When I Was In Art School, I Was Discouraged From Drawing Anything Cartoonish Or Anime-like. Sometimes

When I was in art school, I was discouraged from drawing anything cartoonish or anime-like. Sometimes outright forbidden.
On the one hand, being forced to learn the foundations of anatomy without leaning on cartooning as a crutch made me a better artist. But for a long time I was sort of ashamed of my cartoon-style art. Whenever I did something that wasn't "realistic", I felt compelled to show off some of my "real" art as well. Gradually, though, my style has drifted back toward anime since graduating and I've gotten much less self-conscious about it. Even now, though, with the geek alphabet series I'm working on, I'm hesitant to promote images like this one because my more realistic stuff is "better". Which is stupid. Cartoons and anime are what sparked my passion for art, what got me to practice drawing for hours a day, what gave me the interest in going to art school in the first place.
Anyway. Rant over. Q is finished. I'm pleased with it. The end.

I could explain this, but frankly it'd be funnier out of context.
adventuresinozrpg replied to your post: Quick! Someone tell me this is a bad idea.
My main advice would be to make sure they’re funny.
That was the general idea, yes.
(Generally I'm a bit mystified as to why people think feminists are humorless. I think we're pretty hilarious, but I might be biased.)
Every geek convention should do this.

This is a series of posters that I made this year for CONvergence, the convention I co-founded many years ago and still provide a lot of art for. The characters in the posters are the convention’s robot Mascot, Connie, her creator, Professor Max, and her evil younger sister, Connie Mark II. These posters are part of CONvergence’s “Costumes are not Consent" anti-harassment campaign. You can find more posts & lots more art I’ve done for CONvergence on my website.

Stuff like this makes me excited to be a photographer. Friends came over and entertained us by doing fire poi and fire-eating, and I managed to get these incredible images. I need to do photography like this more often.
NOOOO! OUR SECRET PLAN REVEALED!

Okay, guys. If I were you, I wouldn’t believe it, either, but this is totally a real book. I checked online library databases myself (and Harvard has a copy, if you’re nearby!)
From the synopsis I found here it seems like some sort of dystopian sci-fi romance thing.
