Previous Chapter - Next Chapter

Chapter 2: A potion for disaster.

Park Jimin being inside your small apartment, comes close to meeting a Hollywood star or a high fashion model in the greasy little McDonaldâs, placed next to your local train station - It just simply doesnât match.
He looks so out of place here, and you cannot help but be ashamed of everything you own and are when you see how awkward he looks sitting on your old sofa, under which you sneakily shoved a pile of dirty laundry a couple minutes ago when he wasnât looking.Â
He hasn't told you why he's here yet. Ever since your awkward greeting at the door when you told him he probably had the wrong address, he's been oddly quiet. He only shook his head and assured you that it was indeed you who he wanted to see.Â
So here you are now, sitting next to each other, an untouched glass of water standing in front of each of you.Â
You clear your throat again for the hundredth time ever since he arrived, wiping your sweaty hands on your pants as you wait for him to finally say something, although he seems too occupied with scanning your apartment.
âNice place you got here,â his voice suddenly rings out, sounding much quieter than you would have expected.Â
As far as you know, he's usually someone who stands out as soon as he enters a room.Â
Loud, confident, prominent, and handsome. That's how people describe Park Jimin.
Now, however, he seems different. Donât misunderstand; he still radiates a certain amount of confidence (if not arrogance), and he still seems to spend more money on his appearance than your entire closet is worth, but thereâs something else now. There' a certain indifference in his demeanor that you never noticed before.
You wonder if he has always been like this or if getting screwed over by his best friend and girlfriend actually did throw him off track.Â
âThank you.â
He lied of course. Someone like Park Jimin does not think of your apartment as a ânice placeâ for sure. Not even you would call it that, but what's the point of debunking his obvious lie in the spirit of civility, huh?
âItâs small, but itâs better than living in the dorms, I guess. At least for me.â
Jimin only nods, offering you a smile that looks somewhat friendly but also a little forced.Â
âUhm, so⌠I came here for a reason,â he finally starts, as he looks at you insistently.
âWell, yea. I figured,â you chuckle awkwardly, nervous for whatâs about to come.Â
You have no idea what to expect from him because itâs not like thereâs any reason you could think of that would make sense for him to be here. Youâve never held a conversation with him before, and you donât even think heâs ever really noticed you, so what could he want now that heâd even make the effort to find out where you live and come visit you in your apartment?
âThere is something I would like to ask you for,â he says, leaning a bit forward in his seat. âWell, not exactly that - we would both benefit from it, Iâm sure.âÂ
This, and the little smirk thatâs starting to form on his lips, are enough for you to see what heâs getting at, and itâs not like you expected anything really, but youâre still disappointed.Â
Standing up with one quick movement, you frown down on him in annoyance.Â
âIâm sorry, but Iâm afraid Iâm not the right one for that matter,â you snap. âIf youâre this desperate, I suggest you attend a frat party or whatever.âÂ
Jimin looks confused for a moment, big eyes staring into yours. âI havenât even said anything yet.â
âYou donât need to. You think you're the first person to make me an offer like that?â You scoff. âIt's bad enough that I can't even go to college in peace, but to come to my home and harass me here too? Fucking ridiculous.âÂ
Jimin finally seems to understand, immediately standing up as well while holdings his hands up in surrender. âNo, no, no, I think you misunderstood!â He exclaims, gaping at you. âI didnât come here for a booty call, Jesus Christ. Do you really think I need it that much?â He starts to laugh arrogantly, immediately going from looking like an innocent boy to a huge douchebag, whereas you slowly feel the embarrassment rise up inside you.Â
âDarling, sorry to break it to you, but I really donât need you for that. Or do you think youâre that exclusive?âÂ
You have to admit that he did make you feel exceptionally stupid just now because, of course, thatâs not what he wanted. It is very obvious that he doesnât need you for that, given how he allegedly hasnât spent very many nights alone ever since he broke up with Yeji.
And anyway, youâre sure you donât even come close to his usual taste.
