the southern appalachians are facing catastrophic damage after hurricane helene, what people have been calling a thousand-year storm. the region will forever be changed by this event. entire towns have been washed away, there are currently no open roads out of much of the region, and power and cell signal is scattered.

across the southeast people have been running supply drives and fundraising to get aid into the affected areas. mutualaiddisasterrelief and mergoat.mag on instagram are currently platforming a lot of supply drives and updates. please also check their posts if you’re not in the southeast- there’s lots of groups accepting donations right now to fund supplies for people on the ground.

Oh my gods, this actually had me crying. My heart hurt reading this.

You know how to make sure the knife twisted the right way, and I can't express how painfully joyous it was to read this.

What if the remaining Company sent Bilbo a portrait of their late king?

A huge painting, one he sat against the wall to stare at for hours on end. He stares into cold euclase eyes, as reverent as he did when Thorin was alive.

Do you think he forgets he's gone, when he reaches for him and his fingers meet paint rather than warm skin? That he leans in to kiss him, only to realize that he's not moving towards him as well to close the gap?

He'd cry, wishing to feel his embrace again, the way he holds him so tightly, like he was the true treasure he wanted. He'd curl up at the foot of the painting, hands pressed firm against the canvas as if he could push into it and reunite with Thorin.

I just realized I'll never experience watching the Hobbit trilogy for the first time ever again and it is the worst pain I've ever felt.

Someone please beat me over the head with a cast iron skillet so I can watch it for the first time again-
