beautiful face. The rosy cheeks, the smooth skin, the luscious lips, that perfect hair. He was obsessed. His gaze flicked up and down your face for a few short moments, then he finally said, “I really like you…”

Your eyes widened, and Adam felt his heart drop a thousand feet into the ground. He wanted to suffocate in the dirt but also wanted to blossom. He was conflicted. Had he said the right thing this time? You obviously thought so. You smiled widely at Adam, relief washing over you. “I was thinking you’d never say it…” You murmured.

“A lot…” Adam added clumsily.

You smiled shyly. “I like you, too… A lot…”

“What do I do with that information?” Adam asked sarcastically.

You chuckled a little at that.

Being so close to you felt amazing. But something just wasn’t right yet. What was it? Why did it feel like the moment wasn’t quite complete? He grabbed your hands but it still wasn’t right. Your foreheads were even touching, how could this NOT be what Adam was yearning for? Though something was off, there was a satisfaction inside him. If this was all he got from you, he would be just fine with that. He took in the rest of you. Your lips were luscious… luscious…

That was it! He wanted you to put an end to his suffering. He wanted to feel you. He wanted you to put your mouth on his mouth and make him forget about everything. That’s right, he wanted you to kiss him.

You, kissing me?

The thought seemed impossible.

Kiss me… Please…

But not unreal.

Adam leaned forward slightly, breathing in your sweet scent and brushing his skin over yours. You pressed in as well, feeling satisfied. From one moment to the next, Adam could barely keep track of time. Slowly, you closed the gap between your lips, kissing Adam cautiously, intimately, fiercely.

Adam was swept away by large emotions of bliss. He let you pull at his shirt, and he closed his eyes. This felt so good, just being able to touch the one that he craved. He was enjoying this way too much.

After some light kissing, he backed away, getting a disbelieving look from you. Adam inhaled sharply, trying to calm his pounding heart. The both of you exchanged steamy breaths of air, until you decided you had waited long enough.

Still feeling your humid breath in his mouth, he reacted glady to having your lips in his once again. He slid his hands up your shirt, and started massaging your fragile skin. Your skin was soft and just as smooth as it appeared. His hands skimmed up your stomach, up your chest, making a few detours, and climbed up your neck, where he wrapped his arms around your neck and pulled you in close.

Your body pressing against him intrigued him so much. He longed for more, and you obliged. Keeping a solid stream of kissing in motion, you pushed him against the counter, making him moan. He propped himself up with his elbows, still kissing you.

The pressure on his lips made him woozy, and he grabbed harder onto the counter top, trying not to get dizzy. This was difficult because your impeccable kissing just kept drowning him in massive waves of delight. The hard counter top dug into his back painfully, but he didn’t care, you were all so sense-consuming. You devoured him hungrily, like a magnet being drawn to its opposite. You carved a pathway between your mouths, sketching and molding and forging a personalized course for just the two of you, one that couldn’t be retraced unless both of the originating participants were present.

It was eye-opening.

Dry and dull, that was the next scene. The feeling of you pulling away was agonizing; venomous bites all over his lips and jaws, giving Adam a headache. He didn’t want you to stop. He didn’t want you to leave. He didn’t want you to break the close proximity. He groaned unhappily.

“Y/N, what are you doing?”

You blinked at him tiredly. “Heh, sorry, Adam. It’s getting a little hot in here, don’t you think?”

Adam had gotten used to the blood rush. He’d forgotten all about opening the window. “Oh yeah… I could open a window, if you’d like?”

You sat back. “Oh, no. It’s okay. Just a little-” you cut off suddenly to chuckle nervously.

“Hey, um…” Adam found himself saying. He wasn’t sure what he was going to say or why, but he trusted his subconscious to get it right. “I’d really like it if you stayed the night. If you’re up for it. I just thought… you know, since we’re here and all, it might be nice.”

You laid a hand on top of Adam’s shoulder. “Yeah. I WOULD like that.”

Adam felt his heart skip a beat. After so long of waiting, he’d finally done the right thing. Was it worth it? Was it real?