âOf course not. Iâm sorry,â you apologize, trying to cover your embarrassment with an uneasy smile. âItâs just that I donât even know you, and now youâre randomly knocking on my door with flowers in your hand and a very awkward way of explaining,â you cut yourself off, noticing that youâre about to ramble.Â
Youâre surprised to see, that Jimin does not look mad or offended. Instead, heâs sporting a wide smile as he looks at you with his arm crossed in front of his chest, probably amused by your incompetence when it comes to talking to other people.Â
Itâs not your fault, okay? This is what being secluded does with someone. Youâre the perfect proof of that. Â
âPeople donât usually talk to me unless itâs about that,â you state, tearing your eyes from his.Â
âRight.â Jimin clears his throat, uneasiness overcoming him now as well. âThatâs actually part of my plan,â he then says. âYou know, the one I was going to tell you about before you so rudely interrupted me.â
Heâs joking, making the atmosphere a little less awkward for once, and youâre grateful for that. Jimin only makes a small gesture with his hand to silently tell you to sit down again, and you oblige, patiently waiting for him to say whatever it is thatâs on his mind.Â
âI won't beat around the bush for long. I have an issue, and I need your help with it,â he repeats, folding his hands over his knee as if heâs having a business meeting right now. You think it looks funny, but donât comment on it since he seems so serious right now.Â
âI need you to be my girlfriend for a while.âÂ

You have been sitting here, just staring at him while he talks and talks and talks.
You don't know what he's telling you because you stopped listening after he said he needed you to be his girlfriend. The only way you can tell that heâs talking is because his lips are moving, but your ears are completely closed off at this point.Â
Youâre being pranked.Â
Itâs so obvious by now. Spreading rumors has started to become too boring, so now theyâre taking it to another level which is making you participate in things that will subsequently humiliate you.Â
That has to be it, right?Â
You cracked the code.
But man, heâs looking so damn serious.Â
Is he serious?!
âPark Jimin, are you on drugs?âÂ
It leaves your mouth like a gunshot, interrupting his well-prepared speech without any care as you muster him, one brow cocked while youâre keen on trying to figure him out.
He ogles at you with his big eyes, looking like a deer caught in a headlight for just a second before his expression turns into a deep frown. âWhaâ No!â
âWell, neither am I.â you display. âSo you can absolutely trust me when I tell you, that I, with utmost respect, will definitely not pretend to be your girlfriend,â you state, not finding this whole act funny in the slightest.Â
âWhat good would that even do? I mean, what are you trying to accomplish with that? Because I can promise you, it would end up in a disaster for sure.â
Jimin sighs, running his fingers through his former perfectly styled blonde hair as he takes a moment to think. About what, you donât know, but heâs definitely conflicted.Â
âIf this is you, pulling a prank on me, this is really not funny,â you say, noticing he hasn't said anything for a while. âAnd if this is you being serious, well⌠then I guess youâre crazy.â
âI am,â he voices, looking up at you again. âItâs one of my weaker points. I donât have many, but thatâs probably the one I really canât deny.âÂ
And suddenly, heâs back, smirking at you with that cocky look in his eyes that shows you he knows exactly what heâs doing. He probably thought about it for a very long time, planned everything, and will not accept a simple no from you.Â
You know guys like him. The ones who think they always get what they want and they usually do, but this time he wonât. Not today, pal. The last thing you need right now is to get involved in yet another drama that originally was none of your business.
âIs this some type of joke to you? Some weird, toxic way to try and get your girlfriend back?â You find yourself asking, wondering about what this is actually about.
He doesnât directly give you an answer. Instead, he decides to bypass the question with a stoic look on his handsome face. âI just need a girlfriend,â he says. âListen, you will not understand, but I cannot stay single while they are dating each other now without a fucking care in the world. As if it were completely legitimate!â He suddenly goes off, banging his fist on the small coffee table when the frustration comes through.Â
âSo itâs an image thing then? Thatâs what youâre doing this for?â You canât help but snort, even if you know itâs not the right time. Not when heâs so obviously mad. âIâm sorry, but Iâm probably the worst option in that case,â you say, leaning back in your seat as you still look at him comically.Â
âBeing seen with me is something people usually try to avoid when they care about their image.â Involuntarily, your voice softens towards the end as you realize that this is indeed your reality now.
You can play the tough girl all you want and tell yourself that you don't need anyone but yourself, but in the end, this is anything but the life you pictured for yourself. This is not what you were excited about when you couldn't wait to start college.
Jimin doesn't seem to notice your brief moment of melancholy any further, as he groans and shakes his head, clearly not sharing your opinion on the matter (nor interested in your little sob story).
âDonât worry about me, darling. I can surely take it,â he says, still giving you this unnerving smile youâd like to slap off his stupid face. âIâm the most popular guy on campus. It takes more than dating you to change that.â
Youâre baffled by how careless he seems. You didnât expect him to pity you - God no, youâd hate that actually, but you would at least expect him to take your concerns into account and not just brush them off like that.Â
You donât even think he noticed anything you just said that didn't involve him.
