Who are your closest friends? How about nations you like?

‘ Ah? I try to keep a sense of impartiality with my relations; it does no good to pick sides especially amongst the bigger players of this world, so I do my best to be a friend to all.

... with that said, I do admittedly have my biases. We have our differences at times, and our histories are complicated, but if you were to ask me amongst those in the world I stand with first and foremost it would be with my fellow members of ASEAN. ’

... ah, fine. Yes, I have my arguments with Malaysia. It’s hard not to, consider our proximity and shared histories for better and for worse. And I find it so ironic that they want my attention now after everything! I wish they would respect my boundaries.

But despite this, Malaysia is family, and I care for them as family should. There’s a lot of things we understand about each other, stemming from said proximity and shared histories... and I want to think that, no matter what happens in the future, it’s that shared understanding that will keep us close.

Why do you give Malaysia the cold shoulder so much? What happened?

Look, he may say he wants to get along with me but he makes it so difficult. He knows what he is doing when he demands I pay more for the water supply-- it’s frustrating that I still have to rely on him for it in the first place! He had his chance to re-negotiate the price and didn’t take it then; why now?

And then he proceeds to act like I have nothing to be upset about, as if he hasn’t been overstepping his boundaries on mine. Especially lately! I don’t want to give him the cold shoulder, lor. I just want my space. Tak boleh tahan. ’