He hoped so.

He’d have to wait and see.

Memory - Adam Stanheight / Reader

A/N this was inspired by Taylor Swift's song 'Red'

.

You picked up the newspaper. It was wrinkled and cold, and aged to fit the part. You still couldn’t believe it had been so long since the accident. You still felt empty sometimes, but now that it was over, it was a little bit more manageable. Jigsaw had been arrested this time, finally. At least, that’s what it said three years ago, perhaps it wasn’t still true.

As you looked at the picture on the front page, you felt cold chills surge up inside you. It was a picture of Adam Faulkner Stanheight, in one of his more casual looks. He was smiling awkwardly, looking at the camera reluctantly, almost like he didn’t want his picture taken. You had taken it, and you remembered that moment vividly.

You had accompanied him to one of his client’s places. You had attended just for fun, despite having no real purpose being there. Adam was glad you were there, though. You both had a bunch of fun, messing around with the camera, laughing and taking selfies. Of course, this was after Adam’s photoshoot of his client. You had felt so happy, so refreshed then.

Adam had dared you to take a good picture of him. He had given you the camera, but he didn’t believe you could do it. You waited for a long time, never once keeping your eyes off your boyfriend, just waiting for the right time. You made a couple of jokes, and off-handed comments, trying to distract Adam from you.

“You can’t get me by surprise,” Adam said. “I’m too wary…”

“I don’t know about that,” you replied.

Adam raised an eyebrow at you. But little did he know, you had already outsmarted him. “Are you gonna have a smoke?”

“What?” He wondered. “I didn’t bring any cigarettes with me-”

“Are you sure about that? You know I always keep a few on me… Just for YOU.” You reached into your back pocket and held out a cigarette.

Adam eyed it distrustfully and then said, “Why… Why do you WANT me to take it? This is unlike you…”

“Well… Can you say no to this?”

Adam took it from you. “Not if you push it into my face… It’s a good thing I always keep a lighter on me for scenarios like these.”

You smirked. “Of course I do. Go on. I’ve got all the time in the world.”

Adam tilted his head at you. “What the hell? Why are you so eager for me to start smoking? This isn’t something normal.”

“No,” you assured him. “You just… look really hot when you're smoking…”

Adam laughed, and you raised the camera.

Snap!

One single picture of your beautiful boyfriend. He looked embarrassed to realize your words. “Oh, you don’t mean that…”

“Yes, I do,” you whispered. “I got a picture of you. It looks really good, baby.”

Adam grimaced, and nearly dropped his lighter. “You can’t be serious! There’s no way you got a photo. I look disgusting!”

You shook your head. “No, you don’t.”

“I love you,” you whispered the next part in real life, as you came out of your flashback.

“ ‘I love you, too,’ he said.”

The newspaper in your hands was claiming the tragic death of your beloved boyfriend, giving the grim details of Jigsaw’s game.

That moment in the client’s backyard came flooding you again. You could hear Adam’s voice in your ears loudly. “I love you, too.”

Fuck…

His hands traveled down your jaw, his eyes shining. He had pinned you to the grass after you took the picture. “Who gives a damn about the cigarette at this point? You’re looking so fuckable right now.”

You squeaked, and laughed. “No. You’re just saying that.”

“Show me the picture.”

“Okay.” You fumbled with the camera before flipping through its contents and selecting the last one. You held it up for Adam to see.

He looked at it halfheartedly. “Well, I guess I don’t look like a mess in that one. But… I still look stupid.”

You cupped his cheek. “What? No, you don’t! Of course you don’t! Come on, when will you see yourself the way I see you? You’re beautiful. Everything about you is beautiful!”

“ ‘Hardly’.” Your voice echoed around the apartment, and you sighed sadly.

Where are you, Adam? I miss you. It’s getting lonely in here.

You put the newspaper on the counter again, Adam’s secondhand smoke filling your nose and his touch corrupting your nerves. You were pulled back into the memory.

