     𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚  𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐧'𝐭  𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲  𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝  𝐡𝐢𝐦  𝐭𝐨  𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐤  𝐮𝐩  𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧  𝐬𝐡𝐞  𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝,     he  had  been  avoiding  her  calls  or  lying  to  her  whenever  he  did  pick  up  the  phone.     it  hadn't  taken  her  long  to  figure  out  why  he  was  avoiding  her     -     he  knew  the  truth.     she  didn't  know  how  exactly,  she  thought  she  had  done  a  pretty  good  job  at  covering  up  her  secret,  she  didn't  want  or  need  everyone  knowing  the  truth  about  her.     but  maybe  she  should've  told  hughie  the  truth,  especially  once  she  felt  like  she  could  trust  him.     yet  how  do  you  tell  the  nicest  and  sweetest  person  you've  ever  met  that  you  are     𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞     for  so  many  deaths?     it  wasn't  exactly  a  conversation  she  wanted  to  have,  but  maybe  things  would've  been  better  if  she  had  been  honest.     maybe  he  wouldn't  be  avoiding  her.     maybe  she  wouldn't  be  making  threats  to  someone  who  she  considered  a  friend  to  keep  her  secret.     maybe  she  wouldn't  have  gotten  a  phonecall  to  tell  her  that  hughie  was  taking  an  experimental  drug  from  vought  that  made  a  supe  for  a  day.     this  whiole  situation  was  a  fucking  mess  and  she  hated  that  she  played  a  part  in  it.

     𝐧𝐨𝐭  𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭  𝐬𝐡𝐞  𝐡𝐚𝐝  𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧  𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧  𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦  𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞,     especially  after  she  threatened  her,  but  clearly  she  had  exhausted  all  over  options  to  stop  hughie  from  doing  something  dangerous  and  she  had  no  other  options.     victoria  was  grateful  that  even  with  everything  going  on,  annie  still  called  her,  even  if  she  felt  like  it  was     𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐲     that  hughie  would  even  pick  up  if  she  called.     but  she  would  never  forgive  herself  if  she  didn't  try,  especially  if  hughie  hadn't  gotten  himself  into  something  dangerous  that  could  get  him  killed.     it  would  be  so  easy  to  blame  butcher  for  all  of  this,  for  pulling  hughie  into  something  that  he  probably  wouldn't  be  able  to  get  himself  out  of,  but  she  also  knew  that  if  she  had  been  honest  with  him,  then  maybe  he  wouldn't  be  doing  this.     how  did  things  get  so  fucking  twisted?     couldn't  they  just  go  back  to  working  together,  shamelesly  flirting  with  each  other  and  falling  in  love?

     "     𝐡𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐢𝐞?  𝐢  𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭  𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞  𝐲𝐨𝐮  𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲  𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝  𝐮𝐩,     "     victoria  stated,  unable  to  hide  her  surprise  that  he  actually  answered  her  call,  but  she  was  so  relieved  to  hear  his  voice.     even  if  she  could  tell  that  he  was  still  mad  at  her,  at  least  he  answered.     maybe  there  was     𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞     after  all.     shaking  her  head,  tucking  dark  hair  behind  her  ear  as  she  let  out  a  soft  sigh,  unsure  of  where  to  start  and  she  knew  that  apologising  was  probably  where  she  should  but  it  wasn't  the  first  thing  she  said,     "     temp  v  is  dangerous.     if  you  keep  taking  it,  it  could  kill  you.     three  to  five  doses  can  have  deadly  side  effects,     "     she  didn't  even  give  him  a  chance  to  say  anything  before  repeating  everything  annie  had  told  her  about  temp  v,  which  she  stil  couldn't  believe  hughie  had  been  willingly  taken.     but  then  she  was  in  no  room  to  judge  since  she  had  willingly  given  her  own  daughter  compound  v,     "     whatever  you're  doing  with  butcher,  you  need  to  stop.     just  tell  me  where  you  are  and  i'll  come  get  you,     "
