Dark Souls 1 and 3 obviously had the most cohesive story with 2 being way the fuck out there. But in a lot of ways it’s still my favorite one. Map was MASSIVE but had sequence breaking. I loved the Drangleic kingdom and the lore of the undead curse. Drangleic Castle in particular was a BEAUTIFUL area with the rain and the lightning and the Looking Glass Knight dramatically posted at the pinnacle of the castle in an outdoor area like some insane Twilight Princess final boss sequence. The scythe combos sucked but their back attacks were real executions. Outfits were cool. Unique items. An incredibly spammable very good stone. Fucking Lucatiel was there. Emerald Herald too. I loved Mejula. It just felt so peaceful and removed from everything as a hub area. All the unique things you could do with the bonfires. I can’t imagine why anyone would hate on this game. Yet elden ring is so well loved (I hate that one). Some people have no taste.