“Adam,” you grumbled unhappily, feeling your boyfriend’s breath on your neck. “Stop being so negative about yourself. You’re better than that!”

“Fine, for now.” Adam shrugged, and then started kissing you roughly on your skin.

You groaned and leaned your head back. His lips traveled down to your collar bones, and you let him have his way with you. It felt so good. “Oh, baby…”

“Hm? Like that? Good thing we’re here all by ourselves…” He glanced over at his client, who gagged, and pointed to the driveway. He was trying to indicate that, if they were gonna fuck, they were gonna have to leave. “Alright. Maybe not,” Adam added and sat up.

Your cheeks were hot and flushed, you could barely breathe. “O-Okay… Yeah, let’s leave… I… Want you now…”

Adam gathered himself up. “Sure thing, princess/prince.”

You cringed. “Don’t call me that.”

Adam smirked. “My princess/prince.”

You dashed across the yard. “Catch me!”

The flashback ended suddenly as you felt strong arms wrap around you. That familiar tangy scent wreathed around you enticingly. You melted into the embrace. “ ‘Easy. I’m faster than you anyway’...”

That was the response he gave you that day.

“Adam!” You flung yourself around and hugged him tightly.

Your boyfriend, fiance now, was smiling down at you smugly. “What? Thinking about me?”

You blushed and looked down. “Uh… Y-Yeah… I was…”

Faulkner noticed the newspaper on the counter, and he took it in his fingers gently. “What’s this doing still around?” He threw it in the basin. “You know Jigsaw’s in jail for what he did.”

You couldn’t meet your lover’s eyes. Self consciously, you mumbled, “I… know… but you weren’t here, and this is such a good picture of you. That’s why I gave it to the press all those years ago.”

Adam went rummaging through the pile of magazines. “Well, why don’t you use THIS one?” He threw you another newspaper.

The front page was splashed with the same picture of him, and the headline read:

‘Missing Adam Stanheight Still Alive?’

You gravely admitted, “That one was closer.” You looked into the basin.

“ ‘Stanheight says ‘the police were outside already when my cellmate got out. He was able to alert them to my presence.’ It was a miracle he got out, but what has he been doing this whole time’?” Adam was reading a clip from the newspaper.

“I can’t believe the police tracked your phones through all that. I mean, that one brilliant officer who thought to look BEHIND Jigsaw’s hideout, must be rich.”

“I’m glad they did, though. I woulda been dead meat.”

"And afterwards you just stayed with me to recover."

"I didn't forget."

You pulled Adam down. “I’m so sorry. Please cuddle me.”

Adam straddled you. “Anything for my sweet princess/prince.”

You wriggled. “Why do you still call me that?”

“Because that’s what you are. My royal highness.”

“Oh, stop exaggerating!”

“Hey, I learned to love myself, now it's your turn!”

You beamed at him. “Okay. I am your highness...” The words felt strange to say, and you shuddered at them.

“Better.”

"But that means you're my Survivor," you said cheesily.

"Fine by me." Adam started kissing you on the lips, and you moaned into him.

“I love you,” you whispered.

Adam’s eyes flicked down your body. “Oooh, I love my baby more than they can imagine.”

Chills ran up your spine, and you put your head on his chest. Adam hugged you close, murmuring sweet nothings into your ear, and making you feel good. This was what you needed. Oh yes, this was what you DEFINITELY needed.

Finally… You’re home…

Let Me Touch You - Adam Stanheight / Reader

Adam Faulkner Stanheight was sitting at the far end of the park, you could see him through the trees, looking rather lonely. You quickened your speed so that you were jogging. Though it was nearly freezing you still pulled your clothes up and went bounding to the bench that Adam was resting in.

When you flopped down, he looked at you. “Y/N!” He said cheerfully. His eyes had lit up when he saw you; he looked very glad to see you.

You beamed at him. “Hello, Adam. What are you doing all by your lonesome?”

Adam leaned back against the wet, icy, bench back. “Nothing. I wasn’t sure if I should bother you or not.”

