Yes, the skip button ending was obviously scary and traumatizing for the Narrator. But sometimes I stop and think about how horrifying that must have been for Stanley.

Just imagine. Imagine having to watch as the only guiding light you have slowly flickers and fades away, slowly burns out and wishes for you to join it. To be alone in that dark, with nothing but the button, knowing that there’s no way to save either of you, so you have no choice but to keep harming that light.