Sighing, you take a moment to think about where to go from this. It really looks like he has an answer for everything, and he seems very determined to go through with this.... plan of his.Â
âWhy me?â You then ask, wanting to know the reason he chose you for this crazy idea.Â
You donât know each other, you donât like each other it seems, and in general, you have absolutely nothing to do with each other, except for this drama you were unwillingly dragged into.Â
âYou could find someone better than me in less than a minute, and you wouldnât even have to convince them, Iâm sure. Someone in your league, with a better reputation who wonât damage your image,â you reason, trying to make him leave you alone once and for all. âIt doesn't have to be me.â
âIt does, though.â Jiminâs throwback comes immediately as his eyes almost burn a hole into your skull from their intense look. âIt has to be you for those exact reasons.â
Noticing you donât understand a thing, Jimin leans forward again with his knee almost touching yours at this point.Â
âI canât just take a random girl because the risk of someone finding out is way too high. But thatâs just one of many reasons, actually. Yeji knows so many people, and Taehyung knows another huge portion. I need someone who doesnât know anyone they know and someone who wouldnât spill the beans just for some gossip. Someone whoâs in it just as much as I am and who I can trust to keep it a secret,â he explains. âYou think they wouldnât figure it out in an instant if I'd just take anyone?â He grins, looking kinda mischievous now. âBut if itâs youââ
ââno one will ask questions,â you quietly conclude, having experienced it way too many times by now. âThey will just think you were looking for an easy distraction.â
It hurts, having to admit that heâs right, but you quickly try to brush it off when you look up from your hands on your lap and mask a smile onto your face. âSmart.â
This is the first time Jimin notices that the whole thing does not simply pass you by; that this is your life youâre talking about, and he suddenly starts to feel bad. He hasnât even thought about that before. The way you just worded that⌠makes him feel like a total douche. He didnât think about it that way before, but now that you spoke it out loud, he realizes this is exactly what people will think.
âLook,â he sighs, clearing his throat. âYou will benefit from this too. Getting involved with me will be good for you.â
âHow exactly?â You scoff, not believing a word he says.Â
âWell, for starters, no one talks shit about Park Jiminâs girlfriend. Thatâs for sure.âÂ
You roll your eyes, shaking your head in disbelief. How can someone actually be this pretentious? You do feel bad about having to leave him hanging since he really seems to want this, but having to look out for yourself comes first.Â
âYou donât get it, do you?â You scoff. âYou really think they will stop talking shit about me just because youâre so amazing and loved by everyone? Well, I have news for you, they wonât. If anything, Iâll just be a giant laughingstock for the whole college once again, because I was stupid enough to be Park Jiminâs rebound. I would look so stupid.âÂ
Staying persistent, Jimin shakes his head again as he deeply stares at you. âYou underestimate me there. I have far more influence than you think. And I will make them see that youâre more than just my rebound. That youâre someone I actually wanna be with, someone I care about.â
Tearing your eyes from his intense gaze, you shake your head again. âYou might be the most popular guy on campus, Jimin, but as of now, I am the most hated.â The realization once again hits you. Itâs not like you werenât aware of all of this before, but speaking it out loud hits a little differently. And it adds a good additional portion of reality to this whole chaos you call your life.Â
Most hated person. DamnâŚ
âThese two extremes donât go together. It will not end up the way you want it to, whatever that may be. Trust me,â you finally sigh, looking apologetically when his face instantly falls. âThatâs like a potion for disaster.â
With a sigh, Jimin scratches the back of his head, clearly thinking about ways to persuade you into giving in because it doesnât look like youâre going to. Â
He knew it would be hard to convince you, but youâre even more persistent than he thought.Â
â___, you have my word on this. I will help you if you help me. I promise,â he says, looking at you with a little pout starting to form on his lips.Â
Oh no. Heâs not trying this now, is he? Who does he think you are?
âAll of this trouble to save your face in front of people who treated you like an idiot? To save your ego? To win back the girl who broke your heart in the most awful way possible?â You ask again, not sure whether to find him ridiculous or pitiful.Â
You do know the feeling of wanting to get back at people but in his case, it will only make things worse by a dozen.Â
âNo, that's not it. That's notâ Ugh, whatever you wouldnât get it,â he snaps again, getting defensive real fast. âItâs fine, though, you clearly donât wanna do it.â He suddenly gets up from his seat, appearing to have had enough with you.Â
You look after him, feeling dumbfounded and wondering why heâs suddenly getting so defensive.Â
Jimin turns around one last time to look at you, still sitting at the same spot he left you. His eyes show something besides anger this time. Something he's obviously trying to hide, but you still clearly see it.Â
Desperation.