You raised an eyebrow at him, and scoffed. “Like I would be bothered by my boyfriend visiting me on Valentine’s Day.”

Adam frowned. “I thought you had something to do today…”

“Like what, hanging out with you? My schedule’s empty. Come on, let’s go for a walk.”

Adam stood up eagerly. “Okay. I’d love to.”

You laced your fingers in with Adam’s and started the long trek around the one mile park. Adam leaned in close and whispered, “Well thank you for coming to find me. I would have been sitting there all day.”

“Wow. Don’t be so low-spirited,” you encouraged. “No need to think like that, you’ll only disappoint yourself.”

“Sorry. It’s kinda hard after… um… everything…”

You sighed sympathetically. “I know. It’s going to be okay. You don’t have to worry about it. We’ll be together through it all.”

Adam wrapped an arm around your waist. You walked for a couple more minutes until you found a little tea shop that looked warm. Since it had started to rain, you both decided to take shelter inside. It was a smart decision because as soon as your feet touched the welcome mat it started pouring down outside, covering everything in a thick layer of water.

You walked up to the counter with Adam in tow. There were plenty of varieties, but the one you wanted was in the middle somewhere. The cute barista took your order. You had ordered (favorite tea.) Adam ordered the same thing and you both found a place in the back to sit quietly together.

“I just love the flavor of that tea,” Adam said as he sat down beside you.

“Me too. I get it every time.” You smiled.

“You look gorgeous, by the way,” Adam told you abruptly. “Did you know that is my favorite outfit on you?”

Your eyes stretched wide in surprise. “Oh… I did not. Thank you very much.”

Adam’s eyes traveled down your body, taking in your curves and abs. You felt special as he observed you. You were HIS prized possession.

A waiter came up to you with your drinks. Each of you took a cup and started blowing into it. The smoke rising scattered dramatically, like a phantom running from water. You could smell the ripe scents of its ingredients. You took a sip gently. It burned your tongue but it was worth it to feel the warmth go down your throat and warm you up from within. You sighed out contentedly.

Adam lowered his head to yours. “I don’t think I even need the tea…” he confessed. “You’re hot enough.” He gave you a wink, appearing rather proud of himself for the pickup line.

You shoved him with your shoulder. “Oh shut up. I can’t be hotter than the tea.”

“You might be surprised,” Adam said quickly.

“If you think I’M hot, then you should go look at yourself. You pull it off so much better than I do.”

Adam scoffed. “No. You’re just being nice.”

“Of course not. Do you think I’d lie to you?”

“No!” Adam admitted adamantly.

“Good. How’s the tea?”

“Hot… But I like it. It’s perfect for this weather.”

“It sure is,” you agreed. “Just how I like it.”

You looked back into your tea, just letting the fog keep your face warm, and Adam took the advantage. In your moment of bliss and unsuspicion you felt something climb down your sensitive body, all the way from your waist to your inner thigh. You brought your face up again. Adam was looking at you seriously. “How's Valentine's Day going?” You asked him.

“It’s going great now that I’m with you,” Adam responded sincerely. “I don’t know what I’d do without such an amazing person!”

You blushed and looked into your lap. “Oh… I’m sure you’d make it.”

“Ha. Maybe I would, but barely. I need you in my life.” Adam moved his hand up and down along your left thigh. You pretended not to notice. Instead, you just finished up your tea and leaned back. It was still horribly raining outside, but at least the sun was out now.

You were pulled in close unexpectedly by Adam. You looked up at him. “What’s up?”

“Nothing.”

You pulled away from him, and Adam took one last drink from his cup. You said, “Are you ready to go back out? It’s getting kinda hot in here.”

“Sure.” He gave you his coat. “Just take this, though. I don’t want you to get too wet out there.”

You gave it back to him. “No. I don’t want you to be cold. We all know how you are when you get cold.”

“Alright,” Adam reluctantly took the coat back. “But only because you want me to.”

You ruffled his hair. “I love you.”

“Love you, too.”

Adam tried to take your hand, but you had other ideas. You pulled it away from him and went racing for the door excitedly. “Come on, Adam! Hurry up, we gotta get out there before the rain lets up.”

