𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒. Kinda inspired by the Post-it wedding Derek and Meredith had. Please, I’m so desperate for a relationship, but the thought of actually being in one sounds… :D No thank you. Maybe not now.

Oikawa Toru is not a violent man. He’s dramatic in nature, so he’s more of the ‘silent brooding’ type. The kind with the dark cloud raining over the characters in those Saturday morning cartoons. Lightning would strike every now and then just to add to it, too.  

If he ever did open his mouth to speak, his words were…Well, his words were rather colorful. He’s always been good at expressing himself, it comes to no surprise at all. His mouth is a revolver and his words are like bullets firing into your chest, one more painful than the last. 

May the gods bless the heart of the one on the receiving end of it. 

And after a whole month of quietly sizzling and ignoring you, you become the target. 

“You’re just jealous I have more drive than you!” Oikawa spits at you, quite literally. He’s brimming at the limit with rage as he looks at you like a sworn enemy. He’s absolutely livid, completely unrecognizable to you. In all your years with him, you’ve never seen him this angry. 

Oikawa’s nails dig deep into the leather of the steering wheel as he speeds down the road on your way to your parents’ house for dinner. His eyes flicker back to the dimly lit road, keeping it there for the remainder of the drive.

You wanted to bail on dinner, but you’ve cancelled one too many times; you’ve run out of too many excuses.  And at this point, you’d feel incredibly guilty if you did it again. You’d never hear the end of it from your mom. 

“You’re just jealous that I actually have something to live for while - while you do what? What is that you do, wasting your life away on what?” 

Very slowly, you twist your head with a murderous glare in your eyes, flashing beneath the row of lamplights the cars zooms down the road; “How dare you.” It’s more of a statement than it is a question, and it sends an unwelcome shiver up Oikawa’s spine. Just for a moment his stoned heart softens - just for a moment. 

You’ve been biting your tongue and holding back on stepping on his toes and crossing a line. But it seems your boyfriend doesn’t mind parading himself right over it.

i had a friend who simply hated oikawa because he ALMOST hit kageyama. like i get it, i really do. i know some peoples comfort characters are kageyama and they’re just mad because kageyama almost got hurt but how are you gonna hate oikawa for almost hitting him when kageyama literally threw hinata on the floor- plus oikawa immediately regretted his decision and apologized afterwards. ngl it was fine when she told me she didn’t like him like i respected her opinion but then every time i mentioned him she would point out all of his flaws, she even mentioned how she doesn’t like how oikawa gives iwaizumi a hard time?? but she also said she likes iwaizumi because he’s mean to oikawa?? it literally makes no sense to me 😩

See I can get behind maybe thinking he’s annoying and therefore just not being a character you like, but when people dislike him for his “actions” I’m like what actions.

So let’s have a mini break down that no one asked for.

First of all, if you dislike Oikawa for how he is to Kageyama, imma laugh in your face because you’re a hypocrite. You better hold Kageyama to that exact same standard because he pretty much ruined volleyball for Kindaichi for a good two years AT LEAST along with other members I’m sure, and Oikawa at least was only holding himself to unreasonable standards, Kageyama was a dickhead while imposing the high standards on everyone around him. Oikawa is incredibly patient with his teammates in trying to help them grow, and he’s pretty sweet about it too. And then there’s Kageyama. I love him, but he’s not exactly the most supportive teammate we all can agree to that.

Secondly, if you tell me that you’ve never rolled your eyes or hated on someone for being naturally talented at something, you’re lying to yourself. I’ll elaborate bc I’ve been in both positions. I have most certainly rolled my eyes at someone who’s naturally gifted in let’s say a subject that I’m not particularly strong at, and likewise I’ve had people roll their eyes at me when I’ve done well on a test or something. It’s like human nature and it happens everywhere. People roll their eyes at people that are naturally pretty in their opinion, and hate on them for the sole reason that they’re pretty, and that’s normalized on the daily. To me, I just can’t see what Oikawa’s done or said that’s out of the ordinary. He was a bit obnoxious when Kageyama asked him for advice sure, but I think that was more exaggerated for comedic purposes if anything, when was the last time you ACTUALLY saw someone ask someone else to bend over and take a picture with them for their advice? It was just a small things they added for the show y’all, not everything needs to be looked into so deeply.

His character has a really good duality to it, literally everyone around him fawns over him, especially his two biggest competitors, and he sits there and sees himself as wayyyy less than that. Part of it is true, everyone thinks he’s just so good, but he knows he’s not as good as they think and it took him way more work to get there, but also part of it isn’t true, he’s definitely much more than he gives himself credit for. I just thought it was nice to see him have such an interesting dilemma because it’s just volleyball at the end of the day, but it’s his passion and he wasn’t sure or not if he should pursue it because he didn’t feel like he was good enough to, and that’s a pretty real world everyday kind of problem that also makes his story kind of emotional when you think about it. I feel like he’s very well written and serves as someone you could relate you in your weaknesses and insecurities, but some people take the one scene where he almost hit Kageyama too seriously. Like okay? In middle school this one guy stole my fries and I smacked him right in the face. It’s not that big of a deal, I wasn’t canceled was I? Calm down ppl 💀 anyway stan oikawa for clear skin ✌🏼 that’s the lesson to be learned