âI just think itâs a shame, really. I offer you a chance to finally defend yourself against all the accusations that are constantly thrown your way. With me by your side, you at least have a voice that will be heard. You can show them that you arenât the person they make you out to be, and you wouldnât be alone. But hey, if you prefer to hole up in here instead and stay by yourself, I won't stop you.â
Hereâs the thing: His words shouldnât fathom you. They shouldnât.Â
You donât owe him, you donât even know him, and at the end of the day, heâs only in it for his own good, even if he tries to make you think you could profit from this too - itâs not his priority.Â
He doesnât care about you or your reputation or whatever this could do to you. It's so obvious he's trying everything right now to make you agree. Even if it means sinking so low and making you feel like all of this is your fault just because you're not trying hard enough to change it.
This is the only truth, and there is no doubt about that.
I mean, he literally just confessed he only needs you to do the job because youâre already the campus slut in everyoneâs eyes, hence making it easier for him to make them believe his lie without regard for you or what it might do to you.
But for some reason, you still donât want to leave him hanging. He really seems to want this, need this almost, and it makes you want to at least think about it a little more.
And if he really is rightâŚ
If there is actually a chance to show yourself in a different light, to show everyone who you really are -
Shouldn't you at least try?
You like to imagine that it cannot get worse than this anyway.
âWhat are the rules?â You sigh, keeping your head straight forward, but you still hear him halt immediately.Â
âWhat?â
âThe rules, Park,â you groan, finally turning around in your seat to look at him with an annoyed expression on your face. âIf weâre going to pull this off, weâll need some guidelines, donât you think?â
You try to ignore how his face lights up, making his eyes almost disappear, but you can barely suppress a smile from the sight. He may be obnoxious and annoying, but that was a little cute.Â
âSo youâre willing to do it?â
âIâm willing to think about it,â you correct him, watching his every move as he sits back down next to you.Â
âOkay!â He exclaims. âOkay, thatâs great! Thatâsâ I can work with that,â he beams. âWhat do you need to be specified?â
âWell, first of all, I need to know what kind of relationship are we having? I mean, what kind of couple do you imagine us to be? Are you the overly affectionate type, or is it okay if we just⌠say weâre a couple and go to places together?â You ask, regretting your words the second you notice the smirk that's starting to form on his lips.Â
âI see. You want to know if youâre allowed to make out with me.â Leaning back in his seat, he rests one arm on the back of the sofa and uses his other to rake through his hair.
You donât know what heâs trying to do. Is he trying to look sexy? âCause excuse me Sir, but it's hard not to cringeâŚ
âYou can have me all you want, babygirl. Once this deal is sealed, Iâm all yours. In every way, if you want.â He winks, remaining in this position.
Youâre trying not to gag, already regretting even thinking about doing it, but honestly, your life started to be the epitome of loneliness and boredom, and that would at least bring you together with other people for a bit. Maybe it would allow you to live a somewhat normal college life with parties and activities and⌠dates.Â
Even if itâd all be a lie in the end.Â
âSee, this is exactly why we need those rules because I never ever want you to call me that horrible pet name ever again.â You say, cringing just from imagining someone calling you that.Â
Jimin laughs loudly, making his eyes turn into two little half-moons. âYou donât like it?â
âNo,â you immediately decline while you keep a straight face. âWho actually does? Makes me feel like Iâm part of a soft porn that was shot some time in the eighties.â You mutter.Â
Sporting a grin, Jimin bites his lips as he taps his finger on his leg, thinking about something it seems. âWhat about honey?â
âEw.â
âDarling?â
âWeâre not faking a marriage, Park.â
âBabe?â
âSo original.â
Sighing loudly, Jimin leans forward again, resting his head on his balled-up fists as he pouts, making him look more like a young boy than the college boy he actually is.