“You WANT to go out in the rain?” Adam wondered miserably.

“Duh!” You exclaimed. “The rain is awesome! Come on, let’s go.”

Adam came up behind you, trying to snake his arm around your waist. Unfortunately, you could feel his attempt, and you pulled away from him. You spun around to face your boyfriend, who had on a look of dissatisfaction. He strolled up to you hesitantly. “Where are we going now?”

You shrugged. “Hmmm. We could go back home?”

Adam nodded. “If you want. But, there’s a bakery not far from here. I can’t imagine you turning that down.”

You thought for a minute then realized it would still work out in your plans. “Okay. If you can wait that long.”

“What do you mean by THAT?”

You shrugged. “Oh… I could mean many things by that…”

“That doesn’t answer my question,” Adam pointed out.

You darted off, and Adam had to chase after you. “What the hell are you doing? You do know I didn’t sleep well last night, right?”

You stopped and glanced over your shoulder. “What was that? I can’t hear you over the rain.”

Adam looked around miserably, then huffed. He ran to catch up to you. “I said, I didn’t sleep well. So can we please just stick to walking?”

You raised an eyebrow. “Sure you can, if you want to be left behind.” You gave him a playful wink.

Adam groaned. “What’s gotten into you?”

“You’ve got enough energy, baby,” you predicted. “Just run with me.”

“Okay,” Adam mumbled. “Perhaps I have… some.” He reached out an arm to lay it on your shoulders. You allowed it to brush you before grabbing Adam’s hand and racing off across the park. Adam stumbled after you, and nearly fell over.

You caught him. “Woah. Come on, get your head in the game, or have you forgotten how to run?”

“N-No…” Adam stammered awkwardly. “I… just… It was a messy start.” He let go of your hand, which allowed him to run with you instead of behind you. He grinned at you. “Maybe you were right.”

“Of course I was. I’m always right,” you joked.

Adam shook his head. “Now stop that. You’re not supposed to AGREE.”

You shrugged at him. “Whoops,” you said carelessly.

“Hey!” Adam grabbed your arm, pulling you back. You fell into him, and he hugged you so tightly that your arms were pinned to your sides. He looked at you from over your head. “Stop avoiding me, damn it!” He snapped. “Don’t act like I’ve not been noticing.”

You gave him your most innocent face. “Well, I don’t believe I have.”

“Don’t give me that shit! You know what you’ve been doing.” There was a glint of desperation in his eyes, but also enjoyment.

Yeah, You thought incredulously. You’re definitely not having the time of your life.

“Stop pretending you don’t like it,” you retorted.

“Come on, my dearest. I think you’ve gotten a little confused. Take it down a notch.”

You fought in his grasp. “Nah. I don’t think so, babe,” you remarked sarcastically.

You swung your legs back and forth. Your intentions were harmless, of course; all you were trying to do was shift the weight from back to front so that Adam would fall over, hence releasing you from his grip. But… you may have gotten a little too rough. In the end, Adam did end up falling down but not for the correct reasons…

You stumbled away from him. “Oww…” Adam grumbled. “I wasn’t trying to KIDNAP you, relax!”

You knelt down next to him. “Sorry…” you whispered, feeling a little embarrassed. “I didn’t mean to… hurt you…”

Adam tilted his head at you and gave you a bewildered look. “What did you THINK was going to happen kicking your legs between mine?”

You glanced at the grass awkwardly. “I was trying to unbalance you.”

Adam sat up finally, laughing a little. “Well, it worked, didn’t it?”

You looked up at him sadly. “Sorry,” you whispered again.

“It’s okay, I suppose,” he teased with a smile.

You tackled him to the ground. “ ‘Suppose’? What do you want me to do? Get some Tylenol? I’ve got some, I think, in my purse,” you wailed wittily.

Adam leaned his head back into the wet grass and gazed up at his partner. “No. I’m good now.” He was smiling slightly.

