Yeah, the thing about this is that I don't even think Brenner is going to be anywhere near the main cast so that interaction may never play out. From what I've been seeing of Matthew Modine's Twitter and Instagram, he's possibly filming in Italy at the moment. For Stranger Things maybe??? Everyone is being very quiet about the whole thing.

Brenner fleeing away to Italy to do some sort of shadowy work might be an exciting plot twist.

and while I think he’s an interesting character, I don’t think I want him to die

I was thinking about it, and while yes, I would want Eleven to confront him and let him know that he has no control over her anymore, what I think I want more is for Hopper to confront him. I want her adoptive dad to tell Brenner that he was wrong and abusive on so many levels. that Eleven deserved so much more. that no matter how Brenner tried to act like a dad to her, or even “cared” about her, or that it was all for the greater good and science, that it was still wrong and Brenner should absolutely feel the weight of that shame.

as much as I want Eleven to have full permission to feel whatever she feels about Brenner, I recognize that she needs professional help and her friends around her, to help her see what true family is supposed to be like