âWhat else am I supposed to call you then?â He sighs.Â
âJust call me ___. Itâs my name. It suits me,â you shrug, ready to check this topic off to get to the more important one. Like the original one, he still hasnât answered. Ignoring his unpleased frown and the pout on his lips, you repeat your earlier question, wanting to finish this off as soon as possible.Â
Jimin, however, makes it hard for you, refusing to just simply answer straightforwardly.Â
âWhy do we have to plan this? Itâll look forced if we plan everything beforehand. I want us to be natural like a real couple would b so nobody will get suspicious,â he expresses his irritation with a slight groan. âIâm sure we will have to kiss at some point. I donât usually shy away from PDA, so my friends will think itâs weird if weâre being unnecessarily distant with each other.â
Great, just what you feared.Â
Not that Park Jimin is someone you wouldnât want to kiss at all - no. Even if youâre not actually attracted to him mostly caused by his personality and his stuck-up behavior, Jimin is easily one of the most handsome guys in your college and thereâs no denying that.Â
Still, youâre not keen on making out with him, especially in front of all his friends who will most definitely take a close look at you and analyze your every move. How embarrassing.Â
Noticing your skeptical expression, Jimin just silently grins to himself. âYou donât have to act this way. You know youâre going to love it.âÂ
âHey, I havenât agreed to anything yet, and it's out of pure decency that I'm giving you the chance to somehow convince me that by doing this, I am not destroying my life even further. If I were you, I would stop pushing my luck.âÂ
Jimin only chuckles, probably regaining his confidence just from sensing that you are not as dismissive as you were in the beginning.Â
âHm, I donât know. I feel like youâre suddenly not so against it,â he sneers, confirming your guess. Â
You can feel your blood rushing to your face, but you try to at least not let him see that heâs making you flustered. It doesnât happen for the reason he thinks anyway, but rather because he makes you uncomfortable with his constant sexual innuendos.Â
âTrust me, itâs not for the things you have in mind,â you scoff. âYou don't seem to have realized it yet, but you're not every girl's wet dream, Jimin. At least you arenât mine.âÂ
Looking unfazed by your comment, he raises his brows, still smirking at you in a testing manner.Â
âNo? So what youâre saying is, if you could date any guy you wanted, it wouldnât be me?â He asks, obviously already expecting a certain answer.Â
Now, this is the moment when all the embarrassment suddenly evaporates, and you burst into laughter for the first time ever since Jimin arrived at your door. And it immediately wipes his stupid cocky grin off his face.Â
âOne-tenth of your self-esteem, Park Jimin. Thatâs all Iâd need, and it would be over for all those bitches who are treating me like shit,â you laugh, even going as far as wiping a tear from the corner of your eye.
Jimin looks baffled for a moment but quickly regains his composure, this time with a frown appearing between his eyes. âGo on then. Who would it be if not me?â
You calm down again, clearing your throat a few times to get your voice under control before you give him an answer. âWell, unfortunately, I gave up on the concept of dating a long time ago,â you say. âBut if you really want an answer, Iâd unquestionably take Jeon Jungkook,â you voice, not having to think about your answer in the slightest.Â
This time, Jimin is the one who laughs, mixing it with an offensive scoff and a way too exaggerated eye-roll. âOf course. Fucking Jeon.â
âYou have something against him?âÂ
âNo, but I should have guessed it. It's the most basic answer, and donât you guys have this on/off thing going on anyway?â He scoffs, not even looking at you anymore.Â
âNo,â you sigh, you haven't thought about what your comment could trigger, but now youâre feeling bad for Jungkook. âWe never had. Thatâs just another stupid rumor.âÂ
Jimin gives you a testing look, arching a brow while nibbling on his bottom lip. âAre you sure? Apparently, youâre always hanging out together, and you just said you want to date him.â
âI did not say I want to date him!â You claim, gaping at him. âI said that if I had to date someone, I would choose him. But that does not mean I want to. Trust me, I have lost all interest in wanting to date. And Jeon and I donât hang out. He just happens to be the only living creature on campus that doesnât treat me like crap or air.â
Itâs true. Jungkook and you can in no way be considered even friends, but he is the only person that hasnât abandoned you yet and does still talk to you from time to time, not caring at all about the rumors he, unfortunately, started being a part of.Â
You always admired him for that.Â
The sheer confidence he carries. Just doing what he likes, looking the way he wants, and talking to people he wants to talk to, without giving a fuck about what anybody could say about that or think about him.Â
He just does whatever he wants, and you think that alone makes him the coolest person you ever met.Â
But thatâs all you have for him. Admiration.Â
Admiration and... maybe a little bit of envy.