The rain was still coming down hard. It crashed down all around the both of you, smothering you and your boyfriend in water. It trickled down your hair and face, and got into your eyes and nose. Adam wasn’t having a better time. His hair was plastered to his head, his clothes were glued to his thin body. You loved being able to see his form around his clothes. “I love seeing you like this,” you informed him.

Adam raised his eyebrows at you. “Why? Do I look better after I’ve been thoroughly drenched by the rain?”

“I mean…” You trailed off.

Your reply was enough for Adam to get the idea. He grabbed your neck and pulled you down. “Now tell me why the fuck you’re not letting me hold you.”

You smirked at him. “Awwwe. Is it getting to you, baby? It was your idea to go to the bakery.”

Adam nodded gradually. “So that’s what you meant. I see. I see your little cleverness. Well, I don’t think I should let you get too out of hand. Maybe we should go home and fix this?”

“I’m not the one who needs fixing.”

“Oh? And why’s that? You ARE the one acting out.”

You cast him a condescending frown. You didn’t answer his question directly. All you gave him was a simple, curt, response. “I’m also not the one who thought they were all alone on Valentine’s Day.”

Adam opened his mouth in fake hurt. He looked at you, pretending to be offended. “I can’t even believe you would say that. I was trying to be NICE.”

“Silly goose, even if I was hanging out with the family, I would have still loved to see you anyway. Even a call wouldn’t have hurt. But no, you just decided my family business was too important. More important.”

“Well- I- er… I never said that…” Adam glanced away self-consciously.

“More important than VALENTINE’S DAY?” You continued. “More important than ME? More important than US?”

Adam squirmed under you. “N-No… That… isn’t how- I just meant- I wasn’t saying it like THAT!”

You got to your feet, and bent down to help him up as well. He took your hand shyly. “Just… stop avoiding me… I love you…”

I love you, too, you little rascal. But understand that you don’t need to worry about what I think of you.

“Oh Adam,” You said out loud. “I love you more than you can imagine.”

“Show me…” Adam requested.

You let out a low laugh. “You don’t want me to.”

“Yes, I do.”

“Alright. If you so insist.”

Carefully, you put your mouth to Adam’s. You started to kiss him lightly. Your lips not giving him all that you could. You wanted him to WANT you. You shoved your hands up his shirt, messaging him, and climbing his stomach up to his chest. Your hands made… a couple of detours...

Adam pulled away. “What the fuck is this? I told you to SHOW me, not CODDLE me.”

You looked around. “I mean… I could fuck you right here, in front of the strip mall. Is that what you want?”

Adam bit his bottom lip anxiously. “That… wasn’t what I had in mind, no…”

You raised a scornful eyebrow at him. “Okay then. Now do you want to go home?”

Adam laughed awkwardly, but didn’t give you an outright answer. “Well, you see… The thing is… The bakery will always be here for us to go to tomorrow.”

You headed back the way you had come. “Alrighty. Race me?”

“Shit, baby. You know I didn’t sleep well.”

“Then let me take care of you. You can sleep for the rest of the day after that.”

“Oh…” Adam murmured. “Your way with words is… arousing…”

“One more reason to hurry then, right? So what do you say about racing me?”

“Oh, definitely. I’m up for that.”

You shook your head. “Instantly changed your mind?”

Adam sidestepped up to you. “Well,” he drawled. “I love you…”

“I love you, too, Adam.”

Adam beamed at you, adoration was shimmering in his eyes brilliantly. “Okay. So, when we get home-”

You took off running across the grass. “Catch me, Adam, baby. Or do you want me to do myself?”

Adam ran after you. “No. I’m coming!”

“Yeah.” Your voice dropped. “Yeah baby. You will be.”

And Adam nearly tripped over his own feet. This year’s Valentine’s Day was going smoothly. Neither of you could wait to get back to the apartment, but Adam was especially titillated. And you could already tell; it was all you needed to get yourself worked up.

What now? You wondered. Hmm. I guess we’ll see when we get home, but which one should come first? The strip tease or the dirty talk?

