Bruce: “Has anybody here had any contact with Jason in the last five months?”

Steph, who has been exchanging rants about their favorite shows with him daily and is currenly typing a new one: “…No.”

Rose (texting Jason): Remember when you sleep with a damaged man that's not daddy issues, that's finding your better half. Raven (Rachel): The damaged man you have was revived from the dead. Rose: Yeah and I cut my eye out to prove my worth to my father unaware he was brainwashing me. He's told me a couple things about his history, my better half. Raven rolls her eyes with a smile. Rose: Not all of us want a green guy who changes into a cat when asking for- Beast Boy (Garfield): Hey, hey, hey, Rachel that was meant to be private! Raven: Garf, it fell into our conversation. Just don't tell Nightwing we know they're... what the hell are you two? Rose stops texting to think of the right word and then smiles. Rose: Partners in crime. Raven (sucking her teeth): Tsk, he's sucking the cool from you. Beast Boy (mumbling): I kind of like Jason. I won't tell Dick though. He thinks you guys freaking hate each other. Rose: That's what we want- Rachel shush. Raven closes her mouth before saying a good insult.

do you dislike jason todd because his existence calls into question the sincerity and efficacy of batman’s cause and that is difficult or frustrating for you or because his character gets to have high stakes emotional moments that connect with readers to an extent that your fave can’t dream of and you are jealous?

Jason Todd fic idea:

I'd fucking kill for a fic that analyzes perception surrounding Jason's Robin (canon or not).

In the beginning, he's a kid. He's a fine Robin, but he's a kid. He'll do stupid shit a kid does, and he'll always try to help others. He's kind and snarky and defensive and angry and gentle. He struggles with his past, but he wants to do good. He DOES do good. He tries.

His death is tragic, but he died trying to help his mom. His intentions were good. He didn't succeed but that's not his fault.

And then Bruce refuses to grieve.

Alfred compares Robin to a soldier.

Bruce internalizes that and victim-blames Jason. He uses him as a cautionary tale until the rest of the family's memories are warped into seeing an angry, impulsive, stupid Robin. They start blaming him too and look down on his Robin.

Jason comes back and is mentally fucked up from all the shit he's been through. He sees nothing has changed. He sees another Robin. He sees his death as unimportant.

And then Bruce starts spitting out what a failure Jason is to Jason's face. Jason lashes out but internalizes it.

Everyone accepts/believes this conception of Jason's Robin.

Memories become altered where the exact same event appears different when they are telling it again:

Ones where Jason was valiantly saving Gothamites? Robin was being to snippy at victims

Robin stopped a goon from shooting someone? He was being too risky

He was trying to save his mom? He wasn't following orders

Or something something Jason's time as Robin is memorialized differently from reality to the point nobody remembers the truth. This thus affects how everyone sees Jason, including himself.

Dick and Jason made a pact to back each other unequivocally around Bruce (there are limits on the unconditional support are very clearly outlined, with Dick refusing murder and Jason refusing to support the Discowing-revival). It's still extremely satisfying to see Bruce get annoyed when both of his eldest sons stand their ground, but occasionally they're deeply aggravated because the other invoked the pact for something they think is the stupidest molehill nobody's ever thought of dying on.

So Dick will be standing at Jason's back as he rants, making his position clear to Bruce but live texting Donna the entire time, mortified at what he's currently involved in.

No marriage required.

Damian: English is a difficult language.

Dick: It can be understood through tough thorough thought, though!

Damian: You need to stop.

“J’onn hates being around Batman because of his mind” Wrong. J’onn craves the moments he has to spend in Batman’s presence because Bruce Wayne is somehow the only person on the Watchtower, save maybe Victor, who can consistently keep his thoughts at an “inside” level.

Damian walks up for the first time in his brand new school , his teacher by his side, he watches the other children playing. They run after each other and grab shoulders and arms.

"ADOPTED !" Yells one boy.

Quite suprised, Damian asks:

"What are they playing ?"

The teacher cringes hard but finds no good way to say it.

"Ehm....Bruce Wayne and the orphans...?"

I’d like to clear up some common misconceptions about the Attack on Titan Tower, aka when Jason infiltrated it to attack Tim

1) Jason did not go there to attempt to kill Tim

Jason seems to have 3 separate goals for this: - size up the new kid. - make sure he knows Bruce just sees him as another soldier - prove to Tim just how dangerous the job is (In my opinion, this is implied) He also voiced his anger over being forgotten by everyone. Depending on your interpretation of Jason and his character, this could also be a reason. To me, this feels more like an afterthought because they moved to the Hall of Fallen Heroes before he said this, and Jason likes to be dramatic.

Side note on this. Jason never says anything about being replaced.

2) none of Tim’s injuries were life threatening

Once again, Jason was not attempting to kill him. He beat him up pretty badly, but it was designed to prove a point

3) Jason did NOT cut Tim’s throat.

That happened during Hush which predates both Under the Red Hood and Titan’s Tower. Jason was pretending to be Hush, put a knife to Tim’s throat, and put enough pressure to make him bleed (it was not an actual slice) to get Bruce to react to him. That injury was not life threatening either

4) Jason developed a respect and a bit of envy for Tim after fighting him

At the end of the issue while he’s leaving (while outside the tower), Jason acknowledges Tim’s skill. Jason also wonders if he could have had a life more similar to his, where he had friends and a better support system, if he could have had a different life.

5) Tim was NOT a damsel in distress during the fight, and he did NOT develop a fear of Jason.

Tim was making quips and dissing Jason the entire fight. Tim was not afraid of him nor did he bat an eye at being attacked by Jason. He also vocalized just how much he had to work for his cape because of how Jason's death affected Bruce

Also, the next time Tim saw Jason after this, he made sure to kick Jason in the groin

6) Jason wrote "Jason Todd was here" and signed it with a hand print on the wall.

It looks like it could be in blood, but Tim's not injured enough for there to be that much... and blood darkens after a while. There's a bit of time between Tim getting knocked out and the rest of the Titans finding him and the writing so it's probably paint. Again, Jason likes to be dramatic

7) more Robin!Jason slander by Raven

Once again, we get the mention that Jason was "aggressive". I swear, this is the only thing writers remember from Death in the Family and not the point that that behavior was out of the ordinary for Jason. This is a personal pet peeve of mine in the comics.

Like this man has been reading romance novels for as long as he can remember and he absolutely refuses to let this set up go to waste. He has a strange new world, a kind but powerful king, a castle, and big ass fucking library right there.

Another reason why I’m a firm believer in letting Bruce get old is because the idea of him looking and his dark haired children without his glasses on and genuinely not being able to tell them apart is unparalleled

But Jason's tattoo is my version of the League of Assassins' symbol! (Btw if noone somehow didn't know yes all my designs usually go into my own version of the batfamily) He obviously got it back during his time in the League. Taila has her tattoo on the same side as Jason! But added details along her arm :P

Duke is my current Robin in my version! He was just adopted, he wasnt adopted with him being Robin in mind, but after his powers developed and he found out about Bruce being Batman, he started going out ON HIS OWN as a make-shift Robin :)

Eventually Batman found out and he ended up asking Grayson to train Duke and gave him a proper suit.

And if you're wondering!!! Damian is PROHIBITED from being Robin. He can't convince Bruce or anyone else in the family. So, he simply has become a total nerd about Duke's Robin, thinking Duke is a genuinely good Robin, but he'd never say that out loud.

Being raised an assassins, he actually finds using no violence for incapacitating criminals is impressive.