Because Jungkook can do whatever he wants, say whatever he wants, and sleep with whoever he wants and nobody cares. Everyone still likes him at the end of the day because he admittedly is a very likable person.Â
And yet, he doesnât even care.Â
He has all that without even wanting it. He still prefers to spend his time by himself, not caring if someone keeps him company or not.Â
Whenever you see him, he is usually alone, and yet he always looks content. Always sporting a smile on his attractive face.
More than once have you looked at him and wished you could be like that. So carefree and content, alone, but not lonely.Â
âHeâs not perfect either,â Jiminâs unfazed voice pulls you out of your thoughts. âHe has fucked half the campus already.âÂ
âWho cares about who he has or hasnât slept with?â You snap, feeling your hands ball into fists. âHeâs a good person. Thatâs all that matters, isnât it? And anyway, just because people proclaim these things about him doesnât mean it has to be the truth.â
You realize youâre only getting this protective because youâre starting to relate to yourself. You transfer what Jimin says about Jungkook to what everyone says about you. But you donât care.Â
Rumors are shit. And Jimin should know better than that.
An expression of realization crosses his face for a split second before he clears his throat and nods his head once, looking guilty. âRight. Iâm sorry, I didnât mean it like that. I donât care about him anyway...â
âGood. Then we can come to the next point,â you decide, happily skipping the topic of Jungkook as soon as possible. âWhat exactly is it that I would have to do?â
âWell, I guess we will go to a couple of parties together. You know, some birthdays, go on dates, hang out with friends, Iâll spam my Instagram with photos of you⌠just the usual stuff, you know? Everything that comes with having a partner.â Jimin simply explains.
You nod. Thatâs more or less what you expected, but it still sounds like a lot. LikeâŚÂ a lot.Â
It's definitely going to be a transition from spending days at a time on your sofa with Netflix, to constantly hanging out with Jimin and his friends, doing God knows what.
âSo⌠Is it settled then? Are we doing it?âÂ
You donât answer right away, though you have to admit that you are at least a little interested in giving in. Thereâs just something very exciting about the idea of fake-dating someone, even if you canât deny the little voice in the back of your head telling you thereâs only one between the two of you who will benefit from it. And it wonât be you - thatâs for sure.
â___,âÂ
Jiminâs voice sounds soft when he calls your name, making you look at him.
His eyes are solely fixed on you, and you actually feel like this is the first time heâs genuinely looking at you instead of looking through you.Â
âDo you trust me?â
You scoff. âOf course not, no!â you instantly shake your head while frowning at him. âI donât even know you,â you quickly add, raising your voice just a little. âHow can you ask me that?â
With a frown knitted between his brows, Jimin still has his eyes fixed on you. âFair, I guess, but I hope that will change soon. And I promise you, you will not regret it if you trust me now. I will always make sure that you are fine, and if all hell really should break loose, you can stop at any time, and I won't be mad. Just please... please let us do this together. âÂ
He shoots you a little smile (an actual smile this time, not a smirk), and you sigh defeatedly.Â
Thatâs the thing with people like him.Â
They do always get what they want.
âAlright, whatever. Letâs do this.â Your voice is quiet, unsure, but it still holds some kind of determination to it.Â
Maybe heâs right.Â
Maybe you can pull it off.Â
Maybe it wonât end up in a disaster. JustâŚÂ maybe.
Maybe you can change something.
Jimin looks insanely relieved the moment your answer reaches his ears. Sighing in relief, he lowers his head for a brief moment, only to raise it again with full force and give you the widest smile you've ever seen on anyone.
âThank you so much, ___. Really. You wonât regret it.âÂ
You swear if he says that one more time, heâs definitely going to jinx it. If it hasnât happened already.
âUhm⌠so, should I walk you to class, maybe?â Jimin then asks, standing up and reaching his hand out to help you up as well, already getting into his role, it seems.
âOh no,â you halt for a moment, thinking about a way to explain your situation. âIâmâ Uh⌠Iâm not really going to class,â you chuckle uncomfortably, noticing how he looks at you in confusion. âIâm taking mostly online classes this semester. Things just are a little⌠overwhelming right now.âÂ
You desperately hope he wonât dig any further. And the chances are practically high, considering he only ever really seems to care about himself.
This time, you arenât so lucky, though, when a look of realization crosses his face for just a moment before he frowns down to his feet.
âAre people still giving you that much of a hard time?â
You swallow hard and clear your throat. You didnât expect him to ask you that, and even if you somewhat appreciate the effort, you donât want to discuss this with him.