Fever Dream - Adam Stanheight / Reader

A/N This one's inspired by Taylor Swift's song, Marjorie.

.

You coughed miserably into your pillow. The window was open and AC was on. Vision blurring, and head pounding, you tossed and turned under the covers of your king sized bed. You had never felt so sick in your entire life. Someone was moving around in the background, you couldn’t see who it was. The world rotated horrendously. “Bff’s Name,” you choked out.

Someone was kneeling next to you. “What’s the matter, Y/N? I’m right here.”

Confused, you looked around. Whose voice was that? It sounded familiar. “Adam?”

“Y/N…” The voice sounded somber. “A… Um… Adam’s not here.”

You tried to find the source of the voice. “Hmm?” You grumbled. “Bff’s Name? I don’t understand what’s happening. Where am I? I can’t see anything.”

“I know. I’ve been trying to bring the fever down all night.”

You rolled onto your back, and gazed at the ceiling, watching the floor flip over your head for a moment. You grasped the bed sheets as pain engulfed your stomach, and you squeezed your eyes shut. Maybe you’d feel better if you couldn’t see anything?

“Y/N,” the familiar voice spoke out to you again.

You furrowed your eyebrows. Who was that? It wasn’t your friend’s voice, it was too different. The only other person you could think of was your boyfriend…

Deceased boyfriend, you corrected yourself.

You called out anyway, “Baby!?”

“Hi,” Adam’s voice rang in your ears. It was so real, you couldn’t wrap your head around it. You grumbled a series of responses that nobody could understand. “Why are you so cold, Y/N? Pull the blankets up, silly.”

Obediently, you lifted the blankets up further. “Oh, hey. We’re trying to take DOWN this fever,” your friend breathed into your ear.

You fought against them. “No, stop! Just let me stay like this. Adam told me to. I can hear him, can’t you?”

Your friend looked awkwardly around the room, puzzled. “Um… No, I can’t.”

“Friend’s name, I thought that Adam didn’t make it out of SAW?”

Your friend rubbed your head soothingly. “Shh. It’s okay. I know it’s confusing right now, but you’ll get better.”

“I mean… I know he’s not here, but… why do I hear his voice so clearly? Why is it like he’s right here? I’m not mental, am I? I’m not, I swear!”

Your bff kept stroking their fingers through your hair vigorously, trying to get you to go back to sleep. The world flipped over again, and you felt nauseous. Your skin felt like it was burning.

Goddamn it! You kicked the blankets off of your body, and shivered. Figures!

“Hey,” Adam asked you suddenly. “You think they’ve arrested Jigsaw?”

“Huh?” You tried to sit up but your best friend held you down. “I don’t know. Why would I know that, Adam?”

“I dunno.”

“Shit, baby, you have to tell me what’s going on. I thought you were dead. This can’t be real.” Adam didn’t answer that question, much to your disappointment. “Adam?”

“Y/N… Adam didn’t make it. He didn’t make it out. I’m sorry.”

Your best friend’s words didn’t make any kind of sense. Adam OBVIOUSLY wasn’t dead… No, that wasn’t right. He couldn’t be ALIVE, because he’d been gone for one year. Well, obviously, what died didn’t stay dead. He was alive in your head, that was for sure.

“You’re not dead, are you?” You asked halfheartedly.

“Of course I’m not dead!” Your friend snapped. “What are you talking about?”

“I was asking Adam,” you replied plainly.

Your friend raised their eyebrows in surprise. “Oh, well…” They didn’t seem to approve of that statement.

You could hear Adam’s voice so faintly, it was almost like you could touch it. If you stretched your arm out far enough you would find ADAM there. But the cold air on your skin frightened you, and kept you from trying to find him. You were too scared of feeling sick again, too tired to move.

Your friend nodded. “There we go. Go to sleep, Y/N. Everything’s going to be A-okay next time you wake up.”

No, you thought distantly. No, not yet! Adam’s still here, I know it. I have to find him again. Just one more time, please!

“Adam!” You wailed.

