Since fragmentation of the TTRPG social mediascape led to me losing my ability to connect with my audience, it's been really hard to feel motivated to work on anything related games. So since February, the only creative things I've been doing have been for my day job, writing soulless copy about TELECOM. And that's felt... real fucking bad. Recently, sprinting fascism's effect on my mental health has highlighted the need for me to start creating again, just so I can fucking stay sane. And since I tend to do better at having a creative practice when I have external visibility... Here's me trying to use Tumblr? Again? IDK Anyway. The first thing I'll share is part of a meme-ridden powerpoint I made for my first appointment back with my trauma therapist after accidentally ghosting them last year, since the urgency of sprinting fascism has finally driven me to overcome that shame and finally book a fucking appointment.

Hi, folks! Anna here. What with the KickStarter over, I’ve been attempting to throw myself into art production. Unfortunately, I’m facing a bit of a learning curve with my new tablet (I cannot recommend Manga Studio 5 highly enough) as well as caring for a sick toddler. But here’s what I’ve got so far for the first finished spread.

I’m happy with the results. I hope I can find a way to make the coloring a bit more efficient, though…

I've been quiet about the KickStarter the last little while, but folks, we're running out of time. We've managed to get 41% of the way toward unlocking Fayola, but pledges have been trickling in slowly the last few weeks and we're going to need a last minute push to make Fayola, our princess #2, a reality. I've already done several layouts for the picture book, which you can see previews of by visiting the attached link. Please help us spread the word! I desperately want to make a book in which a queer transwoman of color gets to be the heroine!

I've teased lately that I've been working on a new project that I recently broke 10,000 words on. Thanks to a visit from the Demon of Hyperfocus (I plotted 80% of the project in FOUR DAYS), I'm ready to talk about it in a bit more detail. It's a novel! Genre: uh... trans polycule witch romance? No title yet, since I'm the fucking worst at those. Since coming out as trans nb, I've just been sick to death of the only romance stories in media being the same straight romance stories over and over again. And sometimes if I look REAL HARD I can find stories about queer men, and I can squint and turn my head to the side and sort of pretend they're about me. This has been especially painful this past year, while I've been going no-contact with both my mother and some of my in-laws over their refusal to respect my gender and pronouns. And so, just like with many of my games, I finally decided that I have to make the stories I need in the world since clearly no one else is going to. Writing is going pretty well. This is actually the fourth novel I've written; I got pretty serious about finishing two of the previous ones, but they were set aside because they were tied to deeply terrible people I didn't want to think about. I've even done the scary thing and enlisted a pre-reader willing to yell their enthusiasm at me so I can overcome my depression and keep writing once the Demon of Hyperfocus loosens its grip a bit, which will definitely happen around the midpoint. ...which I'm sort of looking forward to tbh