âIt has calmed down a bit, butâŚâ you just shrug, still embarrassed, not knowing what to say that will make this moment pass sooner.Â
âIâm sorry he did that to you, ___.â Jimin unexpectedly sounds very regretful when these words come over his lips, eyes staring into yours.Â
âHe had no right to do that to you. You shouldnât have been pulled into his mess. Really, Iâm ashamed on his behalf.âÂ
It takes a moment for you to grasp what he just said because, for you, it came very surprisingly. Honestly, you wouldn't have given Park Jimin that much credit.Â
But that is also a reason why you are happy to hear that from him. It's the first time anyone has ever apologized to you and although it's not him who should be asking for your forgiveness, it's good to hear that someone is on your side for a change.
âOh, itâs okay,â you breathe, suddenly feeling very overwhelmed with how different he seems. âI wasnât well liked before that anyway, so⌠itâs whatever.â
You try to smile, but it doesnât look real at all. And it isnât. Itâs not okay, of course, but what can you do really? Playing the victim and drowning in self-pity wonât help your case either.
It is what it is.
âHeâs not the first person who did that to me, and he certainly wonât be the last,â you shrug. âThe only thing that makes him different from all the others is that heâs way more known,â you explain.
âItâs really not okay.â Jimin disagrees, sounding more serious than he has the whole time heâs been here. âAnd trust me, he will be the last. Iâll make sure of it. I promise you that.â
âAh well⌠people just like to trash talk. Itâs what brings them joy when their own lives are too boring,â you say, simply repeating what Nayeon always used to tell you⌠before she started being one of those people.Â
Trying to shake the thought of her from your mind, you try to plaster another fake smile on your lips before you look up at him again. âIâm used to it by now. Itâs okay, really.â
Jimin doesnât look satisfied with your answer, but to your luck, he doesnât dwell on it any longer. Instead, he just takes a look at his watch (that looks like it costs more than your laptop) and starts to cuss under his breath, mumbling something about being late.Â
âAlright, I gotta go now. Youâre still coming to our Thursday class, right?â He quickly makes sure, waiting for you to approve. âGreat, we will start with our a little game then,â he smirks, already turning around. âTake care until then. I canât wait!âÂ
And with that, heâs gone.Â
Which finally leaves you to be alone.Â
Alone with your thoughts.
Holy shit, youâre actually doing this.

Chapter 7 is here! Itâs a little shorter that the previous ones. Next chapter in a few days as usual. I may not respond but I do read all the comments and messages and I appreciate them.
Yoongi X Female Reader. CEO/Arranged Marriage AU
Summary: You were selected to marry the wayward CEO/Billionaire/Heir, Min Yoongi. You went into it with an open mind and heart determined to try and make it work. Yoongi on the other hand had no intention of ever letting you in let alone allowing himself to fall in love with you. Slowly you start to associate the smell of cinnamon and vanilla with the feelings of hurt and sorrow.
Word count: 1,338
Warnings: (May get updated as chapters progress): Arranged marriage, cheating/infidelity, hints of smut (Probably wonât get very explicit but weâll see how it goes), Sexual Assault, Brief mentions of death, Reader grew up an orphan, General Angst, Swearing
You did a lot of thinking on the bus ride home. Yoongi had tried calling you multiple times. He mustâve tried Jimin too because he also conveniently called which you decided to answer.
âHey Y/N whatâs going on? Yoongi just called me really upset. Something about you leaving and he canât find you.â
âHe lied to me. He used me. I feel stupid and gross.â
âThat doesnât seem right. Are you sur-.â
âYES JIMIN! I saw the text message.â, you said trying to lower your voice back down after receiving some glares from other passengers.
âOkay okay. Where are you now?â
âIâm on a bus. Iâm gonna go pack up some clothes and then find somewhere else to stay. Iâm not spending another night with him.â
âY/N I think maybe you should give him a chance to explain. If you told me months ago that Yoongi did this I wouldnât question it but I just donât think this is him any more.â
You gave him nothing but silence in return.
âAlright well be safe Y/N. My doors open if you need it. Call me.â
The bus had to make several stops along the way so the ride home took longer than you wouldâve liked. When you finally entered the penthouse Yoongi was already sitting at the kitchen table. When he saw you he jumped up and ran over,
âY/N are you okay? Where did you go? Please let me explain.â
âExplain what Yoongi? How you lied to me? How you used me? How youâve been trying to ruin my life for the last year?â
âY/N, yes Iâm the first to admit I didnât treat you like I shouldâve. I know that and Iâm owning up to it. I swear on everything I didnât sleep with her.â
âOkay Yoongi. Say I believe you, which I 100% do not, how do I know there arenât other women? How do I know you arenât lying to me about all of this right now? You donât exactly have a good track record.â
âY/N I promise you. You have to believe me.â
âNot good enough.â, you laughed.