Adam’s voice came drifting over to you tenuously. He was singing softly, but you couldn’t hear what it was he was singing. It was probably just random notes and tunes that sounded nice. You relaxed, and smiled. You could get used to this. “It’s like you’re right here,” you mumbled. “But I know better, you can’t be around.”

Adam stopped singing then. “Whatever you say…”

“No, wait! Come back!”

“I’m right here, Y/N. I’ll never leave you. I love you.”

“I love you, too.” There was a silence for some time until finally, you asked, “Why didn’t I ask you more questions when you were alive? I remember watching you sign your name. I remember those frozen swims, and long car rides. I should have kept every grocery store receipt, ‘cause every scrap of you would be taken from me.”

“There’s nothing you can do about it now, Y/N,” Adam told you quietly. “Just… don’t forget the life you have. Don’t end up like me.”

You started crying. “I miss you. I don’t want to be separated from you. I wish you were here with me all the time!”

“I know. But I can’t come back.”

“Fuck,” you hummed out frustratedly. “I know better than this! I know that you can’t be real! But… I guess what died didn’t stay dead…”

“Go to sleep, baby. You need to get your strength up so that when you wake up tomorrow you won’t be feeling so shitty. Come on, I want you to feel better.”

“No,” you grumbled.

“Yes.” Adam whispered directly into your ear.

Exhaustion bulldozed into you unexpectedly. You closed your eyes and let your breath even out. “Oh alright. I’ll go to sleep.” You yawned. “I’m so fucking tired anyway.” Your words were starting to slur together. You allowed yourself to drift.

In the background you could hear your bff exclaim, “Good god, finally!”

“I-I love y-you,” you stuttered.

Adam’s voice filled you with content and happiness, as he said, “I love you, too.” It echoed around your head and filled your ears, but somehow - just somehow - it was lulling.

...

In a panic you awoke from your slumber, frantically kicking your blankets and medicine off the bed, screaming and crying all at once. Your head was pounding, your stomach was churning, your throat was sore, and one half of your body felt like it was being cooked alive while the other half felt like it was being frozen miles underwater. Your heart thrashed against your ribcage, like a wild animal trying to break out of it’s tight confines at the zoo.

Your friend was lying next to you on the bed. They felt you writhing and woke up. “Y/N, Y/N! It’s okay! Woah, calm down! What’s wrong?” They launched themselves on top of you just to get a hold of your moving body.

“Something’s not right!” You shouted. “Something’s not right at all! Where’s Adam? Wasn’t he… Wasn’t… he?” Finally back to your senses, you realized your mistake. “Oh… Oh no… I’m hungry, Bff’s Name.”

Your best friend got out of the bed and went to grab a snack from the kitchen. The medicine and blankets still on the floor tripped them and they went sprawling on the ground. “Ugh!” They plopped the blankets back onto the bed in annoyance. “Get them all fixed how you like. I’ll be right back.”

You started to spread the blankets out on the bed. The moonlight shining in from the window caught your attention and you stared at the white moon, a feeling of realism hovering over you.

None of that had been real. None. Not a single thing. You were flabbergasted. Adam had sounded so close to you, but… now it was over. While you still didn’t feel good, you weren’t feeling miserable anymore. You just felt sick. ‘Sick’ was something you could deal with. Whatever had happened earlier that night was something you never wanted to reenact. You started fixing the blankets again.

Your friend walked in and gave you something to munch on. You were grateful for them. You ate your snack in silence as your friend crawled over you and tried to go back to sleep.

“I feel better now,” you said aloud.

“That’s great! I’m so sorry about earlier, that was rough.”

“It’s okay. Thank you so much for sticking with me.”

“Of course!” Your best friend sounded surprised.

You laid back down, your thoughts still preoccupied by Adam. You couldn’t go to sleep after this, but that was alright, it was lovely outside. You stayed and watched the moon fall behind the horizon and the sun rise up after it. It was a peaceful state of affairs, but… in all honesty, you couldn’t wait for the moment when sleep took over once again, and brought you out of this cramped hell.
