Violence: A Writer’s Guide: This is not about writing technique. It is an introduction to the world of violence. To the parts that people don’t understand. The parts that books and movies get wrong. Not just the mechanics, but how people who live in a violent world think and feel about what they do and what they see done.
Hurting Your Characters: HURTING YOUR CHARACTERS discusses the immediate effect of trauma on the body, its physiologic response, including the types of nerve fibers and the sensations they convey, and how injuries feel to the character. This book also presents a simplified overview of the expected recovery times for the injuries discussed in young, otherwise healthy individuals.

Maim Your Characters: How Injuries Work in Fiction: Increase Realism. Raise the Stakes. Tell Better Stories. Maim Your Characters is the definitive guide to using wounds and injuries to their greatest effect in your story. If you like easy-to-follow tools, expert opinions from someone with firsthand knowledge, and you don’t mind a bit of fictional bodily harm, then you’ll love Samantha Keel’s invaluable handbook
Sun Tzu is so fucking funny to me because for his time he was legitimately a brilliant tactician but a bunch of his insight is shit like “if you think you might lose, avoid doing that”, “being outnumbered is bad generally”, and “consider lying.”

And the award for the most in character cosplay goes to…
Stop me if you hate the concept: short, fat, hairy lady gets isakai'd into a high fantasy, and instead of "oh look at all these ethereal elves woe for I am but a flawed mortal" routine she lands in Dwarf territory and is immediately revered as the most enchanting and desirable maid in all the land. This immediately becomes a zesty romantic drama. Thoughts

Cat, what do you suggest for someone who had a really bad day?
worry not for im know somebeody whom is expert in vanquishinge bad days
I am stuck at the train station after the train left just as my fingers grazed it,
It is cold outside but I am packed just warm enough,
And I am thinking of all the times when it was just like this.
It could be one hundred years ago, thirty years ago, two hundred years ago or even fifty years from now, it would still feel just the same.
And yet it doesn't.
There's a tranquility in the air I cannot remember the time last felt; my heavy bags are resting beside me on the bench, for once not weighing me down; and I have peace of mind enough to notice how clean and fresh the air smells all around me.
I could close my eyes but I'd much rather keep them open, though there is nothing here to see. I do not miss the sunshine hidden behind the soft clouds; I feel like it is here regardless.
This moment feels like Life is romancing me, and I think, maybe it is not so bad that I decided to keep on living.

it’s either that or nothing