You ran off to your room stuffing several days worth of clothes into a bag to take with you. As you were zipping it up a patch of gold at the bottom of your closet caught your eye. You smirked as you grabbed the gold wrapped box and your bag and walked out to the living room to find Yoongi.
He was sitting on the couch staring down at the ground.
âHere, Happy Anniversary.â, you said handing him the box.
He looked up at you with furrowed brows.
âSeriously take it. I already spent the money on it so you might as well have it.â
He cautiously grabbed the box from you and tore away the gold wrapping paper. He took off the lid of the black box and chuckled to himself. He held it up to you with raised eyebrows.
âYeah I thought of the idea a while ago before things started improving between us. But then I decided that I wasnât going to give it to you after you had actually began acting like a decent husband. I think itâs fitting now though. Donât you agree?â
âWhat did you have this special ordered or something?â
âYeah turns out that when you have money youâre able to get a lot done.â
Yoongi scoffed and set the box down on the table.
âY/N I know I fucked up and treated you like shit. I admit that. I canât change it or take it back and I regret it every day. But I was ready to do anything and everything to prove to you how much Iâve changed and how I was going to be better husband.â
âYoongi, do you know how alone Iâve felt this whole time? How heartbroken Iâve been? How stupid I felt? Iâve sat here and waited for you like a dog and for what? Iâm an idiot for staying so faithful to you. Maybe Mia had the right idea. Marry you and get all the perks that come with it but still get to sleep around the town. Itâs what you do anyways. I think thatâs what Iâm gonna start doing from now on too. No more sitting around like a good little housewife waiting for my husband to return. Iâm an even bigger idiot for thinking you could change. That youâre capable of loving someone because youâre not. Youâll never love anyone, not even yourself and because of that you will never truly be loved by anyone.â
You felt out of breath but lighter after you got all of that off your chest. Yoongi looked at you with tears in his eyes. The first time youâd ever seen him cry and just like that the weight was back. Maybe you had been a little too harsh but you kept telling yourself he deserved it.
Silently he walked over to the entrance way and began digging through one of his bags before pulling out a package wrapped in blue and purple paper. He walked over and handed it to you. âHere, Happy anniversary Y/N. Now go run to Jimin or Taehyung or Namjoon. Fuck every guy in Korea for all I care any more. Iâll just go back to being cold asshole Yoongi who constantly fucks other women since thatâs all youâre ever going to see me as anyways. And maybe your right. Maybe I donât deserve to be loved.â He turned and walked away wiping at the tears falling from his eyes. You started to reach out to him but ultimately decided against it choosing to just leave instead.
You took the gift and walked out of the penthouse letting the door slam shut behind you. Unwrapping the paper you found a cream colored book that was quite heavy. Flipping to the first page there was a handwritten note, âY/N, Iâm not good with speaking my mind so I figured I better write this down for you to read so I donât ramble like an idiot. I wanted to get you something for our anniversary that money cant buy because you deserve more than jewelry or designer bags. I hope you like it. Iâve been working with a private investigator to track down anyone in your family that I could. They gave me one of the only numbers they could find. I called it and I was able to speak with your Great Aunt Ellie who had this book and after some convincing she agreed to send it to me. I know itâll mean a lot to you and I canât wait to see your beautiful smile as you flip the pages. Love Yoongi.â
You opened to the first page and instantly started crying. A photo album. He had went through all the work of tracking down your family to get you a photo album of yourself and your closest family members. Going through the pages you saw photos of you as a baby and of your parents. Photos of you on vacation and at Christmas time. Some on birthdays. A photo of you and your Aunt Erica sitting next to her hydrangea bush hit you particularly hard. Youâd never had any photos of your family or yourself as a child until now. You stood in the hallway flipping through the pages with your sobs getting stronger as you went.
On the other side of the door Yoongi sat down on the couch staring at the box in front of him. He picked up the black bottle that looked back at him with such vengeance. He read over the words painted in silver,
âDespicable, A one of kind fragrance for Min Yoongiâ.
He took the bottle throwing it against the wall watching it shatter into hundreds of little glass shards. The liquid inside slowly descending down pooling on the floor beneath it. He ran his hands over his face as the scent of smoke and dark amber filled the air.
